I like both I'll Name the Dogs and I Lived It a lot and I was a little disappointed (but not really surprised) when I Lived It didn't reach the #1. Turnin Me On on the other hand is one of the worst songs on the Texoma Shore album. I disliked this song the first time I heard and I still don't like it now.

Passes Eric Church to move to #12 on MB. Slowly coasting towards his 31st top 10.

This is "Sangria" with all the flavor removed.

This song has become a guilty pleasure of mine as I'm really enjoying the easy going and smooth melody. There's nothing really special about the song nor is it going to be remembered as one of Blake's great hits, but I really like the mood this song sets going into the fall and winter months.

Flopping in callout as expected (2nd last net positive). However this will probably peak at top 5 at least because it is Blake's song.

If Turnin' Me On does peak in the top five without going to #1, 2018 will be the first year Blake Shelton has not topped the chart since 2007. That year, he had Don't Make Me peak at #12 and followed it up with the #19 peaking The More I Drink. Shelton did hit the top with Home in 2008. That would be ten consecutive years (2008-2017) of topping the chart. He is represented this year with a #1 in I'll Name The Dogs, which topped the chart in December, 2017.

I don't see this song going to #1 for Blake Shelton. I could have sworn "I'll Name The Dogs" hit #1 in early January, but that was probably on Mediabase. I still can't believe "I Lived It" stopped at #2 in June. 5 or 8 years ago that would have been a definite multi-week stay at #1 for sure when Neo-traditional country was still getting airplay. Imagine if "She's Got A Way With Words" hit #1 back in 2016, Blake Shelton would have tied Alabama's record of 21 straight Billboard #1 hits with "I'll Name The Dogs" with a chance to break their record with "I Lived It." now, it seems Luke Bryan has the longest #1 streak, not counting "Games" which was not an official single.

I sort of feel as if Blake has moved on a bit from radio. For radio purposes, the album has stronger singles than either "I Lived It" or "Turnin Me On". For very different reasons these were probably the two most polarizing/radio weakest songs (outside of Money).

I thought Blake Shelton would have a landmark 2018. After all, he needs just two more chart topping hits to break into the top ten of those artists with the most #1s. That honor goes to Kenny Chesney who landed his 30th #1 hit with Get Along.

This had a really bad update today, down over 100 spins and 1.3 million AI. Not sure if this is an outlier, or if the plug has been pulled. We should get a better sense tomorrow.

This had a really bad update today, down over 100 spins and 1.3 million AI. Not sure if this is an outlier, or if the plug has been pulled. We should get a better sense tomorrow. There was some sort of adjustment on Mediabase today -- not sure if they just recalibrated their audience numbers, or if a station or two dropped off or switched to Christmas music, or what. Blake's song was one that took a bit of a bigger hit than most others, but plenty of songs lost audience and spins today. Kane Brown lost 1 million in audience even though he's going for #1 this week. Not counting songs that have already peaked (Luke Combs, Chris Young, Chris Janson, Garth Brooks), a total of 26 songs in the MB top 50 lost audience today, and most of them are obviously not even close to being done. Dan + Shay's "Speechless" lost over 600k and we all know that one is headed straight for the top. Mitchell Tenpenny lost 724k, Dierks and Brothers Osborne lost 459k, Eric Church lost over 1.1 million (although he's probably getting close to being done), Chris Stapleton lost 327k, Luke Bryan lost 510k, Tim McGraw lost 484k, etc. I think we'll see a more normal update tomorrow, and I personally don't think Blake is done yet, but he along with Eric Church definitely saw worse updates today than most others.

It’s not done yet but it can be telling when you compare spins lost between songs during a recalibration if you will, whether it’s station panel change or Christmas flips.
Blake’s song isn’t testing well in our market and its Mediabase callout isn’t great either, with a 20% negative score and the highest burn rate at nearly 10%.

I have a feeling that this song has just about peaked or maybe can move up a spot or two at most. This song is sporting a pretty bad negative bullet and this song is a full million behind its peak Mediabase audience. Finally, being at 21 weeks this Monday means this song is probably only lasting a few more weeks.

I wouldn't be surprised if his label places 'Thank You Country Radio' ads next Monday in both CAW & BCU signaling that this tune is done combined with an announcement of the title and adds date for single #4 from this CD or a 'new music coming in'.... type ad in both publications as the case may be.

It would be nice to see a "Thank You Country Radio, Blake is taking off 2019, see you in 2020". I used to love Blake's stuff, but outside of a very rare single here or there (I did like "I Lived It", hearing Blake on the radio is a station changer for me. A bit of absence would be good. I know Luke Bryan was off radio for a short while and it felt so good. I know the likelihood of that is zero, but I can dream...

This does appear finished, down nearly 80 spins in today’s Mediabase update and Blake’s lost 277 spins the past seven days.
Lowest peaking single on Billboard since “The More I Drink” (#19) in 2007. That would also apply to Mediabase as well, since “I’ll Just Hold On” peaked at #6 on Mediabase in 2009 (#8 on Billboard). “Turnin’ Me On” got to #8 on Mediabase.

We probably need another day or two of negative updates to say so for certain, but I think it's highly likely that this has peaked at #10 on Billboard which is indeed his lowest-peaking single on the Billboard chart since "The More I Drink". Pretty crazy. Where did "She's Got A Way With Words" peak at on Mediabase? I know that one only got to #7 on Billboard.

Chances are this will be the last single from Texoma Shore, considering he typically releases his albums about 18 months apart. Unless he decides his primary focus will be his upcoming tour (i.e. no new music), I doubt anything else on this album will do much.

Unless he decides his primary focus will be his upcoming tour (i.e. no new music), I doubt anything else on this album will do much. I agree. Based on the last two singles being some of his lowest-impact singles in a decade, I think continuing to promote the current album would be unwise. He's usually pretty quick on the turn-around for his records even when all the singles race to #1, so I'd expect them to just move on to new music after this one.

It's a shame because he made a big deal about this album being a return to his roots, and while I disagree with that assessment, I hope the lackluster performance of this era won't force him into making more trendy songs on the next album.

Blake would be best served to take a lengthy vacation away from country radio IMO. Make people actually wish for some new music. He needs to become passionate again about his music and pick some better songs.

However, with him always judging The Voice twice a year I think he or someone on his team wants him to release stuff pretty consistently every year to take advantage of all the tv time.

I co-sign all the requests for him to take time off. He's been on auto-pilot mode the last several years and has been putting The Voice first. He needs to take a few seasons off of that and focus on making decent music again. I can't even think of a song that I've liked from him since "Lonely Tonight" but all of his last 4 or 5 eras have blended together with the same vanilla content so I couldn't even tell you other singles from this album.

This thread right now makes me laugh. Sonically ILI and INTD sound nothing like anything on if I'm honest. Blake has been putting out mostly mid-tempo romantic ballads his entire career. Austin was well written, but Blake rarely writes his own stuff anyways, so that's more a matter of song selection than "passion". Being sick of midtempo ballads from Blake is a totally reasonable position, but that's how you've changed, nor how Blake has changed. I think it's easy to "blame" the artist (passion, the voice, back to their old stuff) when it's really your perception that's different.
I wish Blake would take more vocal risk, and diversify his catolugue, but I'd be happy to see a continuation of him using more traditional instrumentation like he did on his last album. Radio however generally is not.
