This is doing really well for being in the 40s, where most quicker-movers like Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean, and Dan + Shay had slowed down quite a bit. It only gained 18 spins today but itâs bullet is still a great 327 and sales are more than adequate (#207 on iTunes). âSouthboundâ will be a big summer hit.

So many redneck margaritas will be consumed this summer while jamming to this! I agree its nothing ground breaking but its much more fun than the last few singles from her, and I think radio needs a singalong from a female for the summer, with the slower 'GIRL' likely taking another 10-12 weeks to peak for Maren and 'Miss Me More' will have peaked when summer is really heating up. Couldn't to a lesser extent "Buy My Own Drinks" by Runaway June fill that role as well as a female summer singalong as it is also uptempo and kind of summer esque single? (sorry for this reply now I just noticed this post now lol).

This one should have way more chance at being the summer jam.

Letâs make an assumption this goes top 5 - when could we see this peaking? As this is Carrieâs first true âsummer singleâ, Iâm assuming theyâd want it to peak by, say, Labor Day? Any chart-gurus want to throw out an intellectual guess?

The chart is too slow nowadays. I bet this will peak in mid-October.

Judging by the fact that they sat on LW for like eight months, who knows!? Iâm guessing the idea would be to have this peak by the end of the summer, but itâs anyoneâs guess at this point.

It'll probably peak late August/Early September. Whether that's because it speeds up, or because it hits a brick wall when it goes Top 20 due to bad callouts is up in the air. How long they continue to push it after it stalls is also a big question mark.

Itâs moving up faster than LW did, and Iâm sure theyâll try to have this peak by Labor Day weekend. It seems like the perfect time imo.

But at least it is moving much faster than LW and i think it has a great chance to hit the top by around labor day. Beer Never Broke My Heart should be falling by then lol

But at least it is moving much faster than LW and i think it has a great chance to hit the top by around labor day. Beer Never Broke My Heart should be falling by then lol The issue with that is lack of major promo opportunities. With this timing they have the ACMs and CMTs to work with while this song is still fresh, and Idol of course. If it came out two months ago, there wasnât much in terms of TV opportunities... Also, Carrie was home with an infant and very much still recovering then; which is solely why I think they held onto LW so long, to buy time... Nevertheless, I think the timing here is pretty good. With the weather finally warming up in the northern states, people are actually going to be in the mood for this kind of song, and I hope that works to its advantage! I think a killer performance at the CMTs could really set things off with this one! One thing Iâll say, though, I really think this song would have worked well as a group collaboration. I think if she had some high profile features on this, this song would be a surefire smash. I know I said it previously, but even her tour mates would be great for some vocals on this. Back to the point of this post, I think the timing is good here and its momentum so far is pretty promising. Would love to see Carrie back to #1!

Welp, having this mediocre song kick off the entire Cry Pretty tour setlist is basically the only blemish on an otherwise perfect show

To each his own tho. I'm glad you liked it! I just think that when put alongside songs like "Wasted", "Blown Away", "Low", etc. it is painfully clear which style feels more natural for Carrie... I will say that her tour absolutely slayed me the other night!!!! Those who haven't bought tickets yet, GO DO IT RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just about everything about this show is perfect!!!!

Itâs looking more like radio is trying to get rid of new Carrie music the way they got rid of Miranda. Itâs like every year the radio heads get together and decide whose turn is it to kill their radio career this year. And if itâs a woman whose had #1s for a decade they are in front of pack for the chopping block. Hell they didnât even wait for Carrie to hit the âsinfulâ female radio age of 40.

i'm not ready to panic at this point, this week has been frustrating but i've seen this happen to plenty of other songs that end up at the top, or at least top 5-10, so i'm still not going to let it get to me too much at this time. We have CMT's coming up this next week so i have a feeling it will pick back up :)

This is still so new so there really isn't anything to worry about yet. That being said, while many here were praising this release for being summer-made and radio-friendly, this song is still well toward the bottom of her career single list in terms of quality--right there with the last two singles. If there's any reason it may be struggling, that would be why.

I am basically going to copy and paste what ladyđfan said in the Luke Bryan thread a week or 2 ago. "This has literally only struggled this week, hasnât it? Many songs occasionally lose their bullet (âMiss Me Moreâ, âSome of Itâ, âGIRLâ) and theyâre fine." (credit again to ladyđfan) Also a couple of other points: This song hit the Top 30 in 4 weeks for Billboard, compared to "Love Wins" which spent 8-9 weeks to hit the Top 30. Speaking of "Love Wins", that song got over 30 weeks on the chart and Carrie Underwood hasn't even clocked in 1/6th of the time with this song. Even with these A-listers, you have got to be patient with these chart runs, I mean Florida Georgia Line is hitting 30 weeks for their song, Jason Aldean is already on Week 13. "Southbound" is at such a solid pace it can afford a week to just slow down and coast. With this song I kind of see it like Kelsea Ballerini "Miss Me More", and Jon Pardi "Night Shift" in terms of a song to remind radio listeners of the artist as it closes the era out even if it doesn't quite hit the Top (I think if the label spends 30+ weeks with this like I expect they will this will be the last single). Obviously "Love Wins" was more successful than "I Hate Love Songs" and "She Ain't In It" but my point still stands.

Obviously "Love Wins" was more successful than "I Hate Love Songs" and "She Ain't In It" but my point still stands. This is right on point. Carrie has now been a household name for 14 years. You canât expect every single of hers to zoom up the charts, regardless of A-List status. Plus, this is the 3rd single off the album, coming off a single that underperformed and tested poorly with listeners. Like raylatch98 said, this is the 4th week of its run. Most songs experience a little dip in their bullet every now and then. Itâs not indicative of its future. I fully expect this to start taking off once itâs in the top 20. All signs are looking good for this to be a strong summer single for her and can provide a much needed boost in the album era. Have faith!

While Iâm not the biggest fan of this song Iâm excited to see the video because it was filmed here in Austin a day or two before she had a show in San Antonio in early May...and Iâm pretty sure it was during Cinco de Mayo weekend lol.

It's clearly a dud and peaking around #15 or 16. Jason'll be about 24-26 weeks, which I think Carrie can also manage. It all depends on how the callout looks, which I think will be fine. This song fits in much better with what country radio listeners are used to hearing.

The Top 3 highest spin gainers on Country radio are women. When was the last time that happened?

Still love the song, and the video had a lot of cute moments, but I do wish she had just done a regular video. The concert parts had moments too, but is still blah. This is her first real fun single, so I wish she had just went for it but that just may not be her thing.
