Damn, the music video just as deliciously dark as the song itself. I'm impressed. Blake Shelton has reeled me in on this one. Like tim, I'm also happy to see Devin Dawson landing a big hit with this co-write. He's a new artist who deserves better. I hope he gets another chance for success as an artist.

This sold another 31k last week, which is stellar in this age of streaming. Blake's team has done a great job launching "God's Country".

Fairly random observation from the music video incoming: I was surprised how grey they let Blake's hair be in the music video. It is like they are trying to embrace Blake being one of the elders on the radio. I'm here for it, just caught my attention.

Makes the list for top 10 song sales for the year: Incredible. This song is huge; though I always want to sing the chorus to “Brand New Man” when the one in this song starts 😅

His biggest hit on the Hot 100 since 2013's "Mine Would Be You." Very impressive how huge this one has been for him. This is exactly what he needed after the slump of his last era.

I’m glad to see Blake being rewarded for taking a risk. Hopefully other artists (Luke Bryan, Chris Young, etc) will follow suit.

This has grown on me. I'm not a big Blake fan, or a big mainstream country fan. Normally the only mainstream hits I like skew very traditional (Stapleton, Pardi, some of Luke Combs). But this one has become my obsession.

This will put him in the top 10 all time most #1’s on the country chart if it makes it. Well he’ll be tied with Alan Jackson at #10.

This one has really grown on me, and I love it now. This is definitely one I consider a good "workout song", which isn't quite as common with country music. The dark atmospheric feel makes the song seem like a giant event. Bet this will sound great live at his shows.

Calling it now. This will be the hit of the summer. Luke Combs' "Beer Never Broke My Heart" is off to a faster start than this was because he has more momentum coming off of a very successful debut album where as Blake Shelton's in sort of the opposite position, being an A-lister whose momentum has waned a bit with his most recent album. However, when the numbers come back, I'm confident radio will realize that this is the bigger hit of the two and it'll get more recognition as the top jam of summer 2019.

They both are definitely #1 bound and destined to be massive hits. Radio will play both and bring them to #1 but where the "biggest hit of the summer" comes in isn't what radio decides it what audiences buys, streams, jams too. A better guide would probably be the Hot Country chart on billboard it tracks all the streams sales and radio play and calculates who's on top. Here's to Gods Country hopeful #1 song of the summer.

A better guide would probably be the Hot Country chart on billboard it tracks all the streams sales and radio play and calculates who's on top. Here's to Gods Country hopeful #1 song of the summer. We've had this debate before so I don't want to go into it too deeply, but research (phone surveys of radio listeners) gives us a better idea of what the general public is thinking because it's random sampling of a much larger audience. Sales and streaming are just a tiny fraction of the population that is not necessarily representative of what most people are listening to. For example, "Whiskey Glasses" is #1 on HCS right now. It's sold about 120-130 thousand units digitally and has been streamed about 58 million times on Spotify alone since its release some one year ago. That's all well and good, but to be the number one song on the country radio chart, a song must be heard by tens of millions of people in a single week. So radio still ends up giving us a better idea of what the public at-large is listening to.

Not sure whether the original typo is funnier or you implying that's even close to the actual world population. I know what you were going for with your comment, but still, lol.

I think "biggest hit" can be defined a few different ways. This song is more unique, both for Blake and country radio. Luke's song is more in-line with a) what Luke has put out in the past and b) what country radio typically plays. Luke's song is much safer for radio, and radio tends to be risk averse. But radio isn't the only way to judge a hit. A guess, a few years down the road, this song will be a much more talked about song during Blake's career, than Beer will be for Luke. An extreme example "My church" peaked at #9 on country airplay, I think most of us would say it was a bigger hit than many of the other songs that in fact went to #1 that year.

Hot 100: #24 (+9) Country Airplay: #10 (+1) Country Songs: #1 (+2) This is having a super impressive chart run all around. This reaching the top 20 on the Hot 100 would be really cool and I hope it is able to do it. Even better is seeing “Whiskey Glasses” and “Beer Never Broke My Heart” in the Hot 100 top 30 as well.

the latest Billboard says this sold 26k last week & 10.8M streams.... and also says Luke Combs's Beer song sold 26k & 11M streams. That's really incredible given how hot Luke is now.

Wow, this is still #2 on iTunes. The sales for this are quite impressive. I see this definitely going Top 20 on the Hot 100.

I see this matching the peak of Heaven by Kane Brown on the Hot 100 tbh.
