Wow, that's rather unexpected. That out-peaks most of his singles from the last 5 years just from its debut. I don't expect this to turn into a hit or anything, but its debut almost landing it in the Top 40 is shocking. I was definitely thinking country radio would just totally pass on it given how slow it is and that Toby Keith isn't a hit-maker anymore.

I’ve not listened to this yet but I honestly think Toby was at his best in the 90’s, although he achieved more success in the 2000’s. I’m a bigger fan of his 90’s music after that he was hit or miss with me.

I'm with you. I just looked at Toby Keith's 1990s hits. Practically the only one I did not care for was I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying with Sting (really?). That was a #2 hit in early 1998.

I have to admit, I wasn't expecting this to chart, but it did. And it made a nice debut at #43, it did get up to #41 at one point and currently sits at #45. Plus it got a few more adds this week. I say all that to say I am just downright pleasantly surprised to see this song hang around for a bit even if it doesn't get any or much higher on the chart.

This is Toby's highest airplay charting song since 2014's "Drunk Americans" (peak of 27) off of his 35 MPH Town album (which I really enjoyed).

Curious that BMLG is going to promote this. I wonder if Show Dog still exist at all at this point, as I thought its promotion department had been eliminated. I haven't heard anything about it ever since.

Yeah I think they are not really active as they were going to promote “You Look Good” by Clay Walker at one point but that never happened so I assume they are dormant right now.

I had forgotten several things here:
1. This thread has been here for almost five years.
2. I had made a post in the thread.
3. I had added this song to my phone via the greatest hits album. I listened to it this morning.

I hope this makes at least the top 20. If it does, Toby Keith will have major hits during the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s. Now, let us salute the duet Keith had with Sting between 1997-1998 (mentioned almost five years ago). Ready?:

Really good start for this considering his career lately. Hopefully the new label can get this to number one to bring an older artist back to the top but I’m not that optimistic yet.

I wonder if this gets a good bit of success now. It looks like it has been making good gains each day and not just the day after he passed away so maybe radio gives him one last hit.

Kinda sad that this pulled in a bunch of adds a few months back then basically still did nothing, and now it's only going to possibly make any waves now because the man passed away. 🙃

That said, it would be cool to see this at least scrape the top 30/40 though as one final tribute to TK.

Is this eligible to re-enter the Billboard? I recall something like this happened to Weight Of The Badge by George Strait a few years ago, and although it appeared on Mediabase (as a new entry) on 40s, it did not come back to Billboard due to some recurrent rules. I mean if this song is considered as a different song (Saltwater Gospel reimagine etc), then the story is different, but it still was added as the same song as the original song right.

I really hope so what would be a better way to pay tribute to Toby Keith then to give him one more number one hit and Let The Old Man In would be the perfect song for that.

I’m thinking now it may not be eligible as it should have had plenty of audience to enter on Friday but it didn’t debut so this may be a unique case like with George Strait.
