Ugh, damn it. We are so close to having our first solo female #1 in over a year with "Miss Me More" but it seems like this song is really starting to run out of steam near the end judging by today's negative bullet.
I am praying this hits #1 as we haven't had a solo female #1 on Billboard since "Legends" and that was well over a year ago.

Her first one, too! She managed to always come up just short with all her other hits. You're right. Kelsea Ballerini's Canadian chart performances of her singles: 1. Love Me Like You Mean It-2015-#3 2. Dibs-2015-#8 3. Peter Pan-2016-#4 4. Yeah Boy-2017-#2-oh so close! 5. Legends-2018-#3 6. I Hate Love Songs-did not chart-really? 7. Miss Me More-2019-#1-finally!

Did Legends get a push when it went #1? I think that's the only way this can reach #1, otherwise Whiskey Glasses should block it.

I’m gagged. I checked All Access but it’s going for adds to POP on May 20th. I didn’t see any adds date for HAC but I assume it’ll be pushed there as well (maybe with a different adds date).
However, it is under Cool New Music at HAC, not Pop which is a little confusing.
RCA will be handling the radio promotion.

Great news! I’m excited for this to cross over and hopefully become the real smash it deserves to be.

Radio was really excited for this one at first but the research came back negative, so a top 3 peak is more likely than a #1. It'll still do for Kelsea what "Night Shift" has done for Jon Pardi, recovering some of her momentum after a song that whiffed so she's in a better place heading into the next album.

It seems that AllAccess made a mistake and it's only going to be pushed to Hot AC for now, hence the reason why it's under Cool New Music in that format and not in Top 40/M. RCA will be handling the radio promotion. Well... Let's hope for the best to be honest, I guess? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And RCA is probably the worst label possible at pushing songs to radio so anything beyond Top 30 at HAC will be a success tbh lol.

I really want this song to go #1 because I loved this album, and seeing the single release strategy being such a mess was really disappointing. But at the same time I am ready for new music, and the sooner this peaks the sooner we can focus on the next era.
Realistically how many weeks till this starts to fall? I have been hoping for a new lead single this summer. Will the AC push hurt the chances of new music sooner rather than later?

Will the AC push hurt the chances of new music sooner rather than later? I don't think so. I don't see why this can't get pushed there while a new single gets pushed to country stations.

Black River will max this soon, likely either week after next (June 2-9) or the week after that (June 9-16). My bets are on June 2-9 since the research is so abysmal for this (nearly 1 in 5 radio listeners report disliking this), and radio is likely eager to take this out of rotation ASAP. Kelsea should have no trouble staying ahead of Brett Eldredge, Lee Brice, Thomas Rhett and Blake Shelton, but Morgan Wallen's got a huge record on his hands with "Whiskey Glasses," so if Big Loud decides to push Morgan for a second week at #1, Kelsea's chances of hitting the top may be in danger.
I personally like this enough, but I love "Unapologetically" a million times more and think that would've fared better as a radio single than this or "I Hate Love Songs." I also think it's a tragic mistake that "When I Think About You" never made it as an album cut or a single. That would've been a career hit for Kelsea.

I heard this for the first time today on the radio.
I loved it after the first listen.
Sounds more like a Top 40 radio hit than a country hit.

According to the Building Chart this will be at #1 on Mediabase this next Sunday. I have no doubt that Black River can secure the Mediabase #1 since everytime they've pushed a Kelsea Ballerini song they always are able to gain well over 1000 spins for the week and I imagine this won't be any different. I am more curious to see if this can also get the Billboard #1 as well.

With today's update I think this song is gonna be a Mediabase only #1 and that's it. The gap on Billboard is just way too wide for Black River to make up (almost 10 million in audience) and it does not appear Morgan Wallen is dropping slowly either.

Such an in-your-face (in a good way) ad in Country Aircheck. Wish they would've pushed that same ad in Billboard. 15 months since a solo female #1 really makes it stand out. Hoping she can pull it off.

I’m not so confident Kelsea can get the Mediabase #1 this time around. She’d need to close 1350 spins on Morgan in the next five days, an average of 270 spins per day. And Morgan’s currently up on the building chart. This is looking more like a solid #2 peak on both charts, with Whiskey Glasses finishing at #1 for a second week, as it clearly deserves having been one of the biggest hits we’ve seen this year. Still, this has moved Kelsea’s career along just fine.

Kelsea is the featured artist on Songland next week. This means she will have a new single out on Tuesday. I guess this confirms she is moving onto Album #3 pretty quick eh?

I had to look at the daily updates thread for yesterday's numbers but Morgan Wallen had a -318 loss today. Three more days of that and Kelsea should have the Mediabase #1 locked down with several hundred spins as a buffer between her and #2. Unless there's some massive audience shifts for both of them over the next few updates though, I'm questioning the Billboard #1.

There is a Songland thread in the off topic area of here, but it will be interesting to see what is pitched to her. Nashville is very close knit, and I suspect some people will know the songwriters trying to get their break.

So far none of the Songland songs have been radio pushed singles. I sort of doubt the Kelsea/Songland song will be a factor in album #3, never mind the lead single

I still think Morgan will take Billboard Airplay but stations are all in for Kelsea and Black River this week. They’re pushing hard and my guess is (after looking at the past two updates), they get the Mediabase #1 by Sunday.

"We're down 10 million with a record that's not testing well. How many donuts do you need?"
I think Kelsea'll get it on both charts now.

Kelsea Ballerini is #6 overall as Pop Score is how they rank overall callout. I see. I was sorting by positives. She's still got that ratio of one in five listeners not liking the song, but I see what y'all are talking about. There's a high demand for this song even if it elicits a negative response from other listeners. In terms of buying spins, I don't think the spins were bought because this wasn't a true hit. I just don't think a "natural" (read: not heavily influenced by record label money) chart would work like this. A more authentic way of doing things would be for Morgan to get two or three weeks since "Whiskey Glasses" is an even bigger hit, and then maybe Kelsea sneaks in a week at #1 before the next big hit gets there (maybe "God's Country"). The big push this week makes it feel less authentic and more like an "everyone gets a trophy" scenario. Next week it'll be Brett Eldredge's turn. Then Lee. Then Blake. And so on and so forth.

Welcome to modern day radio charts charts. Rotational #1 most of the time. That's how it's going to be for a long time and it makes sense. Label gets #1 song and radio can drop the song like a hot potato next week. Do I want it to be more cut throat and competitive for #1? Yes. But I have long since accepted that a new #1 for almost every week is more of the norm and that is nothing is going to change that.
