#17 – ‘Whose Life Am I In”Points: 337 Standard Deviation: 3.6695 Average Ranking: 15.3 Highest Rank: Leo ✔ #4 Lowest Rank: sabre14 & dub #20
“Could this be my twist of fate? A dollar short, a little late Could this all be just a dream? Or something more than in-between? Rebound, unwound, back in the playground All night, never right, let’s go fly a kite Whose life am I in?”We lose another soundtrack song here as Kristyn’s effort on “Whose Life Am I In” for the Raising Helen soundtrack comes in at #17. The song was recorded by the group for the soundtrack (and Sweet Right Here) but the movie people preferred Kristyn’s demo to the fully produced country track and used it instead. The demo version featured on the soundtrack (and in this rankdown) has an indie-rock feel. The song itself depicts someone who is actively questioning their place in the world and wondering if there is more to life than what meets the eye. The SHeDAISY version was a bonus track on the Target edition of Sweet Right Here. We continue to murder Leo ✔ 's list with killing off another Top 5, but we only lose two #20s here.
Austin’s take: I love this song! The SHeDAISY version is great. I like the Kristyn version because its pretty simplistic compared to their usual material and its nice giving her a chance to take the wheel on lead vocals (pun intended). I hoped to see this one a little higher, but with material this strong, this was going to happen.Leo ✔ 4 bboat11 9 kw9461 12 austin 12 .indulgecountry 14 George Strait Junkie 14 ChicaCherry콜라 14 Cody Wants Out... 15 toomuchboy 16 castleoblivion26 16 tim 16 gardyfan 16 Kanenrá:ke 16 someguy 17 LBTrocks 17 d3vin44 17 ClevelandRox 17 zaclord 🌈 17 bigfan101 19 SHOOTER 19 sabre14 20 dub 20 The clue was from the lyric “lets go fly a kite”

So far this is off to a pretty good start!! No complaints at all. "Deep Deep Water" was a very obvious last place, since the only version we could find sounded like it was recorded in deep deep water... "Whose Life Am I In" was apparently my #9, but I don't remember it at all, so I'm not too mad. I'll check it out again soon, and then I'll probably be mad.

#16 – ‘Something To Talk About’
Points: 287
Standard Deviation: 3.86039
Average Ranking: 13
Highest Rank: bboat11 #6 Lowest Rank: three #18s
“Let's give them something to talk about A little mystery to figure out Let's give them something to talk about How about love, love, love, love?”The secret’s out! 'Something to Talk About' finishes at #16 in the SHeDAISY Rankdown. Featured on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for The Guardian, 'Something to Talk About' is told from a female narrator’s point of view and paints the story of two friends who everyone assumes to be a couple, but in reality are not. However, the narrator later suggests they get together, since everyone assumes it to be so anyway. An oft-covered song, the original recording was released in 1991 by Bonnie Raitt and earned a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year and earned the win for Pop Female Vocal Performance. bboat11 loses a #6 and there were multiple Top 10 losses here but most of the pack ranked this in the teens.
Austin’s take: I think this is a great song and I think SHeDAISY covered it beautifully. This is how I like cover songs done, if they are going to be done at all. Just enough originality to make it SHeDAISY without losing the core essence of the song. I also think the harmonies stand out here and this one should have gone a little higher in this RankDown. I wish this had been sent as a proper radio single in the downtime between Fortuneteller's Melody and what was supposed to be A Story To Tell - I think it could have made the Top 20/25 at the time.bboat11 6 someguy 7 gardyfan 8 Cody Wants Out... 8 Leo ✔ 8 SHOOTER 11 d3vin44 11 austin 11 zaclord 🌈 12 George Strait Junkie 12 dub 14 kw9461 14 Kanenrá:ke 15 bigfan101 15 tim 15 ChicaCherry콜라 16 LBTrocks 16 toomuchboy 17 .indulgecountry 17 sabre14 18 ClevelandRox 18 castleoblivion26 18 The clue was Lee Brice's "Rumor", which while I think that's an OK song, is really just a total ripoff of this one.

