Roger Bowling wrote two giant songs for the late, great Kenny Rogers: Lucille (1977) and Coward Of The County (1980). He placed seven singles on the country chart between 1978-1981. One of them, Yellow Pages cracked the top 40 in early 1981. That was released in November, 1980 and peaked at #30 in February, 1981. What is strange is that the album was released in 1983 called Then I'll Stop Loving You.

Is there a thread for artists that you thought were going to be big stars but never was?

Is there a thread for artists that you thought were going to be big stars but never was? None that I know of in the eleven years I've been here. I think you should start one. It would be interesting to get your take on the subject.

Kim Charles was signed to MCA Records in 1978. He only released one single for them and that was Want To Thank You. It was released in January, 1979 and climbed all the way to #35 in March. He simply disappeared after that.

Don Adams charted five singles between 1967-1974. Two of them came from his 1973 album called On His Way. Lead single bombed at #91 and that was I'll Be Satisfied. The second and final single, I've Already Stayed Too Long was released in October and peaked at #34 in January, 1974.

Tina Rainford charted just two singles in 1977. The one I am featuring was the only one that came from her album called Silver Bird. It was the title track and that was released in March. It peaked at #25 in June. It should be noted she recorded English and German versions of the song. It makes sense as she was born in Germany in 1946.

Charlie Robison passed away earlier this month. He is a one-hit wonder in country music. He charted five times between 1999-2003 with only one of them cracking the top 40. He had a five year association with Lucky Dog/Columbia Records between 1998-2003. The lead single to his 2001 album, Step Right Up was I Want You Bad. Released in March, it peaked at #35 in July. Second single, Right Man For The Job did not chart. It should be noted he was married to Emily Erwin from The Chicks between 1999-2008. R.I.P., Charlie.
