Artist: LoCash Single: “One Big Country Song” Writers: Ashley Gorley, Jesse Frasure, HARDY Album: Brothers Label: Wheelhouse Records/BBRMG Impact Date: May 13th, 2019
This will be LoCash’s next single. A few stations are already committed to adding it this week.
This was the obvious choice; definitely the standout track for me.

I feel highly resistant to LOCASH in general, but I agree that this is obvious. Really likable pop-country song.

This is probably their best single since they hit the mainstream country scene. I liked "I Love This Life", "I Know Somebody" and "Ring On Every Finger", but they were just kind of there. I could see this being a pretty huge song for them and it is miles better than "Don't Get Better Than That" and "Feels Like A Party". I haven't heard many great things about their album other than for this song, so hopefully this does well for them.
Also, look at my boy HARDY getting another song he co-wrote out as a single. That would mean his name is on this one from LoCash, "Talk You Out of It", "God's Country" and "Rednecker" currently. Following the smashes of "Up Down" and "Simple". (I use the term "my boy" very loosely but kinda not since I love "Simple", "God's Country" and "Rednecker" and guilty pleasure like "Up Down").

The second verse definitely ruins this song for me.

Saw LoCash last night and man do they put on a show. This one has already had quite a bit of airplay on the iHeart station here leading up to the show.

No posts since June. Lol. Anyways "One Big Country Song" moves up into the Mediabase Top 30 at #29 with a healthy bullet of 118. I imagine this song has enough left in the tank for the Top 20 beyond that I am unsure.
This song is a complete earworm, so I do like it but for the most part I tend to have a soft spot for a lot of LoCash's recent work ("Don't Get Better Than That" being the exception).

After going recurrent on Billboard in late January, "One Big Country Song" looks to have re-entered the Billboard Airplay chart at #25 setting a new peak (link: www.billboard.com/music/locash/chart-history/country-airplay/song/1129995) I like this song well enough and it is pretty catchy, but it is beyond time for the label to drop this song. There is just no buzz around this song and this song has essentially been spinning it's wheels since the new year.

Part of me is okay with it re-entering so that it could out-peak their last single, as this one is far superior to "Feels Like a Party." But yeah, now this one can go away again. It's beyond time to stop propping it up imo.

LoCash scores their first Top 20 since "Ring On Every Finger" tonight as on Mediabase LoCash moves up 2 spots to #20 gaining just under 300 spins. The past 4 weeks for this song has actually been pretty solid as "One Big Country Song" has gained 583 spins and around 3.6 million in audience on Mediabase.
I don't think this song is hitting the Top 10, but with this song being at 46 weeks on the Billboard chart as of tomorrow, I imagine Wheelhouse will hold on for another month at least, especially since it has been picking up some momentum.

Assuming Luke Bryan does not pass them, LoCash should set their first top 10 since 2016 when “I Know Somebody” did tomorrow night on Mediabase as they should be at #10.
However I find it infuriating how much country radio has let this song succeed even if the chart climb has been slow because this song has pretty much no buzz to it whatsoever and the callout scores while not bad are not outstanding, I mainly say this as the music video for this song that was released back in September has not amounted a million views which is very sad for a song about to hit the Top 10. I do think this has enough left in the tank for a Top 5 finish but I will say it misses #1.

One of my local stations has been playing this since they played a show here in October 2018. So that's over a year and a half. now there were times when it was maybe played once a week. But it always would come back and get more play after a few weeks. And it did happen again a few weeks back where it was barely played, but since it started to climb recently it's in heavy rotation. I'm still not tired of it.

So, that said, #1 is likely not off the table.

It is shocking for me because they generate pretty much no buzz or interest, and I feel like radio should at least promote and build up songs/artists that do generate buzz and have people talking and buying. I like the duo but they are probably the biggest definition of a radio filler act with no longevity, it is telling after over 8 months on YouTube the music video has less than 750,000 views. That is just sad. But since you are smarter, more of an expert on this stuff I will take your word and assume this stands a good chance to hit #1. But I find it a crock of crap that this total non event nothing of a song can hit #1 where as songs with much more sales, interest, etc. have to settle for much lesser radio peaks especially among female artists. This song succeeding and a song like "Homecoming Queen" stalling out barely inside the Top 20 is another example in a long line of how flawed country radio is, and how flawed and blatantly sexist radio callout tends to be.

Honestly they were way more relevant with their old indie label, before leaving them high and dry.

They covered TLC's "No Scrubs" and yes, it is truly as awful as that sentence sounds:

I forgot LOCASH existed for awhile before this hit the Hot 100, to be honest.

I forgot LOCASH existed for awhile before this hit the Hot 100, to be honest. Well it looks like almost no one actually knows they exist. This song is such a fake manufactured hit, there's no fan interest at all behind it. It's been out for a year already and the music video doesn't even have 1 million views on YouTube. One of the most irrelevant top ten "hits" ever.

Yeah it is kind of pathetic that this song could hit #1 when it has not connected at all. I get radio likes songs that test well, but they should show some passion or interest. It speaks to how irrelevant they are when Jameson Rodgers who is still a relatively unkown artist has 5 times the amount of views for his debut single has over 5 times the amount of views on YouTube. Country radio really needs to grow a backbone

Country radio really needs to grow a backbone Even a lot of songs that are purely radio hits get some sales and streams out of it. Going to pop radio as an example, "Lights Down Low" by MAX was eventually certified 2x Platinum despite it almost entirely relying on radio until really late in this run. But even on country, "In Between" by Scotty McCreery as an example of a "non-event hit" has 31 million streams on Spotify as opposed to "One Big Country Song"'s not even 9 million, and yeah, the not even 900k views versus "In Between"'s almost 3 million. This is the kind of song I could see not getting even a Gold certification for several years.

Look for this song to hit #1 on both charts after Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, and Miranda Lambert clear out a few weeks from now
I get that this song is radio friendly and testing well, but holy crap this song has never sold well during it's chart run and the music video has been out for 40 weeks now and is still not at a million views on YouTube. This song will hit #1, but I don't see it giving LoCash any real momentum heading into whatever their next single is and I doubt this is remembered beyond this year if that.
I am someone who enjoys LoCash's music as a whole but they are the biggest definition of a pure radio act and it is annoying in a year where country music has had so many big hits that country radio still feels very "participation trophy" esque with everyone getting a #1 and a fair amount of non hits getting #1 (this, "After A Few", "In Between" and "Make Me Want To"). I will just always wish country radio grew a backbone or labels dropped songs when they realize it is a substantial financial loss.
