Fully expecting to be in the minority with most of my rankings. "The Champion" is overhated and is a catchy jam.

Preview for #12

The 2nd of 3 songs to ever spend time in last place. This one danced around at the bottom most of the beginning of the submissions, then started pulling ahead of "The Champion" by a good bit, then dipped back below for a hot second, and then finished 5 points ahead of it.

There’s nothing wrong with “The Champion” but can you really say it’s better than the material that was intended for the album? It’s a bonus track and, personally, I believe the album effectively ends with “Kingdom.”

Here's the thing with 'The Champion' - yes it's a decent song but it's a CLEAR outlier on the album as a straight-up pop song. Being on the album its inclusion makes total sense but by its nature last place is exactly where it ought to be.

Thus my #5 rank! it's a CLEAR outlier on the album as a straight-up pop song. "That Song We Used To Make Love To" and "Backsliding" say hello!

Oh. I'm glad to see this one off to such a quick start! "The Champion" is a song that was incredibly difficult for me to rank. I hated it when it was first released. The melody and production are SO jarring and downright annoying. Not to mention that I am not exactly the type of Country fan that makes a habit of pumping Ludacris from my speakers when I'm driving down the road with my windows down on a hot summer day. But then it started to grow on me... By the time I worked on my ranks for this album, I had no idea where to put this song! It briefly flirted with my top 5 before I told myself to calm down and not do anything rash. So I am a bit sad to see it in last place, even though I would have had no problem seeing this happen when I first got the album. Gonna go jam to it right now!

Ouch. Y’all really think “Love Wins” is better than “Kingdom?”

Single bias still has to count for something, I guess? Also I had no real expectations for this rankdown past 'The Champion' but I don't think I was necessarily expecting another perfect ranking straight away lmao.

This was - by far - my hardest Carrie album to rank. I find my 4-12 rankings interchangeable based on my music mood.
I was pretty sure “The Champion” (my #10) would end up in last place. I think it’s surprising to think of it as Carrie’s most successful single so far from the album (in many ways). Personally, I really enjoy the song and it’s grown on me considerably since it’s release.
“Kingdom” (my #7) is - I think - Carrie’s most honest co-write to who she is as a person. She’s a family woman and that is what means the most to her. It’s great as a long-time fan to see Carrie in such a seemingly happy place in her personal life. She’s a private person, so I appreciate the honest first-person narrative. For me, this song does everything right that “Love Wins” did wrong.
I think this is Carrie’s best album closer by far (I know “The Champion” but you know what I mean). I love the track lyrically and musically and that swelling bridge is terrific.

Yay, happy to see Kingdom out early too! Like, it's cute and all, but aside from a nice vocal performance, there's really not much there for me and it certainly doesn't come close to stacking up against the other brilliant tracks on this album. Hope The Bullet and Love Wins are out soon too.
As long as y'all don't totally crush EUWY, I'll be happy.

If we could reissue the album free of “The Bullet,” I’d be a happy stan. That track was SO hyped in that it would be revelatory and emotional, but instead it’s one of the lowest points of the album. Whenever I listen to the LP, I feel a distinct shift after “Drinking Alone.” There are seven straight strong songs and it just dips after that. “The Bullet” and “Love Wins” make the backend of the record difficult to recover.

"Kingdom" is a tad bland and boring. It's one of those songs that I don't mind when I am actually listening to it, but I am literally never in the mood to listen to it. So when listening to the album, I am likely to skip it, but if I ever don't make it to the skip button I enjoy it more than I thought I would. If that makes any sense at all. Lmao

Yeah, I love nearly every song her fans seem to hate with this album (That Song..., Kingdom, CP, The Bullet, even Love Wins doesn't bother me and I enjoy the chorus). The only song I like that I've seen others show love on Pulse is "Spinning Bottles," which is why I'm not surprised to be second last in closeness, for now anyway.

Preview for #11
-- 10 8 6 4 6 4 3 5 7 8 8 7 8 6 5 6 6 7 6 10 10 10 10 10 10 11 10 9 11 11 11 11 11 11
When I say that the results were ALL OVER THE PLACE as they came in was not apparent with the runaway bottom 2, but this preview should show how up and down the results for the majority of the songs in the rankdown are. This one got as high #3 eight lists in, but then slowly fell further and further and further until it firmly landed at #11. At 51 points less than "Kingdom", we have our 3rd highest standard deviation. 8 people lose a top-3 and 8 more lose a bottom-2.

Fantastic. Cute sentiment, catchy chorus, but the too vanilla lyrics and production really kill it for me. I enjoy the track from time to time, but overall I pass on this more often than not.

"Love Wins" deserved better than this. Wow, I'm legitimately shocked it's out this low.
