Well his last era did not seem to hurt his relationship with radio.

Well his last era did not seem to hurt his relationship with radio. If anything, moving on to something like this probably made radio happy to have something great from Keith Urban to put back in rotation again, lol.

So this one is falling off the charts practically while Lady A is still going strong. I thought for sure this one would still be hanging in there as well. That’s how good this one was supposed o me.

That’s because this was released two days prior to Lady A’s song and the hourly airplay for WIINGOY (still a mouthful when abbreviated, lol) is still factored into the rolling chart while “We Were” lost it a few days ago. Lady A will lose its debut spins tomorrow, so it would be best to wait until tomorrow to compare them.

Both Keith and Lady A are doing well, though Keith is doing slightly better. I really like "We Were" - imo it's better than anything he put out from his last album.

Lady A is doing better on sales and streaming though. At least the music video for this song is not released yet. Maybe it will turn around by then.

And even then it isn't really doing better on radio than Lady A's single considering "We Were" came out a couple days before "What If I Never Get Over You" did. The spins/bullet/audience all indicate to me that they're essentially on equal footing right now and the only advantage "We Were" has at the moment is the extra few days to put Keith Urban ahead. I could see them both working their way up the charts together for most of their runs, but all signs are pointing to Lady Antebellum's single being the higher impact of the two. I can still see "We Were" getting him back to the top though and probably wind up his biggest hit since "The Fighter."

Gains 7 spots from #26 to #19 on Mediabase officially entering the Top 20 gaining over 400 spins as well.
Despite mediocre sales (selling about as well as "Good Vibes" by Chris Janson) this seems to really be connecting with radio. I don't think this will be as huge as "The Fighter" or "Blue Ain’t Your Color" but will probably be a bigger hit than anything off Grafiti U.

Not related to this single, but an official music video (using live concert footage) was just released for "Drop Top" off his last album:
Bit of a strange move, but I'm guessing that there might have been a chance this was slated to become a future single from Graffiti U and the video had already been commissioned before "Never Comin' Down" massively underperformed and caused them to move on early. At any rate, any additional exposure for Kassi Ashton is a win in my book. I'm desperately waiting for her radio launch.

I'm really digging the new song. I think "Parallel Line" should've been a bigger single off the last record...

Drop Top is the radio single in the UK. Ah okay, that's a weird flex, but that makes sense then. Thanks! I'm surprised about that, because he doesn't have much radio presence here in the UK. He's shown up on a couple of chat shows, but it will take more than that to make him known. I remember when Rascal Flatts came over, did one or two things then left the same day their single was released. If you want to make it in a particular country, you have to work on raising your profile there. Too many American acts go about doing it half-heartedly.

So I’m sitting in the dentist chair waiting for the novacaine to take a effect lol and this song is on the radio right now and I REALLY like this. The melody and instrumentation/production are all great, and this is definitely a step up from his recent EDM/pop style.

What’s with all these acoustic renditions? Probably artists hoping for a streaming boost. It may be strange for country artists to do a remix or a last minute collaboration so they go with an acoustic version. I’m not sure why it’s coming out this week but maybe they just felt it was a good time.

Been stuck at #18 for 5 weeks straight, which is worrying but also unsurprising given the overall pace of the country radio. No one (except Luke Combs) is guaranteed a smooth ride up the charts anymore, it seems...

No one (except Luke Combs) is guaranteed a smooth ride up the charts anymore, it seems... I feel like it has been forever since anything from the top 10 went recurrent. I know Thomas Rhett dropped quick and Lee Brice has a couple weeks before going recurrent but Morgan Wallen just refuses to go recurrent! I love the song but still! Blake and Eric Church are also dropping fairly slow. Florida Georgia Line have been on the chart forever now with "Talk You Out Of It", especially for them and the Brantley/Lindsay song has been on a long time too and even dropped 2 spots this week. Maren is dropping fast and will go recurrent next week. Keith could legitimately be near the top 10 by now if songs would just either give up or former #1s would drop quicker.

Currently obsessed with the “I am who I am, I just miss who I was..." line in this gorgeous song.

This has been really slow going in the 20-15 range. When I first heard this it seemed like a surefire #1. Now I think 6-10 will be its peak. I believe we are seeing the end of Keith as an A list radio star.
His radio trek would have been an amazing 20 year run at radio for anyone, let alone an Australian born man, who never fit the look and sound of the country music mainstream.
Keith will remain a giant concert draw and enduring staple of the Nashville talent / power elite and award circuit.
