I agree Ray and you called this a while back, this song is not connecting. The general FGL fatigue has been showing lately anyway and this song just isn't that great. It will definitely start to pick up steam a bit but I see another top 15 finish with this one. I have to wonder if the whole album roll-out hurt consumer interest. "Smooth" flamed and then they took a break while "Meant to Be" was on the charts.. I mean, "Simple" and "Colorado" were released last May and we still don't have an album... We do havs an album. The album is called Can't Say I Ain't Country and it is to be released next month. February 15th, 2019 to be exact. The album isn't going to be released for another month so we still don't "have an album." It's been announced and is finally coming out soon, but I think it probably would've been in their best interest to put it out late last year... unless the reason for the delay was because it wasn't finished yet, for whatever reason (though somehow I doubt that).

Exactly, that's almost 9 months from when the first two songs come out. "Colorado" feels old now and this song clearly won't be doing much of anything in the next month so there will be very little created buzz about the album after a misstep with "Smooth" and a break from radio (despite being featured on two hits). I just feel like everything from them since "HOLY" has been very jumbled and stop-and-go after two album cycles that had pretty good flow.

Yeah, aside from all the big hits FGL have been featured on, it doesn't feel like they've put out a big hit themselves since May We All. That's over two years ago and their momentum with radio feels like it's faded a lot. That being said, People Are Different could definitely be that big hit their career really needs. (I'm already hearing it on terrestrial radio stations.) I think they'll be fine in the long-run, especially since a lot of radio's A-listers have been putting out singles that received cooler reception from radio than usual lately. I think it's also possible, as was noted earlier in the thread, that Talk You Out of It just got off to a slower start because FGL already had three #1s last year and radio just wasn't ready to jump on a new single so quickly. There's a good chance a lot of programmers were just waiting until the new year when recurrent airplay for Meant to Be, Up Down, and Simple died down to convert this one. We'll see if it starts taking off in the next few weeks now that the new year's underway.

People, "Simple" finished at #7 on the Hot Country Songs year-end chart. Where is this notion that FGL haven't had a big hit in a while or are devoid of any momentum? "Simple" was just the previous single, it wasn't 5 years ago. Radio simply just isn't into "Talk You Out Of It" much, most likely since its heavily R&B leaning. They'll be able to have one dud and be able to rebound.

Yeah, I'm confused as well. "Simple" slowed down a lot as it climbed through the top 10 due to a crowded chart + some polarizing research, but the song still went over incredibly well with consumers and radio still turned it into a big hit. "Talk You Out of It" isn't connecting nearly as well, which disappoints me because this is definitely my favorite single release to date, but I don't think it's going to even remotely derail their career or anything. Not to mention, between the success of "Simple," "Up Down," and especially "Meant to Be," 2018 was like one of the biggest years they could've possibly had, lol.

I’m dumbfounded as to how People Are Different wasn’t the single over this song. DUMBFOUNDED. Miffed. Confused. That song is huge and timely.

While I certainly don't disagree that "People Are Different" would have been a good single choice, the early response to "Talk You Out of It" was the strongest among the songs they've released prior to the album (it had the best debut on the Hot Country Songs chart). "Talk" is currently selling quite well on iTunes despite the more sluggish start at country radio and for its current level of airplay, so I'm still not sure why it hasn't taken off faster, but I feel like the consumer interest for this one seems to be more than fine for it.

I found it hokey, trite, and a lower quality retread of "Most People Are Good" and "Love Wins". There's a little mini-trend of preachy songs about holding hands and singing kumbaya that are being pumped to country radio, and while I don't have a problem with the message, these songs feel like calculated attempts to virtue signal. That said, personal taste is just that - personal taste. What I find hokey you may find meaningful.

I think "Talk You Out of It" was the right single given the buzz before the song was released to radio, where as "People Are Different" kind of fell off after a couple of weeks.
I do think radio is a bit burned out on the amount of FGL they have gotten the past year. Between "Simple", "Meant to Be", "Up Down", and this there is just so much Florida Georgia Line

I got my eyes (or ears in this case) on that Jason Aldean duet on the new album. If it’s any good that could be a huge single for the both of them.

