This is gonna smash. The Highway has been playing this a ton, but I’m okay with that because it is a total earworm.

Does it irritate anyone else that this guy has capitalized his name and all his song titles? Was this done purposefully?

Does it irritate anyone else that this guy has capitalized his name and all his song titles? Was this done purposefully? It’s on purpose. I don’t know why he does it but it’s definitely a branding. On our music logs here for our local station (and many stations), we use all caps for the artists and songs in the computer system when playing singles. So for example, Midland - Burn Out reads MIDLAND - BURN OUT. I guess it’s easier to read and is easily recognizable. How HARDY uses it for his name and songs on everything however, I think it’s just to brand him differently.

This is pretty generic, but decent enough. His voice is better than the song, though.

This is super catchy. The melody's pretty good and I think I like his voice as well, but...the lyrics are pure drivel. Absolutely nothing redeeming at all. If it was supposed to be tongue in cheek, neither the lyrics nor his delivery gave any indication.

Considering the song is called "rednecker" I think it's safe to say it's tongue-in-cheek lol. Despite the fact that a lot of what he says is likely true.
I like it.

I was in the midwest last month to visit a friend of mine. We were listening to The Highway. He thought this song was garbage and can't believe it was made.

I enjoy all of his songs enough, but I'd rank this one in the bottom half. "All She Left was Me" (from his latest EP) would've been my choice.

Apparently, this one got the best research, although I'm sure it was polarizing. I too would have gone with "All She Left Was Me" (which sounds like a huge Luke Combs type smash) or "Signed Sober Me". I like all of his releases and his songwriting is super clever in my opinion. I hope it does well even if its not my favorite of his.

This is complete garbage. The only reason this dude even has a single out there is because he’s friends with FGL, hence being on the Tree Vibez imprint. His lyrics and even vocally he sounds like the same recycled trash from the FGL/Morgan Wallen/etc cult.
With all that being said, I’m sure it’ll be a hit solely because of the reasons above.

I forgot to say this above, but again, here we are with yet another song stating how “country” or how much “countrier” the artist is. Christ, this is getting tiredsome. I said this a few weeks ago about Luke Bryan, FGL, and Chris Young, but I basically got s**t on by fanboys. But just for the record, I’m not the only one seeing this pathetic trend: www.savingcountrymusic.com/country-musics-next-bad-trend-songs-about-being-country/

I am not kidding.

Really? Even without the FGL Connections, this song would be considered "recycled trash" by the SCM website if for nothing else than his look "isn't country." It's all a tiresome line that's as bad as the cliche's you're proclaiming to dislike about the guy. Dislike him and the others all you want -- you're free to -- but to call their music our sound a "cult" is beyond the pale to me. It's nothing of the sort.

I had extremely low expectations for this based on the title of this alone and this is so much worse than I could have imagined. Assuming this turns into a hit, this will be my least favorite country radio hit in over a year, maybe two...

Just a bunch of generic one line stereotypes about two dudes, with HARDY trying to out idiot some random idiot. Great idea for a song. SMH. Oh and it will probably be #1 in 8 weeks while Eric Church, Chris Stapleton & George Strait stall out in the 20s. What are we doing here people?

This is absolutely terrible. Sounds like a 2014-era FGL song.

Hahahahaha, ok 10 weeks but Johnny Cash is rolling in his grave for sure. collinkottke, do you realize that Chris Stapleton has been at the top of country music since 2014 and has only 1 number 1 song to his credit. That is pretty dumb in my opinion.

This song doesn’t take itself seriously. It’s a cousin to “Pickup man.” It’s FGL-like but it’s fun. This will hit (though I wish the production had more sizzle to it. It feels very muted.

This is looking to be a hit for HARDY, 27 adds before this week and I know many more stations are committed to adding this during the month of March, starting tomorrow on impact day. It was already at #42 on Billboard Airplay last week.
I know a few people here have expressed dislike for "REDNECKER" but radio have opened their arms with this debut single. I'm not really sure what I think of with it. The melody is really strong and I like his vocals for it too. Some of the lyrics are really bad though (especially that "I p*ss where I want to line"...) and I'm expecting this to be a love it or hate it sort of single, which could prevent it from getting towards the top of the chart but we'll see I guess.

I'd agree and say this song is doing pretty well so far. I do think this will be polarizing on Pulse, but I think radio listeners will eat this up in the summertime.

HARDY said today that "Rednecker" was put on hold by Blake Shelton and would have been recorded for Blake's upcoming album. But then HARDY signed his deal with Big Loud Records and requested the song back from Blake. He knew it had a chance to be his debut single.
After hearing this a few more times, I don't hate the song, I find some enjoyment in it. Hard to look past some of the lyrics though but its melody is undeniable. "Signed, Sober You" is definitely a highlight though. He isn't an artist who will do a lot of slow ballads but that's a great outlier.

I really like HARDY. Honestly haven't found anything of his I don't like just based on his two ep's.
