Just when I thought AT40 can't expand further on their Breakouts...
For the first time in AT40 history we have SIX ... COUNT 'EM, SIX BREAKOUTS (one is still "On The Verge"). And to think I once complained that four Breakouts is too many. How soon before the inevitable chart expansion happens and the show winds up changing its' name to "AMERICAN TOP 50"?

This week "You Say" by Lauren Daigle has fallen off the chart. It was her first AT40 hit, debuting back in February and spending eleven weeks on the chart, peaking at #20 last month.
And Bazzi's 34-week run with "Beautiful" featuring Camila Cabello has also come to an end.
Bryce Vine debuts with "La La Land" featuring YG. Bryce has a habit of not mentioning the complete song title together in the lyrics. The same was true of his last AT40 hit, "Drew Barrymore."
And BTS hit the chart with their latest "Boy With Luv" featuring Halsey. Meanwhile, BTS also score their third #1 album in less than a year. BTS are also the biggest boy band with the most members – 7 of them.
At #3 this week is Ariana Grande with "break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored," the third single off her thank u, next album.
Sam Smith and Normani's R&B-inspired collab "Dancing With a Stranger" moves up two spots to #2.
And the Jonas Brothers hang on to the top spot this week! Last week they hit #1 in just their seventh week with "Sucker." And that made it the fastest rise to the top since "Girls Like You" by Maroon 5 featuring Cardi B last year, which also took seven weeks. How long will "Sucker" stay at the top? Find out in the weeks to come!

AT40 no longer airs on Oman's Number One Hit Music Station, HiFM and it appears Egypts NileFM dropped it too. Plus, the 16 extras this week could be the most ever.

if they make a top 50, the recurrents will stay around for another 7-10 weeks than allowing more newer music in

Six Breakouts is, definitely, overkill. You ask me, one per hour should be it, at most.
I wonder how high Taylor will debut, next week? Inside the top 20 is, certainly, a safe bet.

Update: The new show is on Nile FM at 9 a.m. EDT Friday.

Even that wouldn't be Taylor's highest ever debut, as "Look What You Made Me Do" entered within the top 10. This will also give Brendon Urie three top 40 hits at once, impressive for someone who IIRC prior to 2018 only had two credited AT40 hits, in 2006 and 2016 (he's had plenty more at some other formats, notably Alternative.)

This is supposed to be a countdown of the top 40 songs of the week, not an oldie show. If I ran the show, all the breakouts would be played before they start the countdown (that is, before number 40 is played). Once the countdown begins there would be no interruption with any extras. There would be no music from the past, and there would be a recurrent rule: all songs on countdown past 26 weeks would be removed, allowing more new music to enter the countdown. If the record is still in the top 10, it could reach 30 weeks. Only the top 3 would not have a recurrent rule.

From how many extras are included, nowadays under your policy you'd have to possibly play 10 or more "Breakouts" or similar up-and-coming hits before you get to the actual top 40 if you're not going to put any more extras in. Either that or cut the show down to three hours.

Anybody here listen to Bobby Bones' Countdown (iHeart's Country equivalent to Seacrest)? It's four hours but they play a Top 30. Do they have "Breakouts" and if so, how many do they play (I know they do "Tell Me Something Good" which I'm glad AT40 got rid of but I don't know how many time-fillers they have).

Ryan explained why the show features many extras now since many songs are running about the same length as the early 70s giving them more time to play more music.

Only the songs that actually chart within the top 40 should be played. This is rediculous the breakouts repeatedly. You might as well add those weeks to Their total weeks

Where exactly was this mentioned? At the 10:40 mark in my video. FYI, on the Hot AC version, Ryan mentioed this immediately before and after #27, All The Ways by Meghan Trainor.

Ryan explained why the show features many extras now since many songs are running about the same length as the early 70s giving them more time to play more music. Where exactly was this mentioned? I think it was before Bebe Rexha. He also said that because of streaming, artists get paid regardless of the song length, so there’s little incentive to make a long song. Personally, the Breakouts and extras don’t bother me at all. Years ago, songs had to be edited in order to fit the whole show into four hours. People would be complaining about that if it were still the case today, just like they do with the 70s and 80s reruns. Everyone should be grateful that AT40 isn’t playing a full recap of last week’s Top 3, like they did after the show expanded to four hours.
