I'm curious what this chart run will look like, but I'm sort of confused at some of the comments. This song got an hourly iheart debut, hence the great start. Vice was also a lead single, and also had an hourly debut. None of her more recent singles were lead singles, ergo they didn't have the promo debut. This start doesn't really signify anything for the future (at radio) of the song. This feels like you're alluding to my comment that this is already a bigger hit than her last three singles, but I don't see anything confusing about my comment because with its #19 debut, it has already out-peaked all of her recent releases (at least with country radio). I realize it was because of the iHeart debut, but those fluctuate as well so it was possible she could've debuted in the 20s or 30s instead. All I was doing was making an observation that in its debut week the song had already out-performed her last three singles on the airplay chart, regardless of what circumstances surround it. A #19 start is also a little higher than I expected for her to get here. I don't see it as a guaranteed smash hit and I could see it struggling the way "Vice" did if research comes back polarizing, but it's definitely a promising start and I think radio is still interested in Miranda Lambert (with the right material), so we shall see how it does. Not only you (and really not only this thread). Lately it seems as if anyone who anyways has ever heard of gets an iheart promo & whatever (another issue for another day), but then people on here get all look how good it’s doing!. And it’s all promo, & isn’t really indicative of what the chart run will look like or radios “real” interest. Do I suspect this will do at least more along the lines of Vice? Yes. But I wouldn’t say it’s more of a radio hit than say Tin Man, merely bc it had a higher peak based on a one day promotional deal.

Why the need for the line about getting frisky with the boss, especially in 2019? Seems like a pretty standard example of 'dirty laundry' to me and thus a reasonable inclusion for the song. It scans as a harmless line unless you read something into it that isn't there.

Because in the year of our lord 2019, #metoo and power dynamics and the like are a thing. I think playing into a woman flirting with her boss at work is a little tacky in current times. You are of course free to disagree.

I just think there's a big difference between a work relationship (or affair, but I wanted to avoid that word because it's not necessarily the case here) and a male in power sexually harassing/abusing a female employee under him. I think the latter is so obviously a big issue that to act like the former is the same thing would be working against the goal of getting rid of disgusting behavior like that.

Which of his points exactly are you arguing against? Lol

Really encouraged at this one staying in the Top 30 at Billboard after the airplay deal. I think it's going to be a nice little comeback single for her.

New song called Mess With My Head will be released tomorrow. And here it is: Probably the poppiest song I think I've ever heard from her. This is a banger though and she totally made it work for her. I could even see this being a possible big hit at country radio cause stylistically it reminds me a bit of the type of stuff Kelsea and Maren are hitting with lately. Also she's serving a whole look on that single artwork.

She’s 3 for 3 with me. I can’t wait to hear what this full album sounds like; all these shades and textures are promising!

I don’t dislike the song, but it’s not country. Miranda was always one of the artists who stayed a little bit more in touch, but this record feels like it’s moving away from that. Platinum was probably sonically my least favorite Miranda album. So yeah don’t know what to do with this song, it’s not bad....it’s just not what I want from Miranda (or any country artist, ahem ZBB)

I LOVE this one. 2/3 for me with the only miss being 'Locomotive'. This album has a lot of promise - very intrigued.

But I'm still enjoying more what we have from this era by now.

Not much of it. Her two new songs r awesome so far. her “Mess” song is not her best but it’s ok. I can’t wait to hear the album.

Also it was previously announced somewhere that "Way Too Pretty for Prison" would be a duet with Maren Morris.

So excited for this!! Love the cover!! She’s kinda releasing a lot of tracks, I assume we won’t get many more before release? Still 2 and a half months to go....

I was literally just thinking about this. It's either we don't get anymore tracks before the album (which highly I doubt) or we get a scenario like Reba's from early this year where half of the songs are released before the album.
