Yeah, this thread is about huge flops and IYE is far from that. I think it was a decent hit in the US, and pretty big WW, it's even his 11th most streamed song on Spotify with 850M. i'm not saying it was the biggest flop of all time, but floppage is relative and i actually think i agree with op here. after hours has to be considered one of the most successful albums of the streaming era, including having two of the biggest hits of all time, so it only reaching #16 when every other single, before and after, reached #1 is already an underperformance in my eyes. but didn't it only reach that off the album bomb + max out at somewhere in the 40s or 50s during its actual chart run ? i know it peaked at only 20 on chr and 16 on rhymthic which again, compared to the other peaks that era. i'd call that a flop personally. i do agree it's had decent longevity tho I can understand your point, I just think IYE didn't have the room to shine. We all know how huge BL was and plus Heartless in the top 20, it was much easier for SYT since he didn't have active singles at the time. Agree it's an underperformance for After Hours standards, I just think we shouldn't label it as 'huge flop'. Yeah, it's all relative, that's why IMO we should be looking at the bigger picture, not only chart peaks. For example, it'd be absurd to call Billie's "lovely" a flop because of the #64 peak, and it's certified Diamond and one of the most streamed songs on Spotify with 2,4B.

^^ agree, IYE had no space at all to have a moment. Think that one was just timing vs level of interest. Rihanna: Pon de Replay - If It’s Lovin’ That You Want Rude Boy - Rockstar 101 We Found Love - You da One (I know You da One went top 10 but did horribly mostly due to We Found Love’s impact) Stay - Pour It Up IDK about Stay - Pour It Up, the latter was a pretty big Urban hit no? And only serviced to CHR months later (and is very un-CHR). I'd argue against WFL - YDO as well... doesn't quite 'count' for me when the only real reason it didn't do as well is because WFL was so huge. OP example as well, not sure - wasn't Kiss It Better released at the same time as Needed Me, which was huge? Edit - lol I did NOT realize how old the OP and post I responded to are. Oh well!
