Artist: Riley Green Single: "In Love By Now" Writers: Riley Green, Rhett Akins, Marv Green, Ben Hayslip Label: BMLG Records Release Date: February 8th, 2019 Impact Date: April 29th, 2019
Riley Green's second single for BMLG will be a song called "In Love By Now." There's a RadioTraks survey up with just this song asking for feedback but mentions it will be his follow-up to "There Was This Girl." Uptempo song with a bittersweet subject. Drops to iTunes and Spotify next Friday.

Why are they in such a hurry with this guy? Exact opposite of "striking while the iron is hot".

^^^^^I agree with this assertion----that release date is at least three months early IMHO. Unless BMLG is getting some serious blowback about his current single from radio MDs that they're not inclined to continue propelling 'There Was This Girl' any farther up the charts a la 'Burn Out', 'Hide The Wine' and lots of other singles of recent vintage, this release date makes zero sense to me inasmuch as it's a terrific debut single IMHO, and reaching #11 after 25 weeks on CT40 is nothing new at country radio.
What's the rush???

I don't know, I don't see anything that says they're ready to release his next single (to radio, that is) right now already. They've basically said what it is and they're letting radio know what's next, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're gonna be done pushing "There Was This Girl".
Now, it does seem pretty clear to me that the label isn't going to release his album until the 2nd single becomes a hit, because "There Was This Girl" hasn't sold or streamed very well, but that's not all that new these days. I think they'll push "There Was This Girl" to a top 5 or #1 peak before releasing this new song to radio.

The label plans on releasing a full LP with the second single ("In Love By Now"). It would be in their best interest I think in this case, because "There Was This Girl" has generated lackluster sales, despite its testing being above average. They chose it because it was safe and knew that radio would be on board.
Most of his songs I've heard are pretty safe, radio-fodder types. Bunch of upbeats. His best though I've heard is "Numbers on the Cars", which is outstanding. I'm not sure they'll ever try it at radio but it's a terrific song.

All of the songs he's released thus far have just been bland.

I like Riley! Sure, it's not like he's amazing, but after checking his music on Spotify, I am liking most of it. I think I prefer There Was This Girl over this one, but both are to my liking.

I like him too, its nice to see a new artist who isn't trying to be too poppy. He's no George Strait as far as "classic" country, but I appreciate him still trying to be authentic country. I just hope he doesn't become a sell-out- so many others started with promise then became a disappointment musically *cough* Dustin Lynch, Chris Young, Easton Corbin *cough*.

This song is at #13 and Billboard STILL doesn't have his name programmed into their chart database. If you click on his name on the chart, you get a 404 error. Dafuq?

This is pleasant enough. I do appreciate the more 'traditional' style he's going for. It's a catchy little song that I'd listen to if I had the album on, and wouldn't turn it off the radio.

Reminds me a lot of Luke Combs. I think he’s here to stay. He seems to have that relatable personality and traditional sounding vibe.
I wish “Same Old Song” had been the single though

I like this a lot better than his debut. I think this should have an easy time on radio but I'm not getting vibes that he's going to stick around, I don't hear it yet.

Second most added song with 34 adds.
This song imo is so much better than "There Was This Girl". The production feels great, well sung and this song is very catchy. I also love that the song is anchored in country instrumentation. Very good song and I hope this becomes his first Billboard #1 as well.

Heard the song acoustic on his radio tour and thought it was well written, but the production just screams 90’s while still current. Hope it does well

Hope it does well Yes it's such a nice 90's sound to it while not sounding dated. As I said I don't feel like he's destined to be big quite yet but this is growing on me as I listen to it more and more, so hopefully this is a sound that'll be on the whole album.

Love this! He’s kinda like the country version of Sam Hunt (although IMO Riley is more attractive). I want him to make it big but at the same time not lose sight of who he is.

This is exactly what today’s mainstream country should be sounding like. I hope this can become a sizable hit for him, because I’m loving his output so far.
