Even Tiger Woods couldn't swing it this good; I'm actin' up

This is alright. Not as good as his first single (which had to grow on me quite a bit), and definitely very generic, but it's decent enough. He hasn't really piqued my interest much so far, but I'm rooting for him because as others said, it's nice to see some diversity in the genre. Now I just wish Mickey Guyton could get herself a hit. She's over 30 and a female in country. Say nothing of her genetics. She's got virtually no shot at country radio now. None. Sigh. I'm not sure what happened with her, but I think she could've gotten a hit. It's probably a lost cause at this point now because it's been like what over 2 years (?) since anything's even been tried at country radio for her, but I feel like she was poised to break through when her debut single dropped with the reception she had out of the gate at radio. The single faltered because it didn't fit in well enough for modern country radio though and then for some reason the label responded by waiting forever and a day to release a follow-up single and it feels like they squandered her potential/hype. In other words, I don't think her being over 30 was that big of a factor. Maybe it is more of an issue now that her hype is gone, but radio was interested, albeit briefly. If she wasn't so terribly mis-managed, I think something could've happened with her. It definitely should've, anyway. It's too bad she couldn't have gotten an OTV boost the way Cam did (someone also over 30 who wouldn't have had her own big hit without it).

I do think, though, the over 30 and female thing had as much to do with her failure at radio as the type of song and the mismanagement.

Not feeling this. Really dull, just like his last song. It feels so generic and the melody isn't catchy. And we have enough songs about making someone want to. This could be a hit, though because it blends in so well on radio. My guess would be that this ends up being a song radio stations use to fill their playlists because it's generic, inoffensive radio fodder and they don't have anything else to play. However, I can't see such a sleepy tune really catching on with listeners.

Gimme “How to be Single” next please 'How to be Single' is the only song I even sorta like on that whole record. So I agree.

"Boy Gets a Truck" was the obvious choice. its hard to top a keith urban song but he did a pretty damn good job.

I’m actually really loving this one now, and I think it’s better (at least catchier) than “Best Shot”. I feel confident this will be another top 5 hit for him.

Christ. Another chorus on the radio of “what’s your name, what’s your drink”. I thought Chris Lane’s tune was enough.
Radio. Play songs that 5 year olds couldn’t write, please.

If anyone’s ever met Jimmie, you can tell immediately he’s an outgoing person, almost to a fault.
He came through two weeks ago and his label rep repeatedly had to tell him the interview he was about to do was live lol. He says the first think that pops in his head.
At one point he mentioned how he wants to be done with his debut album cause it’s too old — wanting you move to new music...his label rep’s eyes tripled in size haha. Even he knows that “Make Me Want To” has lasted way longer than it should have...

I'm not sure if this is the case or not, but it really feels like this is getting a final push into the top 10 this week. It's gains have exploded out of nowhere. I'm wondering if they are just maxing out to get it into the top 10 this week, and will give up afterwards. I could be completely wrong though.

Could someone tell me why Jimmie doesn't have a chart history on Billboard? It's not just him I couldn't find because I couldn't find one for Travis Denning either. Both have had a couple singles chart yet Billboard does have chart histories for Ingrid Andress, Gone West, Caylee Hammack and several other who are on their first charting single. I find this odd especially with Jimmie as he now has 2 top 10 singles and no chart history.

Yeah, when I first heard this song, I immediately thought of this as an upbeat version of "I Don't Know About You." Yet, I do like his energy on this song. There's also something about the way he rhymes car and dark. Nonetheless, this song is pretty generic. Then again, so are a lot of songs. It could be a lot worse. It's a harmless song that is catchy. Not much else to see here. I will admit I do want to see what Jimmie does for his second album.

At least it finally debuted, but man, what a low-impact single this has been. This has been out foooorrrreeeevvvveeeerrrr. At least to his credit it went top 10 in airplay though, so good for him. I wonder if they'll just move onto new music once this one peaks. A lot more newer artists are getting shorter album cycles due to how slow the singles climb the charts, so I think it's probably wise to start fresh.

"Best Shot" debut in Feb. 2018 and the album came out in Oct. 2018 so it's not really going to be a shorter cycle, unless you mean number of singles.

Mostly by number of singles, but I mean, like you said, the album is also barely a year old. I wasn't thinking from the perspective of when "Best Shot" was first released. With his album only just over a year old, it would make sense to stick with it a little longer in that sense, but since the third single could theoretically take the entire rest of 2020 to peak, I could see them moving on to new music with that in mind.

This is probably my least favorite song on the charts right now. So painfully generic. I hope whatever he releases next has a bit more substance.

Officially enters the Mediabase Top 5 at #5. Hopefully the fact that this is now officially a Top 5 single, 53 weeks old on the charts as of tomorrow and has a weak bullet of 67 means Stoney Creek is about to drop this song once and for all.

This one will beat the record broken by "Caught Up In The Country" last year, for the most weeks charting on Billboard Country Airplay (formerly HCS), which is currently at 57 weeks. "Make Me Want To" will hit 55 weeks on Billboard this upcoming Monday.
Jimmie's push week should be coming the week of February 23rd, after Maren Morris and Sam Hunt. Stoney Creek/BBR's staff will be going for #1 with "Make Me Want To" and if Jimmie does get to #1 on Mediabase by February 29th, the record-breaking 58th week will be the next day, March 1st when the Billboard chart finalizes. That also means that it will likely get at least one more week on the chart after that.
Jimmie's got a surprisingly low burn rate score on Mediabase's national callout. Just a vanilla, safe single pick and even though its sales have been mediocre at best, this will get to #1 on Mediabase and break the weeks charting record on Billboard.

I hope for his long term career that whatever the lead single is to album Number 2 has a bigger impact, he needs a career single now.

Stoney Creek confirmed in Country Aircheck tonight they will push for #1 starting February 23rd. Jimmie will break the record for longest chart run on Billboard Airplay by March 2nd at 58 weeks.
At the very least, I'm glad that a record like this will be held by a song that actually made the top 10, let alone #1 (*cough* "Caught Up In the Country" *cough*).

Just dropped a new track with Noah Cyrus (?!) called "This Is Us." Very cute. I wonder if it's going to be pushed after this or if it's just a throwaway.

As recordyear said, it's going to be Jimmie's next radio single, impacting March 23rd (this one should see a massive drop after its push week next week). It's a Noah Cyrus song too. Credits to RECORDS/Columbia. Stoney Creek will just promote it to country radio.

This is set to make Billboard chart history next week and it should have died a long time ago. Now, it's the biggest spin increase in the top 50:
