Would have preferred “What Keeps You up at Night” but good choice all the same. Hopefully it doesn’t take 9 months to peak

About time. Pretty obvious choice. Probably should have been the lead single. I think this will be a big hit for Lee.

Great choice. Love the song. Can't wait for it to peak in 45 weeks.

It's a great single, strong melody and will fit right in on radio.

I am super excited for this one. I have loved "Rumor" since the first time I heard it as a grat track. This sounds like a big ol' hit and I sure hope it is!

Why the heck is the adds date so far out? This guy is really being mismanaged badly if you ask me.
Great choice for a single though. If this was the lead I'd be pretty confident in this being a huge hit, but he really doesn't have much momentum with radio right now. He needs this one to stream and sell well for this to become a big hit in my opinion.

Lee Brice is very hit or miss (mostly miss) with me, but I like this one a lot. It may end up being my favourite of his singles yet.
I totally agree that the add date is way too far away. It feels like "Boy" peaked such a long time ago.

The add date is so far out because they know without a doubt this will be a glacial climb to the top.

The add date is so far out because they know without a doubt this will be a glacial climb to the top. MR Not sure why adding an extra month wait onto that would be the answer to expecting it to be a slow climb. That's only going to delay the climb even further.

We have one single early add for 'Rumor' this week according to the Mediabase adds report. Bravo to whatever station made that smart move, because I am ready to have this song smash.

To continue to further their agenda, Sirius XM has decided Lee Brice is now too old and has added this to their Y2Kountry playlist.

To continue to further their agenda, Sirius XM has decided Lee Brice is now too old and has added this to their Y2Kountry playlist. I'm not even a big fan of this song, but that's just asinine. If it's promoted to mainstream radio, then the mainstream channel should be the one to spin it. The point of that Y2Kountry program was to highlight artists like Sara Evans or Alan Jackson who no longer push their singles to mainstream, not to be a gatekeeper for who is too old (or not modern enough) for mainstream. I hoped that they learned their lesson with Josh Turner's "Hometown Girl", which went on to be a big hit in spite of being relegated to Y2Kountry, but clearly they did not. The Highway has become borderline unlistenable lately as it is.

The Highway has become borderline unlistenable lately as it is. They did this with one of the Tim & Faith duet singles, too. I'm pretty sure it was 'The Rest of Our Life' (possibly 'Speak To A Girl'). So I'm thinking that SiriusXM is using Y2K as a station they put new songs they know they should play but don't for some reason want to play on The Highway. Tim and Lee will both get played on The Highway with the right singles, I'm fairly certain, but SiriusXM just has really, really odd playlists.

I actually think the Highway played Rumor at one point, around the time of the album's release, because I have definitely heard it and I do not seek out Lee Brice as an artist, haha. Definitely odd that they're playing it on Y2K.

The Highway has always been about brand new artists, trendy and pop-leaning Country, but even more so it seems after John Marks left for Spotify. They feel they can afford to narrow their playlist to that specific range of music, rather than artists like Josh Turner or even now, Lee Brice. What's odd is that Lee has some heavy spins at The Highway in recent years for songs like "Parking Lot Party", "I Don't Dance" and "Drinking Class" but this new single being played on Y2Kountry is disappointing. The Highway feels they can afford to pass over these artists, because they feel their ratings and listener passion will go unaffected. Whether or not that's actually accurate remains to be seen but the big example of this backfiring is The Highway never touching "Hometown Girl", which kw9461 pointed out. I'm sorry, but not adding a #1 single is astonishing. The Highway prides their station and playlist as different from terrestrial and since they're satellite and have far less advertisers, they can afford to not follow the mainstream chart trend, but when millions of people are listening, streaming and buying a song that is in the top 10 at terrestrial, that's just being stubborn if you ask me. Lee Brice has had a couple big hits in his career but he's not a superstar artist and his singles do take a while to climb, even if he's at a point where they shouldn't, hindered by the Curb promotion staff. This may be a signal that here's one big station that feels Lee is entering the backside of his career...even though his first big hit ("Love Like Crazy") was only 8 years ago. I like "Rumor" but I'm not confident Lee Brice will be around as a viable radio act for years to come and his label situation isn't helping that.

Also doesn’t bode well for his future that his vocal range has dropped a TON since Hard 2 Love. Hardly even sounds the same. Still like his musical output a lot though, for the most part.

The adds seem pretty low honestly. I know Lee Brice isn’t an A-luster by any means, but at one point this dude was one a roll. It’s hard to find many artists who’ve had a better run of 5 singles than the span Lee did between “A Women Like You” and “I Don’t Dance”. I’ll definitely need to curb my expectations for this one, because it seems the interest for Lee is very minimal right now.

#1 new and active. I really wish thus would take off. I think it might be time for h and his label to part ways honestly.

Lee Brice is basically the only semi-relevant artist on their entire roster, so there's 0 chance they'd let him go anywhere. They've literally gone to legal battle to keep artists at the label with far less potential for success, including some where they had already sabotaged the artist's careers.

Didn’t tim McGraw have a extremely difficult time leaving Curb. A well as joe Dee massina it’s surprising to me how some labels drop artist left and right but curb would rather keep a artist around and release nothing instead of dropping them.

Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina, and LeAnn Rimes all had very public struggles with how the label was handling their careers and wanted out of there.

As did Hank Williams Jr., Jeff Carson and Lyle Lovett.
Lyle’s last album on his contract with Curb was titled ‘Release Me’ lol
