Entered both the Billboard Top 20 and Mediabase Top 20 this week, both at #19.
With "Raised on Country" only at 16 weeks on the chart I definitely do think this song is leaning more and more heavily towards being a #1.

I'm not usually a fan of songs that drop names...it kinda feels like lazy songwriting to me.
But this happily is an exception. I think the nostalgia factor for names like Merle (Haggard) and George Strait kicks in and makes it work.
It doesn't hurt that this sounds more like a traditional country tune, either.

I'm wondering if they'll announce the album release date soon or if we'll get a second single first. This one's climb is going nicely and I believe it'll hit the top by the end of the summer.

Debuted a new duet with Lauren Alaina at CMA Fest. This is definitely an earworm that I could see being the third single after "Drowning" inevitably comes next. Cool to see this upcoming project pick up some steam after the last era really left many people scratching their heads.

Due to fan demand, Drowning is coming on Friday.
Career-defining song for Chris.
If you are looking for emotion this morning, look up his Opry performance of the song.

I’m kind of wondering if it won’t be available as an instant grat track from an album preorder because I read somewhere the album title will be Raised On Country.

He’s releasing the single “Drowning” this weekend. It will be a part of his album which is called Raised on Country.

“Drowning” is a good song and I can appreciate the process in writing it and reading the stories behind it. But mannnnnnn some country instrumentation would have done wonders. Some crying steel guitar etc. I’m sorry but I detest the drum loops. But I do understand this was meant to be a soft ballad
Kind of surprised this wasn’t included on a pre order for the album.

Uhhh, agreed. The production killed this. WHYYYY does this song need snap tracks? Ughhh. The emotion is killed.

Yeah "Drowning" reaffirms that whoever is Chris Young's producer needs to be fired and if it is him himself, he needs to give up because while he is still getting hits, I feel like none of his music for the past 4-6 years sans "Lonely Eyes" and maybe "Think Of You" have made me react beyond just "eh it is not bad, but not good at all".

I think "Drowning" sounds perfectly fine as is and while some prominent steel guitar in the production would've likely elevated the song a lot, I feel like everything comes together pretty well on the track anyway, and I honestly really like this one. It is easily the best thing I've heard from Chris Young since the I'm Comin' Over era. It handily beats everything he gave us on the last record. I'd love for that to be the next single. I can see that being the biggest hit he's had since "Think of You" in terms of drawing up a real impact with consumers instead of just another soft #1 on radio.

Yeah production took this from career defining song to something I never want to hear again. In addition to the snaps and loops and lack of country instrumentation, it also feels about 15 bpm too fast.

I 100% thought the same thing within 10 seconds of listening. That could be a career song but instead it is produced like a Backstreet Boys cover. Honestly Chris needs to hire a big-time producer because he is holding himself back.

I haaaaaaaaate the beat on "Drowning" so much, ugh. The song itself is so good but then the beat/production take it to places of mainstream dreck. The song itself is definitely a step in the right direction, but I agree with those saying he needs to fire his producer and try again.

It’s getting a good response on iTunes so far. It’s #2 on the Country Chart and #4 All Genre. It’s a pretty emotional and powerful song about loss. We can all relate to that.

"Drowning" is great, but I would like it even more without the drum loops and with more country instrumentation. I love the line "I gotta say missin' you comes in waves, and tonight I'm drowning", it paints such a vivid picture!

I know the song is about someone who passed away......But if you listen to the lyrics it really could be about a girl who left him for another guy and wants nothing to do with him.
Great song....I expect to to be the next single and a huge hit for Chris.

"Drowning" is a beautiful song, but I definitely agree with everyone saying they wish the production had more country elements to it. Imagine if they had used similar production to "Tomorrow" on it instead...

I’m dying a little cuz that’s my fav Chris Young song and now I’m hearing “Drowning” in my head with similar instrumentation/production and am realizing what could have been lol.

Wow that is a very impressive debut for "Drowning"! All signs are pointing to that one being a big hit for him if it does come next.
