I believe the AT40 record for most weeks at #1 since the show started is Photograph by Nickelback at 15 weeks in 2005. I am just listening to the Ryan's Hot AC Songs of the 2000s show, and remembered that Photograph did not rank in the decade's top 40 (and was played as an extra), while Nickelback's 3 other songs (How You Remind Me at #7, Someday at #17, and Gotta Be Somebody at #36) did so.

Thanks for the updated list Upland; it is always appreciated!! Each week, Ryan promotes listening to the rebroadcast of the countdown on the app, but I have noticed that it is the CHR edition, NOT the Hot AC version. If one misses a countdown during the weekend, is there any other place where you can here a streaming Hot AC edition of the countdown. It is a shame that they don't put it on the IHeart app since that would be the logical place for it. Any thoughts?

I hope that it will happen some time.

I wish I could be that optimistic Upland but if that was the case, they could have offered the show a long time ago on either the website, the IHeart app or both. I recall hearing some years ago that the Hot AC version of the countdown is a poor cousin to the main attraction; the regular CHR countdown. The main reason behind offering an alternative HAC edition has more to do with market clearance in areas where the main AT40 wasn’t picked up then a sincere interest in serving fans of that particular genre. They probably reason that offering two competing versions on the app would just confuse the average listener. Having said that, the Rick Dees Hot AC countdown is available all week long,on demand, on his app.

I believe the AT40 record for most weeks at #1 since the show started is Photograph by Nickelback at 15 weeks in 2005. Ryan mentioned in the Hot AC songs of the 2000s (decade) show that Wherever You Will Go by The Calling spent at #1 for 20 weeks in 2002, and Bubbly by Colbie Caillat did so for 17 weeks in 2007-2008. I will look into the records of Unwell and Smooth.

I will look into the records of Unwritten and Smooth. The song by The Calling predates AT40 HAC by about 3 years though perhaps it had a chart run of such a duration on AT20 hosted by Casey Kasem which used the same R & R and later Mediabase chart as Ryan's countdown. IIRC, during the 4 1/2 year overlap between the two shows from December 2004-early July 2009, their last 20 chart positions were identical.

Not to belabor the point but Ryan will often co-opt records which had been achieved on previous countdowns to make a point as was the case last year during the Hot AC Top 40 of 2017. He mentioned that Taylor Swift had the highest debut in the regular countdown at #6 since 1971 when Issac Hayes debuted with the Theme from Shaft. That was from the original American Top 40 which used Billboard Hot 100 chart data. You can hear it for yourself here....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPQotH82jb0&index=30&list=PL6TzdsvHhp17ESwSDGzu4_LVBrrjly1Rh&t=2371s

So what Ryan mentioned on the show is accurate. That was the exact same timeline the Casey used when he was doing his Hot AC shows as well.

I recall hearing some years ago that the Hot AC version of the countdown is a poor cousin to the main attraction; the regular CHR countdown. In terms of the actual content on the show, I would say the Hot AC version is pretty solid. They have their own stats and sometimes different stories when needed, especially for the top two songs of the week. Some of the extras will not get an intro or an outro, but other than that, it’s very similar to the CHR version. I can’t say the same for AT40’s direct competitor, which will always have the same stats trying to work from both shows when in fact one of them (or both) is not true. And thank you upland for posting these playlists every week!

The Premiere AT40 production team appears to enjoy creating the Hot AC shows in a relaxed way, as, unlike the CHR shows, they do not have to care about requests from the affiliates and sponsors, and as they can play more variety of good songs from various periods. I would extend my appreciation to the AT40 staff for creating those excellent shows every week.

Then you are in a great position to weigh in on why Premiere wouldn't make the HAC version available on demand during the week as they do with the regular CHR countdown. I listed my thoughts above, why don't you think they want to make it available Upland?

FYI, I have added several new stations (described in maroon letters) to the Hot AC show affiliates list above in this thread.
