^As a rap fan, this is the best year in Hot 100's history. As a Hot 100 fan, it's great that we're having a fast turnover rate at the top of the chart after a few stagnant years. I get that you don't like Drake, but since I "survived" 2014 Taylor and 2017 Ed Sheeran you're going to survive 2018 Drake too.
My biggest issue is with the songs that do make it; it seems like this year, more than ever before, the songs that make the cut don't feel like hits in the generic sense of the term, and I know everyone knows what I mean, but this is probably a transitional stage, and eventually those hotshot debuts powered by streams may become the kind of hits I'm talking about. Radio just needs to be more inclusive towards those rap songs, I suppose, and fans of other genres besides rap need to start streaming etc.
We all know where I stand on today's rap music, so I won't bring my bias to this, I'll try to stay objective. Right now, it's as simple as this - I hear "Whatever It Takes", "Mine", "In My Blood", "Friends", "Delicate", etc. on the radio all the time. All the time. And to know that those songs were indeed big Hot 100 hits and yet none of them have made top 10 (yet, at least) is just kind of illogical, when we've had the likes of "Yikes", "Diplomatic Immunity", "KOD", etc. It doesn't seem right. I am one of those people who wouldn't be opposed to a new "singles only" rule being implemented, but I know this is a controversial topic.
As for you being so happy with the year's charts, honestly, good for you. I've had better years myself (and will always have certain years from the past that are amazing to me, like in the 80's, etc.) and probably will again (they say pop always comes back). I'll ride this out, see what comes next, and just be happy with the occasional song I like making it big.
