I love this! Lauren’s voice is on point, as usual. As for the song, it feels anthemic and very pop (but not anything out of country radio’s comfort zone).

I love love LOVE this! The production, the vocals and the lyrics, can't wait to see how radio responds, but if there is any justice in the world this will be a hit! I really hope this has the epic music video it deserves, and good promotion to the general public - tv appearances etc

In other lauren news, look for an announcement at some point that she's going on a mini-tour with Blake next Feb/March.

This song literally chronicles the early years of every gay boy born in the South in the early 90s. This. So much this. I'm in love with this song, but I'm not surprised. Basically everything Lauren Alaina has put out has been a home run for me. This song needs to smash so hard and be the huge hit that "Next Boyfriend" deserved to be. Everything about this song is great: love the lyrical references/message, the strong and catchy melody, and her vocal performance is perfect as usual.

Sales are looking strong for release day. #5 on iTunes Country and top 30 overall practically all day. This should warrant a few more early radio adds. Crossing my fingers this momentum holds up! For how little promo there was (and continues to be), there seems to be a lot of buzz around this song.
Also, it’s worth noting Lauren has only had a few songs peak this high on iTunes and they’ve all been under special circumstances. - “Like My Mother Does” #1 Country after American Idol finale - “Road Less Traveled” #5 Country on album release day, top 20 at radio - “What Ifs” #1 because Kane. And now “Ladies in the ‘90s” at #5 with no promo. Just awesome.

It's hard to get a listing references song right, in terms of flow but Lauren did it here. I was a little kid in the 90's and yes, it brings back memories.
I actually think the reference to "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls towards the end of the song is my favorite reference lol.

This is a good song though a couple of songs from her album are way better. She performed it really well and this girl just seemed to be a superstar so I hope it will do good on the radio.

This is the first song of hers that I loved instantly. It's so catchy and cleverly written; hope it's a hit for her.

I like this, not as in love as many above, but I like it. The references are so good that I didn't come close to catching all of them on the first listen. Something that might hold this back on radio is the references to songs that aren't in the country genre. I don't think the gatekeepers at Country radio will care about the references, but I'm not sure if the general country music listening public will catch them all. I don't know if that'll matter in the long run, but I can see many listeners not realizing just how clever the writing is to this song.

I think that what is becoming more evident over time is that the young artist in country have been raised on a broader spectrum of music. There is much more fluidity in what people listen to. This is true for the young people going to concerts also. The audience she is cultivating gets this. I predict radio will be on board as well as the listeners.

I'm actually surprised at the great reaction this is getting here.
I just heard it for the first time and, even though I like the sentiment of it, I though most of the lyrics and references were super cheesy (and I say that being a 90s kid who loves that era). Not feeling it...

Wonder if this will chart on Hot Country Songs this week considering its strong sales (or maybe next week, I'm unfamiliar with the cutoff)

Wonder if this will chart on Hot Country Songs this week considering its strong sales (or maybe next week, I'm unfamiliar with the cutoff) If it does chart, I would think it's near the bottom. That chart combines sales, airplay, & streaming. Lauren's single has very little airplay currently. I can only see her YouTube views & 33K for the single isn't a lot. Usually the majority of the songs on the chart are receiving a good amount of airplay. The exceptions are artists with very good sales & streams. For example, last week's chart had only a couple songs that weren't in the Top 50 on Billboard. They were songs by Kane Brown & Luke Combs & of course big hits such as Bebe Rexha & FGL "Meant To Be."

This is really good, and honestly its hard for me to imagine a better choice for a new lead single. This is fun, catchy, very radio friendly, and uptempo. Think this should be an easier sell to country radio. Hopefully the sales and streams will make this one hard for them to refuse.

Predictions on adds? My guess is mid 40's. Would've been higher if she got any early adds last week, but she didn't.

Predictions on adds? My guess is mid 40's. Would've been higher if she got any early adds last week, but she didn't. I would also say mid 40s with mid 30s at worst. But the fact that it got no adds last week didn't really hesitate my prediction because I remember that when "Next Boyfriend" went for adds it was going into add date with zero adds and got 43 first week adds anyway. I am feeling optimistic overall. I do hope the charts can unclog here soon because the charts are backed up badly and I really don't want Lauren Alaina to be the victim of a clogged up chart. I know Carly Pearce is about to go recurrent next week but in addition I hope in the near future Chris Janson, Eric Church, Kip Moore, LANco, Sugarland/Taylor Swift, Tyler Rich, Travis Denning, Granger Smith and Rodney Atkins also all go recurrent soon. The airplay chart can use a good cleansing.

31 adds on impact just 1 behind Kelsea Ballerini and "Miss Me More".
I was really pulling for more but 31 adds out of the gate at least means this song isn't dead on arrival. Hoping next week they can score double digit adds for the followup week.

Appears 5th on Billboard's New and Active tonight and also charts on Country Digital Song Sales at #13. Looks like a good start to me despite the lower adds. Also on the cover of Country Aircheck, too. Let's get this going.

This is probably going against the grain, but do people wait for full albums to be released before buying a particular song? Sometimes it is annoying when an artist (and plenty do this) release a single or two, and either an album never comes out, or that same song ends up on the album and you end up buying the song twice. I hope this does well on radio, it is catchy.

Sometimes it is annoying when an artist (and plenty do this) release a single or two, and either an album never comes out, or that same song ends up on the album and you end up buying the song twice. If the single is up with album pre-order, many people would have pre-ordered the album and not buy the song only, leading to poorer performance for the song, at least in the sales compartment.