"Something To Talk About" is out way too early. This song bops hard!!! It's one of those songs that I recognized immediately from my childhood, and therefore was flooded with nostalgia, which definitely contributed to my super high rank for it.

#15 – ‘Deck The Halls’Points: 277
Standard Deviation: 4.29462
Average Ranking: 12.6
Highest Rank: bigfan101 #2 Lowest Rank: Leo ✔ #19 "'Tis the season (We wish you a merry Christmas) 'Tis the season (We wish you a merry Christmas) Deck the halls with boughs of holly Fa la la, la la la 'Tis the season to be jolly Fa la la, la la la"
We lose the final Christmas song in this set, which means Brand New Year is the first album to get completely wiped out. SHeDAISY’s take on ‘Deck The Halls’ is very favorably regarded not only here on Pulse but I think in country circles in general as THE best rendition of the song out there, and spawned the entire idea for Brand New Year. The song originally was featured in a Mickey Mouse Christmas movie, and charted in the Top 40 on the Country charts in 1999, leading Lyric Street to green light a full Christmas project for the next year. I am so grateful they did, as the SHeDAISY star faded for a while after their debut album, and if one hadn’t come in 2000, I don’t think one ever would have. And Brand New Year rocks. bigfan101 loses a #2 here, but we finally help Leo ✔ a little and remove his #19!
Austin’s take: I kind of said it above, but this is such a gem to my ears and I absolutely love it. They really mixed the song up and made it their own, but its still singalongable like the traditional tune. I miss their music so much. This feels like the right time for this one, as their prominent songs are featured the rest of the way.RANKINGS:
No one tried for the clue, but it was TROLL the ancient yuletide CAROL. LOL.

POP QUIZ for #14- Every elimination from here on out will be extremely painful for all of us. It's hard as the host, to know you know when a song you love so much is going to be eliminated. I am a little gunshy to post what's coming next, but I pray you will all be OK with our first proper radio single biting the dust at #14. Is it: This Woman Needs? Get Over Yourself? Lucky 4 You (Tonight I'm Just Me)?![](https://i.makeagif.com/media/1-14-2019/HrVNm2.gif) or Come Home Soon?![](https://i.makeagif.com/media/1-16-2019/jOTiSZ.gif) Oops I put clues from all four songs in the post. ![:kii:](http://i38.tinypic.com/2roouqh.jpg)

Standard Deviation: 4.93266
Average Ranking: 12
Highest Rank: toomuchboy & dub #3 Lowest Rank: ChicaCherry콜라 #20 “Cause this woman needs A safe place to land The strength in your hands To know you know What this woman needs Is somewhere to cry So lay by my side And I'll tell you What this woman needs” I guess what these Pulse Members needed was to say goodbye to a country radio Top 10 as 'This Woman Needs' finds its safe place to land at #14. A waltzy ballad, the song was the second ever radio single for SHeDAISY, reaching #9 on the Billboard chart in early 2000. ‘This Woman Needs’ depicts a female narrator needing her male counterpart to be strong for her and listen/support her through everything. We lose FOUR top 5 rankings here, but also a #20. The standard deviation was high here but nothing close to our most polarizing track.
Austin’s take: Never a favorite of mine. I actually wish ‘Punishment’ had been their second single, as I think it would have performed even better than this one did. It’s not bad (almost nothing they put out is/was) but its not one I revisit unless listening to the entire The Whole SHeBANG album. I am happy it’s the first proper single eliminated. RANKINGS:

Wow I thought “This Woman Needs” was a lock for the top 10 and surprised to see myself being one of the highest rankers for it. I’m equally surprised by some of the lower rankings this received...what’s wrong with this song??? I’m honestly not the biggest fan of this group but this song has always been one that I’ve enjoyed especially the chorus.
