Groundbreaking 5th album from rapper Kanye West featuring the hit singles "Power," "Runaway," "Monster" and "All of the Lights."
Showered with praise upon its release, the album debuted at #1 on the BB 200 with 496,000 copies and eventually won Album of the Year at the Grammys. Complex has named this Kanye's best album and Rolling Stone has now included it on their 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time list.

eventually won Album of the Year at the Grammys. False. In fact, there was a minor controversy around the fact that it wasn't even nominated for Album of the Year, when it definitely should have been (and probably should have even beaten Adele, who won for 21). It did win Rap Album of the Year. Not sure if that's what you meant.

Easily one of my all-time favorite albums by any artist. I love it. There is such depth in the production, and it holds together thematically. So damn good.

Probably in my top 5 albums ever. Every song on here is an experience. 2nd best rap album of the decade imo.

One of the best rap albums of the past 30 years IMO. Easily my favorite of the past decade. Masterpiece. Adventurous, reflective, shockingly honest, darkly humorous, it really covers the whole gamut. The production is incredible, the features all work, not a bum note to be found.
He will spend the rest of his career trying to outdo this. And I doubt he'll ever come close.

The production is obviously rich and expansive, but it annoys me how Kanye is overlooked as a rapper. Some of my favorite lines/stanzas from this album: - The plan was/to drink until the pain over/But what's worse/the pain or the hangover - Too many Urkels on your team/That's why your wins-low - And what's a black Beatle anyway?/A fucking roach/I guess that's why they got me sittin in fucking coach - I just needed time alone with my own thoughts/Got treasures in my mind but couldn't open up my own vault/My childlike creativity, honesty, and purity is honestly being crowded by these grown thoughts/Reality is catching up with me/Taking my inner child fighting for it custody - Her mother, brother, grandmother hate me in that order - Public visitation/we met at Borders - They say I was the abomination of Obama's nation/Well that's a pretty bad way to start the conversation - I'm living in the future so the present is my past/My presence is a present kiss my ass - And I just blame everything on you/At least you know that's what I'm good at - Never was much of a romantic/I could never take the intimacy/And i know I did damage/The look in your eyes is killing me
Those are just off the top of my head. I know there are a lot more.

A great album definitely. This was also the first time Kanye struggled at radio though.

I know absolutely nothing about rap but this is one of my favorite albums. "devil in a red dress" and "gorgeous" are the highlights for me but the entire album is flawless.

This isn't my favorite album of his, but it was good for what it was. TBH, aside from maybe 'Monster,' this album doesn't have that much replay value after the release.

A great album definitely. This was also the first time Kanye struggled at radio though. I believe Kanye made a statement about intentionally making songs that would be hard for radio to play. I might be wrong, not sure.

One of my favorite albums of all time. Definitely Kanye's best album. Every single song is great all the way through. My favorite on the album (and Kanye song in general) is Runaway. I remember many years ago first listening to All of the Lights and being amazed by all the different artists who had vocals in the song. Such a good album.

A sonic masterpiece and probably Kanye's last greatest effort. Kanye picked the right people (producers and guest artists) and samples for the album. He incorporated different styles and sounds from his previous albums. My go-to album tracks are "Gorgeous", "So Appalled" and "Blame Game".
The overall era including the GOOD Friday releases, the Runaway short, and album rollout was phenomenal. I looked forward to "All Of The Lights" being released as a single.
I forgot 75% of the album made my chart with AOTL being the successful one. What a time.

The 2010 VMA performance of Runaway is amazing, even to this day. A gorgeous album for sure, quite possibly the best hip hop album ever made

I’ve never listened to another full album by him besides Watch the Throne lmfao but this is easily one of my top 10 most played/favourite albums. A complete knock out and it still holds up beautifully.

This album is amazing. Sad and dark, but fun as well.
