People Are Different needs to be the next single. It could be a career hit for them.
I think this'll last another month or so and manage a top 15 peak. If "Love Wins" could last 32 weeks, then this could probably last 30-35 weeks, too. Crazy to think of an FGL song spending eight months on the chart, but the new norm for chart run lengths is a lot longer for everyone these days. Even Luke Bryan's new lead single isn't exactly racing up the charts.

A good, inoffensive song, but I feel like they need an upbeat rocker to get back to a number one song. “People Are Different” can be the fourth single for the fall. Still don’t know the best choice for the next single though. “Can’t Hide Red” or the title track would do well imo

Yeah, "People Are Different" wouldn't be a good follow-up single to this one at all. Apparently the label thinks so too since it isn't one of the songs being tested for the third single anyway.

I’m pretty confident their next single will be released in June or July, which would probably mean a peak in November-December. They won’t fly there with single #3 off this record. If “People Are Different” is released, it would likely be at the beginning of Q1 2020 or the earliest, the end of Q4 2019.
”People Are Different” should have been the follow-up to “Simple.” “Talk You Out of It” has sold well (like many of their singles) but it’s not exciting programmers and listeners. It was definitely a terrible choice for radio. As much as I loathe these guys uptempos, those ones usually are received relatively well with programmers, so makes sense to go back to that well after this single is through. I think fatigue with FGL is setting in however, with this one’s sluggish climb to the top 20, “Simple’s” long climb (for them) to #1 and before that, “Smooth’s” stall in the top 15. That could be just the songs themselves or single choices but I think others have passed them in popularity at this point with radio. I still see them being big players the next couple years but they won’t be as big as they were 2013-2016.

Just got another Radio Traks survey to help pick the next single. The choices this time were “Colorado”, “People Are Different” and “Sittin’ Pretty”. People Are Different was the hands down choice for me of them 3.

There's honestly no reason why this one is inching up the charts at a relative snails pace. This song is streaming and selling pretty well, and I can't imagine the callout is very poor either. Seems like radio PD's have an agenda with this one for some reason.

Good news: "Talk You Out of It" moves up 3 spots this week on Mediabase and lands at #13.
Bad news: I can't see a Top 10 finish even on Mediabase. This song is really starting to emerge as one of the weak links in the Top 20, and this doesn't have a ton of life. I do think if the label holds onto this in a couple of weeks they can get this up to #11 (both Brett Eldredge and Thomas Rhett will probably fall below by then). But I can't pinpoint a third song to fall below them before either the label gives up or Brantley Gilbert/Lindsay Ell and Runaway June pass "Talk You Out of It".
I am kind of shocked this song has been such an underperformer, I have never cared for it, but this sounded radio friendly enough to me that I thought for sure it would be a Top 5 at least.

I really hope this can just at least sneak up to #13 on Billboard to out-peak "Smooth" because it would be tragic for this great song to replace that dreck as their lowest-charting effort. I love this and am sad to see it underperform for them, but I'm also a little ready for them to just move on from it since it has spent months running in place it seems. Maybe it can sneak into the #11-13 range in the next few weeks and they'll call it good.

I'm just surprised this didn't catch on with listeners more. It's not their best effort, but there's nothing that stands out about it that should justify an A-list act that regularly takes every single to #1 peaking outside the top 10. But yeah, by this point it's best to just move on. Maybe push this one more week and then release "People Are Different."

The reason this song is moving so slow is that it is boring and the same song just rewritten by a getting tired act (FGL). Its just a crappy song and FGL is just not adapting to where country is going. People are moving away from FGL. When radio won't play FGL songs you know its bad. This might be selling but the numbers I saw are not like a good FGL song would sell. So sales shouldn't be driving the song up the chart. FGL needs to adapt. Just my humble opinion.

I'm lukewarm on "Talk You Out Of It", but I don't think it's like any other single they have released. Maybe "H.O.L.Y." but unless I'm not correctly recalling these songs correctly, I don't remember any of them being basically the sex jam that this is. I think they took a gamble on this song, it is getting a so-so reception by FGL standards and have some really good songs left on Can't Say I Ain't Country to get back to the forefront. My hunch is that "Can't Hide Red" with Jason Aldean would be next, but there's multiple intriguing choices to go with next. FGL will be just fine. If this stalls right where it is, they'll really only have two flops so far in their career and both of those 'flops' made it to be Top 15 songs.

All right, this week is the perfect week to max this out for a #11 peak. Then move on for "People Are Different." This was a nice experiment and I'm a bit disappointed it couldn't go higher, but now's the time to max out and move on. I just don't see this getting into the top ten with the log jam that's probably about to occur with "God's Country" and "Beer Never Broke My Heart" getting a bunch of weeks at #1.

Okay this one has out-peaked "Smooth" now at least so I don't care what happens from here on out. Would love to see it sneak into the top 10 if that's still possible, but I'm also ready for them to move on because this is approaching 40 weeks old on the charts at this point.

I'm really surprised at how slowly this has moved, and also that this is still going. At this point they may as well hold out for a top 10 finish, but I'm very surprised that it has taken them this long to get there.

This is the perfect week for a max spins push from the label. Lee could go recurrent on next Monday's Billboard chart, freeing up a spot in the top ten for this. But after that, this really needs to throw in the towel. There's no foreseeable path to a peak higher than #10.

I think pushing this up the charts for nearly 40 weeks will do more harm than good for FGL’s career in the long run. Sure, a top 10 would be nice, but by pushing this for 15 weeks longer than the time a regular FGL single would spend on the charts the chances of follow-up singles doing well have dropped dramatically. I don’t think this album has a “Southbound” to revive this era nor are there any high-profile performances coming up where they can jump-start a new single. Am I alone in thinking they should just take a break and come back in a year or so?

They are touring in some of the biggest venues they’ve ever played in. I still think that they have some big songs left in them though, so I’m not opposed to a shorter album cycle.

By this point, since this song's already been out nine months, BMLG might as well keep pushing it until the bottom caves in completely and just try for as high a peak position as possible. Maybe they can at least achieve a single-digit peak. I agree with lady𝓐fan that this is going to burn hard and they're not going to have a ton of momentum after this ridiculously long chart run, but I still think "People Are Different" or "Can't Hide Red" can slowly rebuild some of their lost momentum. As for this chart run, the damage to their momentum is already done, so there's nothing to lose by pushing this a few more weeks until radio refuses to give it any more spins and it collapses.

“Hey Ya’ll” or “Cant Hide Red” would easily restore their “momentum”. These guys are fine.

Can't Hide Red is a no brainer. Aldean will be in between album cycles after Rearview Town peaks. Perfect timing.

“Can’t hide red” or “y’all boys” would do really well. I don’t really think they could go wrong with “small town”, “cants say I ain’t country”, or “Colorado” though. All of those are more like old fgl.

So i was just in all access and noticed the rather nice bullet this had for the week. Kinda took me by surprise i really thought Carrie would pass them this week but instead they had a better week than she did. Was this the possible last gasp for this song? We'll see.

I've been thinking this was in its final week of bulleting for several weeks now, lol. However, this should finally make the top 10 on Billboard this week if "Whiskey Glasses" goes recurrent, so I'm thinking this may be finally nearing the end of its run. FGL could get a #7 peak on Mediabase if they keep gaining one more week, with Maren and Eric likely to fall below and Blake going recurrent, so by this point I think it makes sense for BMLG to keep pushing this as long as they can, at least through next Monday to achieve that single-digit peak position.
