This has a chance, but country only songs breaking the top 20 hot 100 is fairly rare in streaming age. Luke C has never done it, Sam Hunt and Kane have each done it once (Sam also has a #20, and actually cracked the top 10 with BLABR). Blake and Luke B have both done it a few times, but nothing since 2014. FGL has done it twice - HOLY in 2016 and Meant to Be, but that song of course was with Bebe Rexha.

This will definitely break the top 20, it is streaming very well and has not peaked in airplay. Barring any surprise pop released in the next couple weeks, this could peak at 17-19 or so I think.

This one should very easily get into the top 20 of the Hot 100 in the next few weeks given that it's already at #24 there when it only just broke into the top 10 of the Country Airplay chart (meaning it has a ton more audience growth still to come while it has steady high sales/streams). I doubt it'll reach the peaks of "Boys 'Round Here" or "Honey Bee" (#12 and #13, respectively), but it should at least land around where "Austin" peaked (#18). "God's Country" is looking to go down as one of the biggest hits of his career.

Yeah, this is easily his best in years and I'm glad it's being recognized as such a big hit. Definitely the song of the summer.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but I don't like this one.
Not sure how to explain why, though.

He really needed something like this. I couldn’t be happier for him. Top 20 is so cool.

I know it's a long shot, but could this actually go Top 10 by the time it hits #1 on radio?

I know it's a long shot, but could this actually go Top 10 by the time it hits #1 on radio? That seems almost impossible without some type of pop crossover.

It still has great sales, still has a bit of room for radio gains, and it's got decent streaming and actually very good YouTube, with it being Top 20 in the US. I'd say it has a chance, especially if streaming picks up a little more by the time it goes #1.

Anyone know who did the background vocals on this song (and specifically, the high notes near the end of the song)?

Anyone know who did the background vocals on this song (and specifically, the high notes near the end of the song)? Kara Britz, Blake's BGV. You can also see (blond female)/hear her in the live performance at ACM's (Devin Dawson also sings backing vocals on the recorded song)

I'm calling it now. July will be the month of God's Country. This'll get four weeks at #1 on both charts and keep Eric Church and Maren Morris from hitting the top. The top ten is basically going to be frozen for the next month. This is definitely the song of the summer, and will likely be among the top five biggest hits of the year. This is another "Honey Bee" or "Austin" for Blake. It'll be a career-defining song.

Moves up to 18th on this weeks hot 100. Ties Austin for 3rd best performance on that chart. Top 2 BRH (12) and Honey Bee (13). Doubt it catches either of those two (at least without some TV appearances). Oddly enough, while BRH is Blake's highest charting hot 100 ever, it didn't make it to #1 on the HCS chart, it was blocked by Cruise, featuring Nelly.

In the meantime, Blake Shelton will pass Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire to land at #11 on the list of those artists with the most #1 hits. He'll have 26 while the ladies have 25 each.

Something interesting to note is that at some point, this was at #1 on the new Rolling Stone 100 chart (the equivalent to the Billboard Hot 100) which does NOT use radio as a factor. But sales and streams are irrelevant, right? :kii:

I don't understand how their charts work at all. Peak position is from daily updates (Fri, Fri - Sat, Fri - Sun...) It probably was #1 some day during release week.

I thought the chart just launched recently, did they create retroactive charts for it?

I thought the chart just launched recently, did they create retroactive charts for it? They must have, because "Tequila" is listed as peaking at #3 and it definitely didn't do that this week or last.

What's the chances other big artists that have been playing it safe and boring see the success of "God's Country" and decide to take a risk?

Can you say chart topper #26 for Blake Shelton?:

While this was recently certified Gold, it already has over 800,000 units and is on its way to 900,000, so I can imagine it going Platinum soon.
