Based on the tour, I'd be surprised if they didn't go with either "Drinking Alone" or "End up with You" next. They seemed to be the two new songs that are getting the best treatment out on the road in terms of her pimping them out and also from fan response. I also see them being among the two strongest choices for radio left on the album. "Low" could be a dark horse option, but I think it might struggle in the way that the first two singles did.

I’ll never understand “slowing” songs down when they are rising on their own. What’s the possibility we’ll get a new single announcement before CMAs?

Plus, she’s airing a live performance from her tour on “CMT Artists of the Year” on October 16th. If I was a betting man, I’d bet that’s around when we find out the next single; which will God willingly be “Drinking Alone”.

I think “Drinking Alone” is the best choice, but she performed “Low” on Colbert the other night, which made me think that maybe it was an option. EUWY would be a good spring single to close out the era.

Just notice that Matt Stell is an Arista Nashville artist, so she is blocked by her former label and is poorly managed by current label. Pitiful.

#64 on the Hot 100 this week, behind 10 tracks from an album bomb. :( This will probably end up being its peak unless it manages to climb a spot or two next week.

Literally didn’t know who Matt Stell was until about a week ago when I saw that it was becoming an interference in her getting a BB #1. In any case, let’s all just *kanye shrug* and pray for “Drinking Alone” to usher us into the fall and act as one of the greatest single releases to country music in 2019. Just notice that Matt Stell is an Arista Nashville artist, so she is blocked by her former label and is poorly managed by current label. Pitiful. I don’t really get this take. Why do so many view her partnership with UMG/Capitol as a poorly-managed one? From the beginning, it was announced that their major focus was on expanding her as both a touring artist + an international star. From all aspects, they’ve very much done that with this era thus far. Of course, radio comes with every partnership, but I don’t think it should be the definitive measure of the deal’s success altogether. (As a matter of fact, and I’ve said this before, I think radio/#1s are increasingly less and less significant or honorable as the years go by.)

Yeah, I agree she probably “doesn’t need it” at this point in her career, but neither do Luke or Dierks and they seem to have little trouble getting there. 🤷♀️

It would be awesome if Carrie can score the billboard #1 also but considering how many times she's been hosed there, i'm not expecting it. It will be a pleasant surprise if she does and hopefully UMG can get her there! Very pleased she at least has her mediabase #1 She will get the Billboard #1 too! It’s her push week and she should easily get it. Carrie never came close to hitting #1. She finished a full 2.5 million behind Matt Stell on last night's chart, and he actually out-gained her last week. Carrie's push was clearly for the #1 spot on the Mediabase chart only, and I was surprised that there was so much optimism for the Billboard #1 in this thread. She was too far behind Matt Stell at the start of the week, and he posted strong gains all week as well. There's just no way to catch a song when it has a big lead and is still going strong. "Southbound" finished a full 1.2 million behind Dierks, too, so Carrie has to settle for a #3 peak on Billboard. A while back I felt that this song had a chance to be #1 but a few slower weeks seemed to derail its chances, and it was hurt by the fact that Matt Stell, Dierks Bentley, and Chris Janson all have songs that are testing better at radio, with lower burn-out rates. I also think "Southbound" would have maybe fared a bit better if it had peaked closer to Labor Day rather than in October, but that's the situation the label found itself in when the song slowed down a bit. Radio liked this song quite a bit, but just not quite as much as some of the other songs that recently hit #1 or are currently in the top 5. A #3 peak is still a pretty good showing, but I wish she could have gotten to #1 on Billboard. It's definitely disappointing to see her come up short yet again.

The Highway this morning said "Backsliding" is her new single. Knowing that they play album tracks regularly I'm not 100% sure but they specifically said it was her new single.

I love Backsliding, but that’s probably one of the least country songs on her album. I see it maybe doing well on Hot AC or AC, but not country.

I am not someone into these #1s and all because they don't feel earned anyway, but it's clear labels will go to bat for male artists more than female artists (as we all know). Carrie has been continually coming up short in these races for awhile now, even when against artists who have been out as long as she has and don't need the success. It's bothersome because of what it represents within the genre.

I'm so confused right now with this next single talk, it almost feels like someone on her team is intentionally trying to throw us off.
We now have 3 rumors of her next single out there.... several weeks back with the bullet, yesterday with that utah station tweeting about end up with you, and now xm with backsliding....is she toying with us here?!? I don't know what to believe.
I'm still of the belief we find out a week from tonight.

Ummm, why is Drinking Alone not one of the songs being mentioned?!
The Bullet is an easily big NO for me, it’ll be a flop. End Up With You and Backsliding feel like Country but also Pop/HAC-leaning though I enjoy both of them. If I had to choose between the either, I probably would go with End Up With You because it’s a fan favorite (as evident in the tour) and I do see it working as a single to some extent.
BUT...Drinking Alone is made out to be a showstopping single. It’s just magnificent and would easily connect with the audience & smash. Fingers crossed they see the light and choose that. They really need to close out the era strong if they want to have momentum for the next era.

Time for this to head "southbound" on the charts...Carrie is capable of so much better than this.

Low & Drinking Alone are the best and right now only choices for single #4. Something tells me we'll find out what the next single is when Carrie performs live on tour tomorrow night during the Artists of the Year special, and we might get the official release the following Friday, and have an impact date of next Monday (10-21).

Officially #1 on Mediabase! 27th career #1 single, I believe. Billboard doesn’t seem likely unless tomorrow we see SB still getting a push; while I’d like to think the label would go for both, it kind of seems more realistic that they’ll move on now. But who knows? Carrie’s team has been rather aggressive since the CMA nominations came out, so they may want that BB #1 too! Full list please.

I'm pretty sure that's the list. (BB) = Billboard Country Airplay #1 before & after they split it.

^Didn't DFTRM peak at Number 1 on Mediabase? I did do a Google search, but Wikipedia didn't say anything about Mediabase...just a No. 2 peak on BB.

What's most impressive is on Mediabase she still has a top 10 streak; every single release from Carrie since the beginning has at least made it to #10 - that's amazing! If it weren't for LW's #11 peak on BB, she'd have the same streak on BB, too. Top 11 streak ain't bad, though. Legendarrie.

Couldn't be prouder to stan such an incredible and incredibly gifted artist. I did the math and I believe that on Mediabase, Southbound's chart-topping finish brings her total to 29 consecutive Top 10 hits. I counted the singles from every album, as well as her duets (TC excluded of course) and her CUX1 singles and came to that total. That's a difference of just one song from the 28 non-consecutive Top 10 BB list. Lord, what a powerhouse!
