Just saw in the Country Aircheck Year-End special that this is "projected to top the charts in early January." Sounds like they're definitely maxing this the week after Lady A, 1/13-1/19. Should be a #2 finish on Billboard and a #1 on Mediabase.

Looks like this song is gonna have to settle for a Billboard and Mediabase #2. Sad this could not hit #1 as I personally like the song a lot more than "10,000 Hours" but once Dan + Shay passed Jon Pardi I knew it would be an uphill climb for this song to secure #1.
Curious to see what the next single is. As much as I like "Don't Blame It On The Whiskey" because it has Lauren Alaina, I don't think it is the best idea to send it out when Lauren Alaina has her own single ("Getting Good") and a feature coming up ("One Beer") to radio. Even if it would be kind of funny to have three Lauren Alaina songs at once on country radio. I would love for "Me and Jack" to get released, but I am very unsure if that would do well on country radio

Next single seems like a no-brainer. “Nobody Leaves A Girl Like That” was the most popular song when the album dropped, streaming quite well. It’s also a very safe radio song, so it checks off both boxes. Enough said in my opinion.

It seems this song is only in a power up phase this week, so it still can hit #1 next week if 10,000 Hours falls quickly.

Nobody Leaves a Girl Like That - Ain’t Always the Cowboy - Tequila Little Time need to be the next 3 singles. One of the slower traditional songs to close the album out if they go 5.

If he already went for max spins, he wouldn't still be gaining and would've entered a freefall. Instead he put up almost a 100 spin gain today and half a million in audience. He could possibly put up large numbers and steal one of D+S's weeks at the top, but "10,000 Hours" probably isn't going anywhere for at least another couple weeks.

Pardi was not maxed last week. I'm guessing people believe that based off the CCUSA co-hosting schedule but this is an instance where the co-hosting schedule doesn't line up with the push weeks. They ran 'Power Up' ads last week, which is routine to do just before a max to #1. UMG knows Warner has a bigger hit with "10,000 Hours" and allowed them to get to #1 this past week. UMG will try and get "Heartache Medication" there but might have to settle for just a Mediabase #1.

I don’t know how close this is behind Dan + Shay audience wise yet but I can tell you he will be the #2 song on Billboard tonight. I’m gonna predict that he will be blocked by Dan + Shay again next week on Billboard. Then Maren will unseat them the following week but never fear because Jon will have a #1 I think in his duet with Thomas Rhett. I think Maren could pull a couple weeks off at # 1 herself because the only threats to her not are Sam Hunt & Kane Brown but not seeing the audience yet I’d think they’re both too far behind her to keep her from 2 weeks. Sam I’m iffy on about him even going # 1.

Looks like this may be getting a much deserved #1 for both Billboard Country Airplay for this coming Monday's chart and Mediabase for Sunday!!!! Ahead now in audience of Dan + Shay & Bieber and now outgaining them in spins and should catch them for Sunday's Mediabase update from this Saturday.

They must have removed that link because according to AllAccess, 10,000 Hours is still #1.

Yes, Dan + Shay got two weeks atop both Mediabase and Billboard Airplay. UMG Nashville is pushing Jon this week and "Heartache Medication" should easily get both charts next week.

What was the last #1 Country Airplay song to feature a fiddle so prominently?

What was the last #1 Country Airplay song to feature a fiddle so prominently? Off the top of my head, a few songs with decently prominent fiddle hit #1, such as “For the First Time”, “Beautiful Crazy”, “I’ll Name the Dogs”. But the most similar example would probably be “Wagon Wheel” in 2013.

While I think some of us felt this was a “low-impact” single, it nearly broke the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, which outpeaks every one of his prior singles except “Dirt on My Boots.” Not bad for a traditional song with a throwback George Strait feel.

I wish this would've felt like a bit bigger of a hit than it was, but it returning him to #1 on BB is nice to see. There's some great options for the next single, so I'm excited for them to move onto something new.
