I thought Should've Said No would do a lot better. It's a great song and was a moment in the Bad Blood mash up at the reputation STADIUM tour. I don't like Bad Blood either so I don't care The chorus of is song is quite over-produced and has a high burn-out rate.

"Humble and Kind" has not aged well for me and it's not even that old. I liked it a lot when it was current, but I wouldn't miss it if I never heard it again. Good message, but it's just grown boring to me. Not surprised to see it out this early in such a strong set of songs.

I'm also shocked "Humble And Kind" is out so early. I thought it would make at least the top 40.

I haven't done a lot of commentary yet, so here goes nothing. I believe I have said my piece about "Silver Bells" and "O Holy Night". Martina's versions of both those songs are nothing short of iconic. I basically consider these two to be "her" songs at this point, especially compared to other country versions. Her Christmas songs have a way of transcending genres and being just plain timeless gems. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of these two songs end up in the next Best of the Best rankdown tbh, once I do Martina's Christmas albums next month... "Drive Me Crazy" is a pretty good song, but I am definitely not surprised to see it do so poorly here. Kip Moore continues to be polarizing, but this is definitely one of my favorites from him. Not quite as good as "Girl Of The Summer" was... "XO" is a clear outlier in this list, so I am not surprised to see it get tanked either. Kelsea is also fairly polarizing as an artist, and "Peter Pan" seems to be that freak song that most people can agree on. "XO" (and the entire rest of her career) was absolutely trounced by "Peter Pan" in her rankdown, so I am not at all surprised to see "XO" not get as much love in a list as strong as this one. "I Just Call You Mine"... I am still so dumbfounded that this song actually ended up in this list... I never in a million years would have predicted it finishing at #2 on the Shine album rankdown! This song always had such a mixed reception, whereas the album is full of album tracks with almost universal acclaim, such as "Walk Away" and "Lies". Even "Ride" seems to be better-liked, as far as singles are concerned. So the fact that this one managed to beat all of them to finish at #2 is so puzzling. I am not at all sad about it, however! This song is so underrated I have always felt like the lyrics are fairly creative for a love song, preventing it from falling into the same cheesy traps that love songs so frequently encounter, and Martina's vocal performance is stirring and inspiring. "Fearless" is a pretty good song. Not surprised to see it tanked just because it's by Taylor, but it definitely holds its own among her material. "Everybody Does"... Okay, surely this song had to have fallen victim to being one of the more unknown songs in the rankdown... That guitar-driven opening riff alone is enough to give this song a personality that Martina's haters always seem to complain that she doesn't deliver frequently enough... The lyrics are very classic Martina without being over-emotional, and the melody is immediate and accessible. Not releasing this as the followup to "Anyway" was a HUGE mistake. "Should've Said No" lasted longer than I thought it would... It's a good song, but the vocals hold it back just like a lot of Taylor's other early-career releases. Plus radio overplay has been a factor with this one. The lyrics are pretty clever though, and the melody is strong! I always enjoyed this one, but think it is leaving at a good time. "Humble And Kind"... What an overrated song. It's incredible of course, but it belonged nowhere near the top 2 in Tim's artist rankdown. I'm not at all surprised to see it underperform in this rankdown. It seems to be a song that has worn on people over time, and I think it finishing at #2 in his rankdown was a fluke that was mostly due to recency bias. I think that ultimately songs like "Live Like You Were Dying", "The Cowboy In Me", "Please Remember Me", etc. would have all held their own much more strongly on this list.

Lmao THIS was the Martina song that deserved to finish in the bottom 10... Even the crazy Martina stans didn't put this in their top 20 This song ended up having the smallest standard deviation of the rankdown, and the relative lack of hate helped it to almost escape the bottom 10! This song is awesome, of course, but I definitely don't think it is comparable to a lot of stuff in this list. It's a pleasant and catchy listen, but there's not really anything about it that gives you an indication of the superstar that Martina ultimately had the potential to become.

I bet all I had on a thing called love. I guess in the end it wasn't enough. And it's hard to watch you leave right now. I'm gonna have to learn to let you go somehow.

In yet another desperate attempt at flopping, y'all collectively tanked one of Carrie Underwood's most widely-acclaimed album tracks just baaaaaarely outside of the bottom 10. With this being the only Carrie album track to come anywhere close to winning one of her album rankdowns, I am sure many people had their hopes for this song to do much better in this setting... This song marks the first #1 loss of the rankdown!

