Let's not forget Steve Holy (FIVE YEARS between albums), Amy Dalley (seven singles, one of which got to #23, but not even a hint of an album), Bomshel (didn't get an album out until a membership change occurred, despite having already released four singles under the original lineup), Clark Family Experience (bankrupted due to label mismanagement, ended up on the wrong end of a lawsuit), David Kersh (no releases since 1998, was still on the label in 2005 when he announced he was quitting the biz), Ken Mellons (two non-charting singles in 1997, a "best of" album in 2001 that was actually all new material), Andy Gibson (picked up after a label closure but didn't get anything else out except a "best of" album), Love and Theft (same, minus the "Best of" album), Perfect Stranger (another huge pile of missed singles and a second album that went nowhere), Shane McAnally (also had an album delayed forever and a day)... the list goes on.
It seems that Curb was signing new artists left and right in the late 90s and they all bombed. Smokin' Armadillos, Blake & Brian, Burnin' Daylight, James T. Horn, Seminole, Trini Triggs were all signed in a hurry, but their singles all died in the 70s. How Rodney Atkins managed to escape that clusterfuck I'll never know.
Tyler Dean, Rachel Holder, and a couple other artists were on for a very long time without ever coming close to charting, too. I wouldn't be surprised if they still have Cowboy Crush signed.

This is sure going nowhere in a hurry. Announced over 3 months ago, went for adds two months ago, and just now debuting. Looks like he's in for yet another marathon year-long chart climb if this one is to eventually become a hit. Really seems like all his momentum has dried up between the long non-eventful run of "That Don't Sound Like You," followed by too long of a break off radio, and then returning with "Boy" which radio clearly never warmed up to.

This is sure going nowhere in a hurry. Announced over 3 months ago, went for adds two months ago, and just now debuting. Reminds me of "Doin' Fine", which charted a week after its impact date, then fell off for 10 weeks, THEN hogged 40 weeks of chart time. I hate these marathon chart runs and miss the early 2000s when 26 weeks was about your max, 30 if you were a new artist. Let's get back to those times and stop giving everyone a turn at #1. #sorryforthequote #justranting

Curb screwed him up. This is a smash. His album, which is quite good top to bottom, got ZERO attention or promotion, and the songs aren’t even on YouTube????

This is a great song. It's a shame it isn't doing better but I'm hoping it will still be a hit.
Lee is the real deal and it's a shame radio keeps chasing the next shiny thing.
Oh, and Curb sucks.

I’ve been saying since the Hard to Love record that his voice sounds rough/different. He revealed in this article he just had surgery to correct a polyp issue which kept him from hitting high notes, like he could on Love Like Crazy/Seven Days a Thousand Times. www.google.com/amp/www.soundslikenashville.com/news/lee-brice-rumor-self-titled-album%3famp=1He said the vocal issue forced him to record more soulful music for the last 2 records instead of stuff where he could stretch his voice out on. I’m thrilled to hear his voice is healed now. I miss how he sounded in 2011 and can’t wait to hear it on the next album * and I can hear the difference in this clip a month ago of Songs in the Kitchen

That makes a lot of sense actually. He definitely sounds more restrained when you can tell he’d want to let loose on songs like “That Don’t Sound Like You” or “I Don’t Dance” (as good as those songs are).

Makes the Mediabase top 50 debut at #50.
With how long this song is taken I wonder if this can make the Top 30. This song going so slow up the chart is so frustrating as this song does seem to have some intrigue with the general public as the sales aren't absolutely horrible from what I recall.

He played “What Keeps You Up at Night” on the Today show last week and SESAC tweeted it as his new single. Who knows.

Yeah the sales are higher than I was expecting given it's level of airplay. There's an audience out there for the song, now I wonder if radio will give up on this before it finds that audience?

He's done getting hits unless he can somehow get off of Curb Records. Which appears unlikely based on past instances.

This continues to sell ridiculously well despite low airplay. I hope this can at least make the top 20 eventually.

This is currently out-selling over half of the songs in the Top 20 right now, songs with 3-10x more audience than this currently has just inside the Top 40.

I don't get why country radio ignores or gives such long chart climbs to songs like this "Whiskey Glasses" and "I Don't Know About You". All those songs have a lot more interest than the latest singles from Riley Green, Michael Ray, and Tyler Rich.

This one is going to be a big hit at country radio.....It’s going to be a slow climb but this song has what it takes.

Yeah, I think country radio will take this (as well as "Whiskey Glasses") all the way.

Kudos to Lee Brice. He continues to get radio play, and good sales in a very difficult climate for him.
He gets his new stuff played on Y2K instead of the Highway cause he’s 38 and not a young bro-country star. (They do this with Justin Moore and Houser as well)
He is horribly mismanaged by the terrible Curb Records. Album got viritually no promotion. (Its pretty good and was released a year ago, if some don’t know).
He’s basically ignored by everyone at this point, and still has a name for himself. This song is insanely catchy, and seeming to be a huge hit with the younger crowd — while still being a true Lee Brice tune. Guy never sold out. Love to see it.

(They do this with Justin Moore and Houser as well) While this was initially getting airplay on Y2K this is now getting played on The Highway. I might just be catching it at the right times but it seems like a decent amount of spins on The Highway right now. In fact, in the last week "Rumor" is the 14th most played song on The Highway with 45 spins.

Isn't it weird that at first they dumped him onto Y2K but now they see the impact and they moved it over...their programming is an utter disaster. Although I'm ALL for hearing this great tune over the garbage like "whoeva wrote the woools of bweaking up" they keep manufacturing. When this catches up in airplay, it could be a pretty big Hot Country Songs hit.

That's not how I'd run things if I was in charge (especially with "Rumor" because this song is fantastic), but it's an alright practice as long as if the song does start connecting that it gets moved over to The Highway. It is so tough to break new artists like The Highway tries to do. For every Highway find there's a Highway flop and a half. Sometimes they hit it out of the park, though. SiriusXM is just a big ball of interesting.

SiriusXM is just a big ball of interesting. The problem with only playing new songs on Y2K is they are basically saying this artist is a hasbeen and we don’t want it on our new country station. The issue is who decides which artist gets bumped and who gets added to the highway. I think it’s unfair to Lee Brice when he has had consistent hits on Country Radio.
