Looks like this could get 2 weeks at #1 since nobody is gonna push after this week. Is Capitol Nashville not pushing "Knockin' Boots" next week? No. if you go to country countdown USAās website whoever that weeks co-host is is usually whoās push week it is. Luke is not the co-host until week after next. Miranda hosts next week which means either Justin is getting a second week at #1 or itāll be a free for all for #1.

I donāt think that schedule is always 100% in synch with the #1 push schedule, and sometimes artists co-host at the end of their push week, especially if theyāre concerned about getting the Billboard #1.

Big Machine would prefer Justin gets two weeks but I have it on good authority that UMG Nashville wants two weeks for āKnockinā Bootsā, which I kind of chuckled at. They might try but no way every programmer will be on board with it ā many of them rather keep Justinās up there for two weeks than Lukeās.
Thereās a couple national callout platforms but the consensus is Mediabaseās is the most looked at by corporate programmers (other than local ones, which weāre not privy to), and Lukeās is pretty polarizing by his standards at 18% dislike; also at a 9% burn rate, which is getting up there. Justinās has been consistent and a strong researched single. Lukeās is selling much better but thatās not a huge factor right now. āKnockinā Bootsā just hasnāt acted like a multi-week #1 during its chart run. Itāll definitely get there and have a big push but two weeks in the heaviest rotation possible? Eh, Iām not sure about that. Justinās is at 8900 spins for the past seven days, itās clearly a song radio stations are gladly giving an asinine amount of spins to.
If Iām a program director, I want Justinās for two weeks if I had the choice of the two. After that āLivingā will soar into #1, which has been on fire since it entered the top 20-25.

Typical corporate behavior. Out-spend the indie label that has the bigger record to fake a hit with a song that would've never taken off if it were recorded by any generic name. They love to play these little games, don't they? I'll play. I'm the listener and I turn on the radio. "Knockin' Boots" comes on. I change the station. Then this comes on, I blast it up to volume 10. They're not going to force music down my ears with all their money. Folks can write whatever they want on the charts, but it won't change the fact that listeners prefer Justin to Luke this time around.

They can and do compete for number ones and spend as much at promotions as UMG.

Maybe it's not about the amount of money but rather where the funding is coming from... UMG is definitely more aggressive in promotion than Big Machine, precisely because they have corporate cash to blow. Big Machine has to watch its budget. These shady corporate folks....

Taylor Swift used to benefit from those big last week pushes to #1 with a lot of her singles before everyone else started doing it. Big Machine is a huge force and has very deep pockets. The fact that they created Taylor Swift, the literal biggest act in the music world today, is a testament to that. They're essentially on the same level in the country world as any of the major labels. At the end of the day, even if Justin Moore gets the 2-week #1 here over Luke Bryan, "Knockin' Boots" was still the bigger hit. It took 11 months for "The Ones That..." to slowly climb the airplay charts and consumer interest was pretty low for most of its run.

I knew it was pretty much a given he would get it. Now itās just a matter if he will get 2 weeks or if Luke will. Iām thinking Luke will now but hoping Justin will since he has the better song. Knockinā Boots is horrendous in my opinion. Anyways hereās the official announcement of this going #1 on both charts. onebuffalowww.wbwn.com/2019/09/03/justin-moore-the-ones-that-didnt-make-it-back-home-number-one/

Valory/BMLG is going for two weeks with Justin. ā#1 and still going strongā ads should be running tonight. āThe Ones That Didnāt Make It Back Homeā actually gained a few spins today in Tuesdayās Mediabase update, so Iām definitely thinking Justin holds off Luke and UMG this week.

They have some good choices for the second single, but I'm hoping for "Airport Bar". That one is such a jam and earworm, I think it would be another #1 for Justin. "Why We Drink" would be my second choice.

It took 11 months for "The Ones That..." to slowly climb the airplay charts and consumer interest was pretty low for most of its run. Good point about the insane Taylor pushes. I'd agree that Big Machine's super powerful for an independent label...I just wonder if they're still a bit more limited in the amount of resources available than some other labels. Maybe it's not even a corporate vs. independent thing. Warner, for example, is a corporate label that doesn't generally succeed at super huge #1 pushes, like the ones they did last year for "All on Me," "The Long Way," and "I Lived It." I guess it's really just a country radio problem. Anyway, country radio appears to agree with your judgement of the Justin and Luke hits, as Luke looks likely to take over the #1 spot easily on both charts this week. He's already #1 on the Mediabase building chart, and shouldn't be too far behind on Billboard. Plus he'll collect the extra syndicated countdown spins from Lon Helton's program this weekend to deliver the final smack to Justin over at Billboard by Monday morning. Hopefully, Capitol realizes the grave danger Carrie's "Southbound" is in of missing #1 and decides to let Luke settle for one week at #1 and move on to pushing Dierks and Carrie next week. If Luke gets two weeks, that delays everything a week and increases the chances of Carrie missing #1. It'd really be painful for Carrie's label to let another artist get two weeks at #1 at the price of her potentially getting zero weeks at the top.
