So despite 1-800...being a surprise hit, peaking at #3, no followup has been released to radio at least to my knowledge. Besides vine songs, which are somewhat of a different situation as their main platform isn't radio anyways, are there any other cases you guys can think of where a decent or bigger sized hit didn't actually get a follow up single? The only other one I can think of is Sweater Weather by the Neighbourhood, although a followup (Afraid) was released to their home format of alt.

Sam Hunt released Body Like A Backroad early last year and literally has released nothing else since then.

I think Bank Account by 21 Savage had no follow up.

The Revivalists seem to have no intention of releasing a follow-up to their huge Alt/AAA and minor crossover hit "Wish I Knew You". Not with this album, at least.

Love Will Never Do by Janet Jackson. Hot 100 #1, and no follow-up single after.

Ben Rector, "Brand New"
That was my favorite album of 2016. "Brand New" nearly went top 5 on Hot AC and top 30 on Pop and nothing was released after. Had a few great options too. I feel like he'll never have anything else pushed to radio again ever.

Love Will Never Do by Janet Jackson. Hot 100 #1, and no follow-up single after. Not commercially, anyway. "State of the World" was released to radio and was successful there (#4 in Radio & Records), but with no single available for consumers to buy it didn't make the Hot 100 of the time. If one were available Janet might have scored a record-setting eight top 10 hits from one album.

So basically any single turned into a big hit that didn't have a follow up of another song from the same album?

Cher didn’t release any follow up to her #1 single Half-Breed. Carousel Man was released as a promo single but didn’t get an official single treatment. Personally I think The Greatest Song I’ve Ever Heard of This God-Forsaken Day would’ve been great followups.

Yeah basically, though when I made this thread I was specifically thinking of early era singles, not 5th singles that didn't have a followup released because they were so deep into the era.

I think Bank Account by 21 Savage had no follow up. I mean technically he had that mixtape with Offset or something right? I think his success brought him great features though! Since then, he was on a 8 week #1 with Post Malone and another Top 20 hit with Cardi B.

I'm a huge fan of Ben, but Brand New wasn't one of my favorites from him. In regards to other stuff being pushed to radio, he's an independent artist and scored a radio distribution deal with Caroline and Capitol Records to promote "Brand New", which did really well. I'm surprised he never sent more material to radio because his stuff is perfect for Hot AC. Hopefully his new album has something sent to radio.

Blu Cantrell - "Hit Em Up Style" There was a ballad that followed it. I can't remember the name. Maybe, I'll find a way??? But there was a follow up

A big example of this just occurred to me -- DJ Khaled never released a third single off Grateful, despite the lead going #1 and the followup going #2.

Sheriff had a number 1 in 1988 with When I'm With You, a song that was 6 years old at that time. Was follow-up single ever released?
