Just to add fuel to the fire, let us not forget Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans. Oh yes, I did forget about them (and they're probably the most likely to both see a decent amount of success) and raylatch98 girl educate yourself on some Ruston Kelly!!! He released maybe my 2nd favorite country album of the year after only his wife (okay 3rd behind Carrie but still)

omg plz be joking. Well "To a T" needs to smash so hopefully he'll be a hit soon. Nope, I disagree with you on 90% of things sis, but this is 1000% correct (and I think a lot of the board would agree [except LBTrocks ]) I'm not joking about Ruston Kelly. I just YouTube searched him and nothing is looking familiar at all. As far as Ryan Hurd is concerned Sony has seemed to brushed him aside and are all in on Luke Combs, and Kane Brown and are more interested in trying to break out and probably will fail with Seth Ennis and Carlton Anderson. I can think of a few other Carly Pearce detractors or Michael Ray worshipers ( .indulgecountry Kanenrá:ke and jhomes87 all come to mind). I don't care for either Carly Pearce or Michael Ray lol. But, with that said, I don't think I've ever really commented (either positively or negatively) on a Carly Pearce song (although maybe I've simply forgotten), and I'm pretty sure I've been mostly critical of Michael Ray as well -- definitely not a Michael Ray "worshiper" lol. I liked Carly when she sang on the Josh Abbott Band's "Wasn't That Drunk" and I like the lyrics of "Every Little Thing", but I think I'd like both songs a lot more if literally almost any other female artist sang them instead of Carly. I'm just not a fan of her voice. As for Michael Ray, "Think A Little Less" is his only semi-decent single, but it's average at best. "Get To You" wasn't bad but it just wasn't memorable either. "Kiss You In The Morning" and "Real Men Love Jesus" are both pretty awful, and "One That Got Away" might be his worst song yet. So I don't really like either of them, at all. I guess I'd probably say Carly is a little better because she's had some songs with decent lyrics, but I definitely don't like "Hide The Wine" (one of my least favorite songs of the year) and I haven't given "Closer To You" a listen yet.

I love them both....but i feel like the next country power couple is probably Kelsea & Morgan.
But back to this song..,.its been pretty much on repeat since yesterday....perfect blend of pop country and country elements. I’m a big fan, and i loved her debut. I wanted Doin’ It Right or Ride Home released, but i can see why they went this route for sure.

I think it's interesting to note that in all of those situations (including Kelsea/Morgan since that was later thrown into the mix too), the female artist is bigger than the male artist, except for maybe Carly/Michael since they're both on similar footing right now. However, it's way too early imo to contemplate a single one of those couples being "the next Tim/Faith" though. Like, none of them have even released a single duet to country radio and they're still all very freshly married or paired up. Miranda and Blake were both superstar A-listers and recorded several collaborations over the years they were together, and they never came anywhere close to being "the next Tim/Faith" so... yeah, I don't see it in the immediate future for any of them.

No need to apologize for that lol I got curious just now and funnily enough both of them have the exact same number of plays in my library. The fact that I have 2 full albums from Michael however shows I do play Carly more.

I have been vocal in the past about not being a Carly Pearce fan. I don't like her voice and didn't like her debut album. On first listen, this song sounds better to me than most of her work. The chorus is quite nice. I still don't care for her vocals, and the instrumentation/production in the verse isn't my thing. I think this'll grow on me though, and it might become the first Carly Pearce song I end up enjoying enough to revisit. I'm already liking the chorus better as I'm listening to it again.

This is really good. Modern and sleek yet undeniably country in terms of the production. That dobro solo is awesome. Nothing groundbreaking lyrically, but lyrics aren’t always that important to me. Definitely rooting for this one.

Where does everyone see this song doing add wise tomorrow? This song had 5 stations already.
If I had to wager a guess. I would say between 35 to 45 total stations.

This song is such a smash. Only love it more after each listen. So here for Carly Pearce breaking out. It seems intristing that they came out with a lead single so quickly after Hide The Wine, but I'm here for it. I bet Marens team is waiting to see how this does out the gate at radio since they may have a similar approach soon with her lead. It seams like she has her project almost done by the looks of her Twitter. I really think Carly could break out here and im super digging her sound. I hope she does a lot more promotion for this era. Bigger budget videos. Bring us all the goods Carly.

Bigger budget videos. Bring us all the goods Carly. 60 to 75 seems a bit much just because I am looking at all the songs that have gone for adds the past month. Tim McGraw "Neon Church" 111 stations Rascal Flatts "Back to Life" 75 stations Brothers Osborne "I Don't Remember Me Before You" 33 stations Chris Lane "I Don’t Know About You" 29 stations Kelsea Ballerini "Miss Me More" 45 stations Lauren Alaina "Ladies In The 90s" 31 stations Walker McGuire "Growin Up" 21 stations Waterloo Revival "Wonder Woman" 21 stations Luke Bryan "What Makes You Country" 66 stations Dillon Carmichael "Dancing Away With My Heart" 24 stations Justin Moore "The Ones That Didn't Make It Back Home" 38 stations Michael Tyler "Remember These Words" 13 stations Raelynn "Tailgate" 9 stations Pistol Annies "Got My Name Changed Back" 9 stations Florida Georgia Line "Talk You Out of It" 40 stations Old Dominion "Make It Sweet" 72 stations. Looking at all the songs that have gone for adds recently and given Carly Pearce's momentum. I think this song will land in the Justin Moore range or just a bit above. That said I agree. I really want this song to succeed.

I would say low to mid 30’s, especially with Cole and Brad going for adds. Women especially new women reallly don’t carry momentom from song to song to any great degree.

Pulled a nice 42 adds: 23 less than Brad but 12 more than Cole. Pretty impressive, in my opinion. There is clearly momentum for this song.

Solid start and shows radio is still behind her. Could be the next “must add” country female behind Carrie, Kelsea and Maren...(seems like Miranda no longer is that)

"Closer to You" moved up 7 spots on Mediabase to #65. According to the Mediabase PDF Carly Pearce has 276 spins on Mediabase.
Like I said in my chart predictions, I do think their is a very strong chance that "Closer to You" debuts on Billboard tonight.

Yeah, this grew on me. I really like this. This is the first song from Carly that I've truly enjoyed, although I recently discovered that "I Need A Ride Home" from her debut is pretty good too. Anyway, the chorus on this is so strong. I have also gown to appreciate the warmth of the verse, despite my initial reaction to the production. This should do very well for her.

This entered the MB Top 50 at #49, with a higher bullet than Brad Paisley and Cole Swindell! Ends up officially debuting in the Mediabase Top 50 at #44 gaining 9 spots on the chart as Carly Pearce passes Morgan Evans, Cole Swindell, Billy Currington, Brad Paisley, Lauren Alaina, David Lee Murphy, Justin Moore, Brantley Gilbert/Lindsay Ell (hangover week after big debut), and the freefalling Travis Denning. "Closer to You" also has the highest bullet of the songs in the 31-50 range. Very optimistic about this song in 2019.
