Still #48 after 16 weeks... It’s disappointing that radio’s still treating them like brand new artists after three top 20 singles. It has been 3 years since they released music and really only 1 hit. I didn’t think, “Shut Up and Fish” made the top 20 but if it did it barely scrapped it. I am disappointed it’s taking a while to move up the charts but not the least bit surprised. My mistake, two top 20 singles, which were also both top 10 singles. GIACS was certified Platinum and “Fly” was certified Gold and peaked a #61 on the Hot 100 despite only getting to #9 on Country Airplay, so I would say they’ve had 2 hits.

Their first album was so good! There were some good songs that should’ve been released to radio like “After The Storm Blows Through”.

Agree to disagree. I feel like that song could've been a hit as I feel like it would've been a hot seller, and could've worked well in the colder months. That and I feel like out of all the non singles that was the song that I felt like fans loved the most and felt the most passionate about.

Considering the only hot seller they had was "Girl in a Country Song" and that is the polar opposite of "After the Storm Blows Through," this assertion seems like quite the reach.

"After the Storm Blows Through" is personally one of my favorite songs on their debut, however, I don't think it would have been a good single choice. The song that was really slept on from their debut was "Smoke".

But I respect your opinion regardless and like I imagine you do with me I see where you're coming from.

Smoke, on the other hand, was definitely a missed opportunity.

Smoke is my favorite song from that album and definitely deserved to be released. I wonder if the A Thousand Horses single of the same name being released earlier that same year had anything to do with the decision of not releasing it though.

I feel like anytime a song is semi successful the title of that song title tends to be discouraged for a new artist to release, until said song title is released. I doubt we will see a new artist release a song titled "Hurricane" anytime soon.

A Thousand Horses most likely prevented Florida Georgia Line from releasing their “Smoke” as well, which was rumored to be a single at one point.

I believe 1997 is the only year to have had two different Top 5 hits with the same name, as both Reba and John Michael Montgomery released different songs titled "How Was I to Know" at opposite ends of the year.

All three acts were at the time under BMLG as well, which I'm sure factored into their decision to not compete with themselves over the same title. I could've seen FGL's song maybe getting a pass if they were on another label, but being under the same umbrella as A Thousand Horses likely prevented it... and Maddie & Tae being such new artists probably prevented it regardless of what label they were on.

Provided the radio gods haven't written them off, this will work. It's an extinguisher dispatching the flames of the dumpster fire that was, "Friends Don't".

MR Are you suggesting the new song is a new single? It almost seems that way based on the promotion for its release... Well, given that "Friends Don't" has been out since Clinton said "I did not have relations with that woman", yes. "Broken Heart" or whatever it is called, is raw enough to cut through and should be the next single. I don't know who wrote it but the craft is spot on. Except for the last line in the first verse mirroring the first, but that is just nitpicking. The emotion transcends. MR

Caught their new song "Die from a Broken Heart" the other day on the Highway and it's a definite return to form for them imo. However, I will admit that "Friends Don't" grew on me after a few more listens elsewhere. Does anyone know if the plug's been officially pulled on this yet? I ask because I haven't been following the charts much lately. Regardless, I really hope they can release another album soon as we desperately need another breath of fresh air from the wiener overload that's still clogging the airwaves!

They are at #50 on the rolling Mediabase chart as of today, bullet of 45. I think I checked on the Billboard website today and this finally set a new peak of #46 tonight on Billboard. I doubt the label gives up on this anything soon. But I'm about 95% sure that this song is going to flop. Taking 18 weeks to peak at #46 is never a good sign. At best this will pull a "Doin Fine" at worst it will fail to make the Top 40 in if itself. I honestly feel like "Die from a Broken Heart" would actually be a decent single to release, as it sounds like a continuation of their sound from their debut album. But I doubt the label will release it and will probably just press on with this.

"Die from a Broken Heart" is one of the best songs I've heard from them. If this had dropped even two weeks ago when "Friends Don't" was doing absolutely nothing, I would say to replace it with "Die" right away.

Great performance! "Friends Don't" sounds like a sure fire hit to me. I can't understand why it is struggling on the charts. Personally I think it is much more radio friendly than "Die From a Broken Heart".
I was almost hoping it would be a take on Carolyn Dawn Johnson's "Die of a Broken Heart". SOOOO GOOD.

"Die From a Broken Heart" is holding up pretty well on iTunes nearly a week after its release (#12 country). I wonder if this creates some motivation for the label to drop this song and start promoting that instead? Seems maybe they were "testing" that possibility with the way "Heart" was released.

This week's 46-42* move is one of the best since its release. I still don't think this will become a big hit, but top 40 is looking more possible.

Yeah tied for the biggest move so far on Billboard, in "Friends Don't" 5th week the ladies moved up 4 spots from 58 to 54. This song is one I have been keeping track of and this is so far it's chart run on Billboard. 60-off-58-59-58-54-52-54-52-48-47-49-49-49-49-48-48-49-46-46-46-42

Anyone else like to think of this as Maddie and Tae's love song to each other?

Anyone else like to think of this as Maddie and Tae's love song to each other? It is not lol. It is based on Maddie’s sister and an experience she has had.
