Not that this is doing badly by any means, but I thought that it would be moving more quickly than it is. Week 4 on Billboard, and it's #27, still not matching its initial inflated #26 debut.
I can imagine this one being pretty polarizing, honestly. It sounds a little similar to "Boys Round Here," which was obviously a big hit during the height of the bro-country craze, but I think this one might have trouble being a big hit on country radio. I could see it flaming out early due to poor testing, like what happened with "She's Got a Way with Words," i.e. So, I'm not too surprised that it isn't flying up the charts super quickly. Radio will likely be a bit slow to move on from a hit as big as "God's Country," too.
It’s really just climbing about as slowly as everything these days. “Knockin’ Boots” took 24 weeks to hit the top and still got two weeks at #1. And that was a lead single; this isn’t. I agree this may be a tougher sell for radio, but I still expect it to manage at least a top 10 peak.
