How many people would be interested in seeing Joel Whitburn’s decade end lists? It’s just the top 25 songs of every decade. I know a lot of people probably can’t afford to get his top country singles book so thought it might be nice to share them. I could even start a Joel Whitburn’s decade end thread if allowed.

Been wanting to post these for a while. Since I'm in quarantine for 2 weeks I guess now is as good as a time as any. Joel Whitburn in his top 10 singles book ranked the #1 singles by year. He ranked them by weeks at #1, followed by top 10 weeks, top 40 weeks then if there was still a tie there he went with total charted weeks. I'm gonna start with the 90's. So here is 1990.
1990
1. Love Without End, Amen - George Strait 2. I've Come To Expect It From You - George Strait 3. Jukebox In My Mind - Alabama 4. Hard Rock Bottom Of Your Heart - Randy Travis 5. Friends In Low Places - Garth Brooks 6. The Dance - Garth Brooks 7. Love On Arrival - Dan Seals 8. Nobody's Home - Clint Black 9. Next To You, Next To Me - Shenandoah 10. Walkin' Away - Clint Black 11. On Second Thought - Eddie Rabbitt 12. Come Next Monday - K.T. Oslin 13. Good Times - Dan Seals 14. I've Cried My Last Tear For You - Ricky Van Shelton 15. No Matter How High - The Oak Ridge Boys 16. Help Me Hold On - Travis Tritt 17. Chains - Patty Loveless 18. Five Minutes - Lorrie Morgan 19. Southern Star - Alabama 20. You Lie - Reba McEntire 21. Home - Joe Diffie 22. It Ain't Nothin' - Keith Whitley 23. Who's Lonely Now - Highway 101 24. You Really Had Me Going - Holly Dunn

After I posted the 1990 list yesterday I started feeling bad. Feeling a little better today so I'm gonna try posting 1 year every couple hours or so today depending on how I feel. Anyways 1991 had 29 #1 singles and here they are ranked by Joel!
1991
1. Don't Rock The Jukebox - Alan Jackson 2. Down Home - Alabama 3. You Know Me Better Than That - George Strait 4. Unanswered Prayers - Garth Brooks 5. Brother Jukebox - Mark Chesnutt 6. The Thunder Rolls - Garth Brooks 7. If I Know Me - George Strait 8. Loving Blind - Clint Black 9. I'd Love You All Over Again - Alan Jackson 10. My Next Broken Heart - Brooks & Dunn 11. She's In Love With The Boy - Trisha Yearwood 12. Anymore - Travis Tritt 13. Shameless - Garth Brooks 14. For My Broken Heart - Reba McEntire 15. Meet In The Middle - Diamond Rio 16. Walk On Faith - Mike Reid 17. Where Are You Now - Clint Black 18. Brand New Man - Brooks & Dunn 19. Keep It Between The Lines - Ricky Van Shelton 20. Forever's As Far As I'll Go - Alabama 21. Two Of A Kind, Workin' On A Full House - Garth Brooks 22. In A Different Light - Doug Stone 23. If The Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets) - Joe Diffie 24. Daddy's Come Around - Paul Overstreet 25. Rockin' Years - Dolly Parton & Ricky Van Shelton 26. Someday - Alan Jackson 27. I Am A Simple Man - Ricky Van Shelton 28. Leap Of Faith - Lionel Cartwright 29. Forever Together - Randy Travis
When I get done posting all the years and up to feeling like it my goal is to do an all time Airplay #1's list. This may take me some time as I also have to rank years 2011-2019 since Joel's top 10 book only goes thru 2010. I will have 1992 up around 9 or 10 am central time. 1992 had 25 #1 singles. Who took #1?

onebuffalo Maybe you can explain something to me. I’ve been looking at the past Billboard issues on worldradiohistory.com and the January 20 chart shows that it was Clint Black’s second week at #1 with Nobody’s Home. The real interesting part is it shows he was #1 2 weeks prior then it shows Tanya Tucker’s My Arms Stay Open All Night was the #1 song the week before. However she never hit #1 so it makes me wonder if it is counting Airplay for the songs 2 weeks before? I know Highway 101 and Keith Whitley had the Hot Country Songs #1’s January 6 & 13 respectively.

I made a thread in the general news and non single discussion are but K.T. Oslin has passed away. She scored 4 number one singles in her career. “Do Ya”, “I’ll Always Come Back”, “Hold Me” and finally her biggest hit “Come Next Monday”. She had an amazing voice and without a doubt was one of my top 10 female singers in country music.

We’ve lost another artist who reached #1 on the chart. Ed Bruce whose only #1 single “You’re The Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had” has sadly passed away. He hit # 1 in 1982 with the song and if you’re like me trying to collect all the #1 hits good luck because it’s hard to find on CD at a reasonable price. Also probably his biggest accolade was he was the writer with his wife of probably one of the most iconic songs in country music history that everyone knows, “Mamma’s Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys”. onebuffalo is the version of Ed’s #1 single on his album This Old Hat the original version?

I am very saddened to hear about the passing of Ed Bruce. I am a big fan of his songwriting and singing, even though he is better known for being the former instead of the latter. Here is a chart and video of his ONLY #1, You're The Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had. Enjoy! BILLBOARD TOP TEN FOR WEEK ENDING MARCH 6, 1982: 1. YOU'RE THE BEST BREAK THIS OLD HEART EVER HAD-ED BRUCE-MCA 2. Blue Moon With Heartache-Rosanne Cash-Columbia 3. Mountain Of Love-Charley Pride-RCA 4. Do Me With Love-Janie Frickie-Columbia 5. She Left Love All Over Me-Razzy Bailey-RCA 6. Bobbie Sue-the Oak Ridge Boys-MCA 7. The Very Best Is You-Charly McClain-Epic 8. Big City-Merle Haggard-Epic 9. The Clown-Conway Twitty-Elektra 10. Another Sleepless Night-Anne Murray-Capitol The This Old Hat CD contains rerecordings of his hits. If you recall, we have already discussed a very good Bruce compilation. I will repeat what I said here: What’s the name of the CD if you don’t mind me asking? I’m still working on my 80’s #1’s and then I’d like to start going for all the top 10’s of the 80’s. I did not forget you. Really. Anyway, the name of the CD is The Best Of Ed Bruce. It was released in 1995 on the Varese Sarabande label. I have it on cassette and CD. Here is the album art: Now, the track listing: 1. Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys 2. Diane 3. The Last Cowboy Song 4. Girls, Women & Ladies 5. Evil Angel 6. (When You Fall In Love) Everything's A Waltz 7. You're The Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had 8. Love's Found You And Me 9. Ever, Never Lovin' You 10. My First Taste Of Texas 11. Theme From 'Bret Maverick' 12. You're Not Leavin' Here Tonight 13. If It Was Easy 14. After All 15. Tell 'Em I've Gone Crazy 16. You Turn Me On (Like A Radio) 17. When Giving Up Was Easy 18. Nights I hope that was helpful!

So in my 2 rock #1 threads I posted the top 100 all time songs in both Mainstream Rock and Alternative Airplay and I have started doing the same for Country Airplay (only) in my first post above the list of #1 songs and if I did every song we'd never see much change in the top 100 all time. Anyways as of right now I'm at a stall because #1 is Lonestar's "Amazed" and #2 is Alan & Jimmy's "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere". I'm gonna need some help if anyone is willing. The first song I need help with is Luke Combs "Beautiful Crazy". I need to know how many weeks it spent in the top 10 and top 40. Like I said I May be asking for more help until I can get the top 100 done. If anyone is willing to help me with the Luke Combs info I'd really appreciate it.
