Artist: Clay Walker Title: "Change" Album: Long Live the Cowboy Writers: Clay Walker, Kyle Christopher Jacobs, Shane Allen Minor, William Joseph Jr Leathers Label: Maven Records According to Clay's official Facebook page, "Change" is the next single off of "Long Live the Cowboy" and it's impacting country radio. Very excited to see how this one performs. The lyrics are simply beutiful and the vocals are so powerful! Really hope to see this getting Clay back to the top of the charts! Here's the lyric video:

I didn't even realize his Long Live the Cowboy album had finally come out. I need to check it out soon.

Clay’s such a great singer. Glad he’s keeping on keeping on.

Clay dropped a lyric video for the song "Napkin" this morning, which is another track off of Long Live the Cowboy. Not sure if there is any indication that this might be his next single. It probably will, as "Change" did nothing on country radio and they are likely done with that. This one sounds way more radio friendly but I doubt it will make any impact.

This is a great song, I can see it connecting with his fanbase and to younger audiences as well. Not sure if it makes sense to release another song off of the album though, radio didn't even touch the previous ones.
I think Clay is done having hits at radio. But I had thought he was done in 2001, then he managed to bounce back with at least one top 10 single on all his following albums. Who knows.

He was still on Curb in the 2000s, but he's no longer with a record label backing that will get him anything more than some limited/curiosity spins on maybe secondary radio. He's definitely not in a position currently to ever get another mainstream hit on radio.

I'm a Clay Walker fan, but the wait between albums has been ridiculous. It's been nine years since his last one, and over four years since he started playing this new material in concert. Really, it's no surprise that he can't get a hit now. I know I should blame Curb, for the most part, as they hold their artists as prisoners. If I was a musician and they offered me a deal, I'd definitely turn them down.

The wait has indeed been long, but I take it you must've missed that his latest album was released in January of this year? He's also no longer associated with Curb and hasn't been in about 5 years, which accounts for about half of the wait time between She Won't Be Lonely Long and Long Live the Cowboy.
