Artist: Luke Combs Single: "Even Though I'm Leaving" Writers: Luke Combs, Ray Fulcher, Wyatt Durrette Album: Prequel EP Label: Riser House/Columbia Nashville Impact Date: September 9th, 2019 Just sent to radio. The absolute correct choice for Luke's next single.

This had to be the single, even dating back to the few weeks after the EP was released. The sales and streams for this one were too great to ignore, even if they were originally leaning in a different direction initially. Currently top 40 on the country sales chart, which is still impressive even with satellite play. Early spinners at terrestrial, as far back as a few weeks ago as well. Going into the fall and towards the holidays, this kind of song will fit right in. It's definitely my favorite song on Luke's EP and probably right there with "When It Rains It Pours" as my favorite release so far.
One of my co-workers lost his dad early in his career and he said he can't even get through this song without getting overly emotional. My dad was the most important person in my life growing up and this song definitely stirs up the emotions for me as well. It's got a classic three-part country story song structure, which can be executed poorly and come off cheesy but this certainly doesn't. The melody and music fit the lyrics and reminds me of late 90's/early 2000's style country music.

Agreed that this is the right choice for the next single. Offers something different from him and has all the indicators of being a huge single. This one reminds me of “Highway 20 Ride” a bit, and that’s a great thing in my book.

This is going to be massive. 100% the correct decision because this song is fantastic.

Yep. They made the right choice. The fans clearly wanted it, and radio did, too. His unbelievable hot streak continues.

Sorry for double post, but the song went back to top 30 all genre on iTunes after the tweet. And this entered Mediabase today at #48 with 3.212M audience and 361 bullet. Safe to say this will be the song that benefits from Christmas freeze.

#31 on Country Airplay...yeah this will be another really quick mover! I could see it spending multiple weeks at the top in December. It may even have the right timing at the end of the year when songs usually get multiple weeks.

I really like the production and instrumental on this but the way Luke sings the chorus sounds really monotonous and grating, tbh. Is it just me?

Had a feeling they'd push this next. It was definitely between this and "Lovin' on You," and this one just feels like the bigger hit already. Been hearing it on our local country station since the EP released.

This one is already in the Mediabase top 30 (rolling chart) and hada massive bullet of nearly 900...with “Beer Never Broke My Heart” still getting top 5-level airplay.
That’s just ridiculous lol. “Beer Never Broke My Heart” should start dropping harder now but “Even Though I’m Leaving” is mowing through the chart right now.

This is off to a huge start, and will certainly turn into another huge hit for Luke. He just can't do any wrong right now.

And with this being said I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't drop a really traditional sounding single (With heavier Steel) in the future. I really think he could do it and it'd be a hit and maybe even bring more attraction to the neotraditional phase we're trending back to.

I don't think I've seen a non-lead single climb this fast since Luke Bryan's "Most People Are Good" last year. Radio loves guys named Luke, haha!

Maybe some of country music’s women can change their first name to Luke in hopes to get more Airplay. Luke Alainia, Luke Pearce, Luke McBryde, Luke & Luke (this one is Maddie & Tae btw), Luke Townes...

Finally heard this one... it's actually good. Consider me surprised after the re-release of the first album was lame (liked the album initially but all the new songs were pointless) and Beer Never Broke My Heart being one of the worst songs on radio

I'm glad you like this one.

It's an absolutely fantastic song, but come on Luke, you couldn't have started pushing this a month or two earlier so it doesn't get caught between years?

I'll never enjoy his voice but this is at least a dull, inoffensive melody. On a scale of -2 to 2, I'd give it a 0. This is probably the best he'll ever deliver.
