I am honestly a little shocked to see his two most iconic hits finish at the top 2, if only because I figured their overplay was likely to make them a little more polarizing than they deserved to be! Either way, they are the perfect top 2, and though I prefer FAEA ever so slightly to DTTH, I still love them both, and there is no denying that both are among the most fittingly iconic songs in country music history. It will be interesting to see how they finish in the next rankdown of all the rankdown winners!
Edit: I also thought "Three Wooden Crosses" would be a much stronger force in this rankdown... I think that that one must have taken the brunt of the overplay polarization. I am also super pleased to see "If I Didn't Have You" in the top 3; that was an immediate standout when I discovered it in this rankdown, for similar reasons to "The Hole"! I'm thrilled to see it holding its own amongst the huge hits that everybody knows :)
