#4: "Out of the Woods"
Points: 762 (121 points behind #3, 86 points ahead of "New Romantics") Average: 6.454 Standard Deviation: 4.484 (5th highest SD) Hidden Message: They loved each other recklessly
woods's #1 isn't "Out of the Woods", but he did get a perfect rank with this song though! "Out of the Woods" was first released as a promotional single prior to the release of the album, where it debuted at #18 on the Hot 100. It was later released as the sixth single from the album and became the underperformer from the album. It's the only single from 1989 to miss the top 10 on Hot AC radio where it peaked at #11. The song was pretty much locked for a #4 finish, as you can see from the song's trajectory on the graph and the point gap between #3 and this song, and this song and "New Romantics". The repetitive chorus might have turned some people off, and this song finishes with the fifth highest standard deviation of the rankdown.

I’ve always found this one to be overrated, even if I do enjoy it. Perfect top three though!

I already shared my thoughts on this song a couple pages earlier, but I just love it. The repetitive, claustrophobic chorus just fits the song so well, but I can definitely see that turning people off the song.
Great top three, but that was always gonna be the case with this album.

So this is a pretty predictable top 3, but here it is anyways: Blank Space Style Wildest Dreams
The thing is, all of them had their turns at #1, and the top 3 just ran away from the rest of the competition, as you saw by the 121-point gap between #3 and "Out of the Woods".
I'm going to post the stats for each song without telling you which one is which! I'm not going to include the perfect ranks and the bottom x ranks because that may give it away as to which song is which to some people.
Song A: #1 ranks: 10 Top 3 ranks: 37 Top 5 ranks: 49
Song B: #1 ranks: 19 Top 3 ranks: 40 Top 5 ranks: 50
Song C: #1 ranks: 14 Top 3 ranks: 31 Top 5 ranks: 44

Glad NR is out, but I'm not about OOTW. I hoped it would reach the top 3 but it's fine.
3, 5, 7 remaining.
I hope either Style or Wildest Dreams wins.

#3: "Wildest Dreams"
Points: 883 (18 points behind #2, 121 points ahead of "Out of the Woods") Average: 4.621 Standard Deviation: 3.546 (2nd lowest SD) Hidden Message: He only saw her in his dreams
Departing us from the race for #1 is the fifth single from the album, "Wildest Dreams". The song reached #5 on the Hot 100 during its run as a single, and became the fifth song from 1989 to reach #1 on pop radio, becoming one of the few albums to score five #1s on pop radio. It was also the fifth #1 from 1989 on Hot AC radio. "Wildest Dreams" snuck into the #1 position twice during the first half of the submission process but couldn't hold off "Blank Space" and "Style" and finished at #3. However, it wasn't too far from those two songs though, as it finished 18 points behind the #2 song and 35 points behind the winner. The R3hab remix of this song is really good too, btw.

It's "Blank Space" vs. "Style" for the #1 spot! Which one will win? Results will be posted shortly after I'm done calculating closeness (which should be done in like 2 minutes)!

#2: "Blank Space"
Points: 901 (17 points behind #1, 18 points ahead of "Wildest Dreams") Average: 4.348 Standard Deviation: 3.524 (LOWEST SD!!!) Hidden Message: There once was a girl known to everyone and no one
There were two songs in this rankdown that got a huge amount of love crossed the 900-point threshold, but unfortunately there can only be one winner. "Blank Space" was released as the second single from 1989, and the song and music video became a pop culture moment. "Starbucks lovers" anyone? The music video, which has been viewed more than 2.3 billion times on YouTube, features model Sean O'Pry and Taylor mocking the media's portrayal of her by doing exactly how the media portrays her. Fueled by the music video, "Blank Space" became Taylor's longest-reigning Hot 100 #1, as it spent seven consecutive weeks at the summit. She also became the first female artist to replace herself atop the Hot 100 as "Blank Space" replaced "Shake It Off" at #1. This song got off to a surprisingly slow start, but regained momentum and spent a decent amount of time but could not hold on.
AND THE WINNER OF THE 1989 RANKDOWN IS.....
#1: "Style"
Points: 918 (17 points ahead of "Blank Space") Average: 4.091 Standard Deviation: 3.960Hidden Message: Her heart belonged to someone who couldn't stay
"Style" beats out the winner of the Taylor Swift singles rankdown "Blank Space" to claim the throne here in the 1989 rankdown! While "Blank Space" was less polarizing (it had the lowest SD of the rankdown, go figure), "Style" garnered more love at the top and that's what made the difference (10 #1s for "Blank Space" vs. 19 #1s for "Style"). "Style" was #1 for most of the rankdown but it got dethroned by "Blank Space" halfway through and looked like it would finish at #2, but it moved back up to #1 and CF15 's tanking of "Blank Space" pretty much sealed the deal. "Style" was released as the third single from 1989, and peaked at #1 and #6 on pop radio and the Hot 100 respectively. This song was the clear standout on the album for me when the album came out and I did my first listen, I really wanted it as the second single at the time, but seeing how "Blank Space" blew up I couldn't complain (plus, "Blank Space" was also one of the standouts on first listen). I'm really happy to see this song finally win a rankdown, I feel like it has finished at #2 (or has come close) multiple times but never got to #1. It's funny how there's a song titled "Style" in an album mostly rumored to be about One Direction's Harry Styles though.

Style is probably my favorite TSwift track ever, so I'm glad it won. Can we do a full singles rankdown after reputation? With more people playing I think the results would be quite different from the first one.
