What are some songs that charted in a specific radio format despite not fitting it whatsoever? Off the top of my head, here's a few:
Rockstar cracking the top 40 at HAC goes to show you how much of a CHR clone the format has become
Many of the active to alt crossovers in the mid-late 2000s directly went against everything alt stood for -- the worst was probably Something in Your Mouth or Too Drunk to Fuck imo
Meanwhile the pendalum has swung in the other direction, with stuff like Take It Back and I Will Wait cracking the top 50 of active which is supposed to be a hard rock format. And the fact that Imagine Dragons has multiple top 15 hits on active blows my mind.
Some pretty poppy stuff has charted on alt too, like Sober Up, an AJR song which is somehow in the TOP 5 right now.
And while this maybe made sense to chart on the bottom half of the format, Royals going #1 on URBAN still blows my mind.
Can you guys think of any other examples?

Off the top of my head, these are some that I've always found to be head-scratchers:
Thunder on Active All We Ever Knew on Active Something Just Like This on Alt Silence (Marshmello) on Canada Rock Feel So Close on Alt Lights on Rhythmic (top 10)
And from the 90s, the formats were imaginably different back then but still, it's funny to say these actually happened: Hand in My Pocket on Active (top 10) Fast Car on Active (top 20)
Honestly, usually I'm not complaining about hearing songs that are out of place on a format if I like the song. If I don't like it I'd prefer not to hear it on any format lol.

Absolutely going with Royals and Dark Horse charting on urban. I believe that Scars by Papa Roach made it to top 5 on Pop. The pop format commonly had rock and alt crossovers at that time, though. It's not like it was Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, Shawn Mendes, PAPA ROACH, Lady Gaga, etc. It was more like 3 Doors Down, Nickelback, Papa Roach, Fall Out Boy, commercial break, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Mariah Carey, etc.