She dropped the phone and burst into tears. The doctor just confirmed her fears. Her husband held it in and held her tight. Cancer don’t discriminate, Or care if you’re just thirty-eight, With three kids who need you in their lives.

This song has always hit especially hard for me. My mom was embroiled in a lengthy battle with breast cancer for most of my life. When this song came out, I was stunned by its shockingly vivid portrayal of the cancer life, and what it is like to be a family member making up their support system. The language is unabashed and graphic, which may make it a difficult song for people to connect to, but for anybody who has ever been a part of a cancer battle, this song hits the experience right on the nose.
Lines like "Now it's forced smiles and baggy shirts to hide what the cancer took from her, and she just wants to feel like a woman again" always made this an incredibly hard song for my mom to listen to.
We lost my mom earlier this year, so now this song just leaves me all kinds of messed up...

I'm somewhat stunned to see "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" out this early. For anyone that has had a family member or friend suffer through cancer this song hits hard. My childhood best friend's mom had a lengthy battle with breast cancer and I was there when my mom had to deliver the news to him in the hospital gift shop that she had passed. Just last year my roommate discovered he had tongue cancer and I was right there with him the entire time. After having part of his tongue removed his cancer is now in remission, but he does have to continue to go to speech therapy and his taste buds have forever changed.
While my own mother didn't have cancer she struggled with diabetes until unfortunately it began to affect her organs and passed away in 2005...so whenever I hear this song there is whirlwind of emotions that come about and I find myself having to close my eyes and take a deep breath.

"I'm Gonna Love You Through It" deserved better. This song came out right after my Grandmother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and the way my Grandfather was by her side the whole way is described in this song. I cannot listen to this song without crying.

"Fly" is a beautiful, awesome song, but similar to "I Just Call You Mine", this song comes from such a strong album that I was completely shocked to see it finish at #2! Maddie & Tae have so many acclaimed songs relative to their small output, I figured this one might be lucky to make the top 5! I love their harmonies on this song, and am glad it managed to become a hit for them :) I am also not really surprised to see this leave now.

this rankdown is trash, with so much terrible ranks, ridiculous that some of the songs that have left have gone whereas the overrated trash that is "You Belong With Me" is still in. That song better leave soon.

Ugh, why did THIS one have to be treated like all the other Martina songs??! Out of all of them, THIS one?!!? This song is just SO catchy, and the production is really cool for a song from the mid-'90s. Certainly one of Martina's strongest melodies, plus the lyrics are pretty cool, and it doesn't have any of the belting that people criticize for her...
It is definitely one of her more underrated hits, so I was thrilled to see it finish at #2 in the Wild Angels rankdown :) This one was looking like a top 20 contender for the first half of the submission process, before this clusterfuck of a rankdown decided to claim it as yet another victim of unwarranted tanking... (Seriously, two bottom 5 votes? I swear you people didn't even listen to this song.)

I have no idea what happened between Best of the Best and this rankdown, but it seems like people enjoy Taylor's #2 finishers WAY more than her #1 finishers This song is overrated, overplayed, and tired. I would have been tired of this song regardless of who sang it, but the fact that it is paired with early Taylor's mediocre vocals just makes it that much less appealing. I enjoy the song enough for what it is, but it had no business outside of the bottom 10 in a list this strong. (Especially considering the songs that have left before it...)

I think, for me at least, the Michelle Wright version came out about 6-8 months before Martina's did, and that's the version I've always listened to. Even though her cover is very good, I've always preferred Michelle's version (and a big part of that is probably because it came first and so is the one I was familiar with first).

Well at least "You Belong With Me" outlasted a bunch of Martina songs ("Whatever You Say" and "Wrong Again" are both amazing so those are the exceptions, the rest range from meh to great)! bboat11 to answer your questions about Taylor's performance here vs. the Best of the Best I think it more has to do with the drop in support for Martina, her #1s generally were better than the #2 finishers.

Aside from Wrong Again (which is amazing), Martina's offerings in this RD are mediocre at best. But I still didn't expect Pulse to agree <3.
Taylor's surprising Top 40 showing <3. Back To December placing Top 35 is a stunner for me lol. Queen stays queen.
