BTS has massive idol fandom, probably biggest in the world. blackpink doesn't have that, but probably has more casual fans. I'm glad for their hot 100 debut. I don't like this song tho. I really loved their previous singles, playing with fire and as if it's your last. but this one is just...same goes to forever young, dated generic cute album track to me.

I am stanning this song as of late. It goes the hardest of anything on the EP (which I love as a whole) (also, doing cardio to this song makes you sprint). I hope it’s shaping up to be a massive hit for them.

Btw this went #1 in South Korea this past week, with "Forever Young" at #2. "Really" is up to #18, "See U Later" is also up to #26, and "As If It's Your Last" also gets a boost and rises 79-55.
The album debuts at #1 over there as well.

The dance break at the end of this really is next level. The rest of the song is just a biiiit dated and you can feel the 2NE1 energy in it, but once it shifts gears the whole thing is elevated.

BLACKPINK's 'Ddu-Du Ddu-Du' Becomes Most-Viewed Korean Music Video in 24 Hours on YouTube It also has the most first-day views for any video in 2018.K-pop quartet BLACKPINK broke numerous records with the release of their Square Up album last month, and now they can add one more accolade to their name: the girl group has now broken the record for the most-viewed Korean music video within 24 hours of its release on YouTube.
A representative from the video streaming service confirms to Billboard that the music video for their song “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du,” released on June 15, was the “biggest 24-hour debut of 2018” with over 36.2 million views in that time period.
It also surpassed the first 24-hour views of Psy's 2013 song "Gentleman" and BTS' record-breaking May release "Fake Love," which saw 36 million and 35.9 million views, respectively, within 24 hours of being uploaded to the site.
Metro News reports that “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” is the second-most-viewed music video ever in the first 24-hour period; Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” from last year garnered 43.2 million views in the same time frame.
YouTube also confirms that “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” became the fastest music video released a by K-pop girl group to reach 100 million views, achieving the feat in just 10 days. Among Korean artists, the video is overall the third fastest to reach 100 million views, behind “Gentleman” and “Fake Love.”
Along with their music video breaking records, BLACKPINK made history with their Square Up album and the single; the former became the highest-ranked album from a female Korean act on the Billboard 200 when it debuted at No. 40 last month, and “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” is the highest-ranked single by a female Korean artist on the Hot 100, where it debuted at No. 55. BLACKPINK are the first female Korean act to appear on the Hot 100 chart since Wonder Girls’ English version of “Nobody” hit the chart in 2009 at No. 76. Japanese version of DDU DU DDU DU is being released in Japan August 22nd. There will be 6 (!) variations of the single - CD+DVD, CD, and 1-track singles of each member. CD+DVD and CD editions will have the other 3 songs from SQUARE UP in Korean. Usually their Japanese songs include the rapping in English so I'm excited to hear this.

"DDU-DU DDU-DU" holds at #1 for a third week in South Korea! It also appears at #2 on the monthly chart as well.
Square Up also is #2 on the monthly album chart for June, having sold 178,983 copies. Now South Korea's chart is weird because they have two album charts, the one I'm using right now is for shipments (Gaon - which also does the singles chart). For actual sales, there's another chart (Hanteo), and they sold 115,346 for the month of June. They've sold over 125,000 copies so far.
Now you might be wondering if this is a good number. Given that girl groups generally don't move album units (except if you're Twice nowadays) compared to boy groups, it's actually really hard for a girl group to break 100,000 copies sold in SK. Blackpink's first week was 102,001 in pure sales which is about what Twice did in their last comeback (What Is Love?) so Blackpink has done phenomenally in album sales as well as singles.

I must say, with how stellar their English lyrics were on the Japanese versions of the first album, this is a let down. "Got more juice than Hi C"?? LOL.. I mean, it is super endearing but the lyrics this time around sound more rushed.
Edit - Jennie's rap is decent though.
