This is single 5. I don't see a 6th single coming. But i could see them sending DALB in between this and a new song just to keep him on radio. Not that he needs that. Kind of like how Luke Bryan sent "Games" to radio a few years ago but it wasn't really a single. Capitol Nashville never actually sent "Games" to radio. Stations simply played it on their own. If the label had sent the song to radio, then it would have counted as a single. As for "Sixteen", it already has 25 adds a week before impact date. Radio seems really excited about this one. Well they ahd to get it somehow. It didn't just magically get sent by a fairy.

Well, radio can really play anything they want (it doesn't have to be a single) and it's really easy to access music in today's high tech world. This song itself charted without being sent as a single. It doesn't usually happen, but it does happen.

As soon as a song is digitally released it’s easy for radio stations to download it. That’s all I meant. The label never sent it out to radio, but stations (just like us consumers) can still download and play a song if they want to.

So they don't get 45's and spin them on the record player anymore? Who knew?

The day I realized how true your first sentence is was the day I was leaving work at ~11:30 at night and a pop song (one being promoted to CHR/Top 40) that I’ve never heard of before was playing on a country station. It was a good song though.

I'm sure most of you had already heard these bonus tracks since they were available from the Target edition, but I am obsessed with all three of the new deluxe songs. Especially 'Cardboard Heart.' This was my first time hearing them and they are excellent and classic Thomas. I love the brand and style he is creating and sticking to.

Country Airplay: #41 (+5) This thing is rising quickly. It's not acting like a fifth single. Is it not on Mediabase yet? Cardboard Heart might be the only decent song I heard from him It got a Brad Paisley vibe. "Marry Me", "Die a Happy Man", and "Beer With Jesus" exist.

Good choice! Thought they’d go with one of the songs from the deluxe as the next single, guess not. To be honest, not really liking any of the new songs, so glad we got this instead.

I thought "Country Gold" or "Cardboard Heart" would work. Especially the former when it says "country gold, coming out of your radio!".

Let’s be honest country radio will eat up pretty much anything he’d release. They’re just not very great songs, in my opinion.

Another 27 adds this week for "Sixteen". 109 total adds so far.
"Leave Right Now" also got an add on the Mediabase Adds Report.

It's a streaming monster when you consider it's an album track off a country album. It doesn't belong on country radio though. But why is this still selling so poorly? It's already in the 30s on Billboard.

Thomas is one of most popular artists in the genre, the album was popular and has been out for over a year, too, so a lot of people were already exposed to "Sixteen" prior to it being a single. The potential buyers of the song probably already bought the song before it was ever an official radio single.

I'm not shocked this is being released...but I am shocked that "Drink A Little Beer" wasn't. I guess Thomas didn't want to ruin his reputation by releasing something that actually sounds country.

While I agree that he has released country songs (I'd consider "Sixteen" one of them) it's a far reach to say that anything in "Make Me Wanna" is country lol. It is a shame that DALB will never be released as radio did seem pretty interested when the album came out.

He's released several country songs over the years. "Beer With Jesus", "Make Me Wanna", and "Marry Me", are all examples of that. It is a shame that DALB will never be released as radio did seem pretty interested when the album came out. The twangy guitars and the lyrics sound very country to me. I do agree on "Drink a Little Beer", though he would have to bring Rhett Akins out every time he wanted to play it.