Simple: Mumfordesque pop-folk reject gone country Meant to Be: Bubblegum pop Up Down: Bro-country rerun Talk You Out of It: R&B-Country sexjam It's not just overexposure, it's overexposure combined with whiplash from all the different styles.

I really liked this when I first heard it. The hook is clever and it was a different sound for them that was refreshing. However, I burned on this FAST. Very ready for this to peak and for something else from them.

This is, by far, the most boring song I have ever heard from them. I will have to make sure I don’t catch this on the radio while driving so I don’t fall asleep behind the wheel. Not surprised radio is being slow with this.

"Women" feat. Jason Derulo was released today:

"Women" surpassed my expectations (based on the title) with flying colors but it still sounds like rehash of songs like "You Make It Easy" and "Blue Ain't Your Color".

Why does everyone have to chase trends? I like "Blue Ain't Your Color," but I don't need ten more of it.

"Women" is pretty boring for a Florida Georgia Line song. I mean its not bad and could have been much worse, but sounds like something I'd fall asleep to late at night. I hope they don't release it to to country radio. Sounding like this album is going to be all over the place sonically.

"Talk You Out of It" finally enters the Top 30 on Mediabase this week at #28 with a great bullet of 320. Expect Billboard to follow suit tomorrow.
Besides "People Are Different", none of the songs released before this album have really screamed hit. With "Talk You Out of It" being underwhelming when it comes to radio and taking over 3 and a half months to make the Top 30, I don't feel like this era will see the radio success their last 3 album eras have.
"Women" is just not good, and I don't get why Jason Derulo is there. He doesn't add anything to this song.

I have to echo what a previous commenter said in the thread. I miss the old FGL. I think they honestly gave all the songs that would’ve been hit for them to Morgan Wallen and Hardy. I know both of them guys write with FGL but think about it. Could you not hear FGL on the radio with “Rednecker” or even “Whiskey Glasses? Morgan has already passed them on the charts and at the speed this song is moving Hardy may pass them up too. I have to say though if they were to release “Y’all Boys” the duet with Hardy they could easily gain their groove back I think. In other words as much as I hate to say it, FGL go back to your roots, bro country because these last 2 singles have made me cringe.

It’s release day for FGL (aka “Y’all Boys”), and wow, this album is horrendous. The skits are cringeworthy. Brian Kelly has possibly the worst voice to ever record a country song. This album will for sure win the worst album of the year award, if not the worst album in the history of music.
It’s a very unpopular opinion, but I liked their original stuff. Just stick to TH doing the singing; no need to ruin a song by giving BK a lead. The new stuff, over the last 2 albums, has been so boring. Their albums have gotten worse every era.

The new album is fine, but they have tended to give their upbeat hits to their younger contemporaries as of recent times. Still enjoy “Colorado” and “Can’t Say I Ain’t Country”. The album will still sell relatively well, but their upcoming tour will be huge thanks to their collab hits and having Dan and Shay as direct support.

I can’t believe the skits on the album. Are they 5? Even their own fans will think that’s dumb. I can’t imagine this album era will be very good for them.
I love People Are Different, but with Hubbard’s IG post challenging other artists to agree with him, it makes him look really hypocritical. That’ll be a huge hit though, as it should be.
Colorado is a jam. I enjoy Blessings. Outside of that, pretty weak from top to bottom.

I bought the CD after work today as I work for a company that still sells CDs anyways I figured I’d grab it. Anyways I couldn’t help but notice as I was reading the songwriters of the songs in the booklet that every instant gray song that was released prior to the album release was co-written by Hardy. I thought that was quite odd. I mean he already is cruising up the charts with “Rednecker” so why didn’t he just cut these for his album? Then again maybe he will.

Wow, you're so trendy. And sorry my answer wasn't good enough for you. I figured that one of the most successful duos in country music currently who are coming off their BIGGEST hit of their career (which has also had HUGE crossover appeal) wouldn't be questioned that people pay to see them. I overestimated your intelligence and I apologize for that.

As a fan of theirs since their debut, this is easily their weakest album. It’s not bad, but the songs aren’t quite as dynamic. Feels a little mauled in to be honest. The title track is pretty good, along with “People Are Different”, but I see this being a modest era for them at radio.
