Yikes, this is struggling way more than I expected it to. Radio seems to like Carly Pearce more than the average new female enough to let this one get off to a decent start, but it's clearly not connecting. I think this is much better and sounds like more of a radio hit than "Hide the Wine," but at this point it doesn't look like it's going to get as far as that one did. So sad. Basically the only Carly song that I've truly liked thus far.

Yes, a great shame. I thought the production sounded very 'radio friendly', even more than her previous more succesful singles but it hasn't connected. :(

I will say on the upside. The fact that such a non event single managed to hit the Top 25 for a new female artist does make me think country radio is still really invested in her and will have faith in the next single. They just probably want a song that connects more to listeners.
Maybe a ballad type of song wouldn't be a bad idea to release in July/August to radio. As I could see a song similar to "Every Little Thing" connecting more than this one did.

This gets another week at #32, but loses AI again. I like the song, but I don't really see it getting any higher at radio. It's probably time to move on to something else.

I really think this will get a marathon chart run to the top 10. It just needs time for listeners to hear it. Unfortunately, it'll probably time out just around the top 10.

Another song that is done. "Closer to You" has a negative bullet over 300 today and should go recurrent on Billboard this Monday.
Mediabase Peak was #23 and Billboard was #29.
Unfortunately this song could never sell anything at all. I think radio does genuinely love Carly Pearce, but this song never pushed the needle at all. Hopefully whatever they release next can generate some buzz.

Not surprised this one is done, as it's been treading water for a long time. It got off to a good start, but country radio only carried it so far with a lack of interest from the general public. It's a shame because I loved this and thought it was better and more accessible for radio than "Hide the Wine," but that was apparently a minority opinion, lol.

I do think radio is behind Carly but to me this was just too overproduced and bland. It didn't build on anything from her first album. Her first two singles held a unique sound and feel about them while this one just kind of felt mailed in and mainstream.
I think there is enough recognition and interest in her between her first two singles (and the other two that The Highway played quite a bit) that she can just continue delivering unique songs like from her debut album--no need to play it safe.

I loved her debut album, but this single never really did anything for me- I've only played it 5 times on last.fm. They couldn't wait to send this out when Hide The Wine finally made the top ten so hopefully they're chomping at the bit again and have something else already ready.

I thought this was radio-friendly and generic but obviously it never caught on with the audience so its peak makes complete sense. I actually wish they waited a little before moving on to a new era. I really thought that If My Name Was Whiskey would have done really well if released.
Now I think their next step is to release a surefire song that is something radio would play but still unique enough to be distinguished to Carly, the artist. Every Little Thing was fantastic and a surefire hit while not being generic. And not just that, radio took Hide the Wine all the way to #11! And the sales weren’t too awful (it always lingered in the lower section of Top 100 on iTunes). They both were unique and this is why I say bring on bold, different songs! Maybe this is something they could think about.

So frustrating. No this wasn't her most incredible song but it's good and should have theoretically made it farther. Add this to the list of female songs that died out early for no reason this year (thinking Carly, Tenille, Lauren, Ashley, etc.)

I'm super surprised and disappointed about how this one turned out. Yeah, the numbers aren't great but this really sounds like the type of song that radio likes to play and Carly has a lot of radio support so I thought this would be able to manage a slow, quiet run into the top 15. I also really enjoyed this song so it's a shame I didn't end up getting to hear it more on the radio. Hopefully her next release manages to catch on in a bigger way.

This was such a huge letdown initially, but after a couple more listens, I decided to stop listening lol Soooo generic and also, there's nothing catchy about it, and well, I think this went too high as it is.

I agree - this offered nothing original and she isn't established enough to not deliver top notch material and expect to take anything up the charts in this current climate. I hope she has something better coming next, because aside from her lead single, she hasn't really impressed me.

Really sad to see this happen. Should’ve stuck with “Whiskey” as 3rd single from her debut. I think it would’ve been a hit.

I hardly ever heard this in Wichita but I've been home in KC for a week to visit family and I can't escape hearing this on the radio, which is especially funny knowing the bottom has already collapsed on it. It's funny how things differ from place-to-place.

So I guess that completed album won’t see the light of day till sometime next year?

So I guess that completed album won’t see the light of day till sometime next year? Most female artists need at least a top 20 hit to get their record out, so yes.

For what its worth, she is FANTASTIC live. I really hope they've got something exciting, something with some depth lined up for release. We need her to stick around.

Radiotrak sent out a 5-song survey - "I Won't Always Be Like This" - "Heart's Going Out Of It's Mind" - "Halfway Home" - "You Kissed Me First" - "Call Me"
My fav is definitely I Won’t Always Be Like This, maybe because that was the first one on the list. Needless to say, they all sound pretty good
