Would have liked if it was "Town Ain't Big Enough", but this song is fine enough, even if Chris Young's production remains to be asinine imo.

Well, a single push probably means in a few months that they'll release an acoustic version... We can only hope.

The logical choice. When this was released, it debuted clear up in the top 20 of the HCS chart, which is incredible. If that's any gauge in the interest level for this one from fans, this will likely be his biggest hit since at least "Think of You."

Was “Think of You” a bigger hit than “Losing Sleep”? I’m guessing that you meant it’s his biggest hit in your eyes since “Think of You”. I’m pretty certain “Voices” is his biggest hit on the Airplay chart but in my opinion you can’t go wrong with just about any of his songs. The only ones I’ve never really cared for by him were “Aw Naw” and his more recent one “Raised On Country”. His first single “Drinkin’ Me Lonely” should’ve been a smash I thought.

God, if this was a country song it’d be great.

"Think Of You" peaked at #40 on the Billboard Hot 100 while "Losing Sleep" peaked at #60. So "Think of You" is the bigger hit. Also overall I think either "Tomorrow" or "I'm Comin Over" are his biggest hits overall as both also still have frequently recurrent airplay.

I would think of “Tomorrow” as his biggest hit

This is pretty solid. Nothing groundbreaking, but its better than "Raised On Country" which got stale real quickly. I can see this one being a big hit for him.

Yep, I'm pretty sure "Think of You" was also his fastest climb to #1. It did something most of hits don't do: it flew up the chart. "Losing Sleep" pales in comparison, CoJoFan. He's had several much bigger hits on the charts than "Voices," too. "The Man I Want to Be," for instance, spent 3 weeks at #1. I'd place a good 3 or 4 of his other hits above it as well (namely "Tomorrow" which is probably his biggest hit overall).

I'm still not sold on this one but ouch as to how fast Raised on Country is falling. I could have sworn that his album was reportedly named after that song.

This conversation about Chris Young’s catalog of hits makes it apparent how his current musical output and overall success just can’t compare to his previous efforts, lol. Bring back songs like “Tomorrow” and “Gettin’ You Home”, please and thank you!

Great song this time but poorly produced. The live versions when this was revealed several months ago were awesome and were what precipitated the huge early buzz. When they released this version digitally, it fell off pretty quickly. They needed to get this in the hands of a capable producer. Too bad. He finally has some well written material and it comes out far different than the more organic live performances that worked very well. It is ironic because the voice track is "drowned" out here. So unnecessary when less with that great voice is better.

But yeah, I'll put him in the "over-reacting group on social media" together with Kane Brown and Dustin Lynch

So I'm flat out going to ignore my issues with the production and instrumentation because otherwise, the song is absolutely fantastic and I want Chris Young back in my musical life. I really hope we get more gems like this going forward, and I also hope that he goes back to more country influenced instrumentation and production.

"Drowning" moves 3 spots up on this week's Country Airplay chart to enter the top 40 (42-39). I really enjoy this one although I do agree with the sentiment here that the production could've been done better. When he performed the song live it was a moment though.

Wow, just wow. This song never quite hit me until this performance. When Gavin first came in, the floodgates broke. I've never cried to this song before, but this is an incredibly moving rendition. Beautiful.

Beautiful. Oh wow. See, this is the production that I think this song deserved for the studio cut. This was incredible. I love this song even if the studio instrumental leaves a little bit to be desired. I hope this charts well on Country Airplay, and based off of its incredible debut on HCS I think it will. I do also agree with the earlier sentiments in this thread that Chris should go back to a bit of a more country influenced sound and give us more gems like "Tomorrow" and "Lonely Eyes."

I'm glad Chris seems to be making a move back to being more conscious of the songs he releases. I agree with everyone the production isn't the best here. But his heart is certainly in the right place. Looking forward to where this brings him next!

Officially Top 40 on Mediabase as Chris Young moves up 3 places from last week (#43) to #40 and "Drowning" gained 68 spins this week.
I am kind of shocked this song has taken this long just to get into the Top 40 especially given how well it is connecting and how it sounds like a song made for winter playlists.

I am kind of shocked this song is struggling as much as it is in the 30s since entering it last month as "Drowning" fell back 4 spots this week to Mediabase to #38 getting passed by Luke Combs, (not shocking), Miranda Lambert (not too surprising), Kip Moore, and Jon Langston (these 2 passing Chris Young is shocking) gaining only 32 spins.
I just feel like between solid sales, it being winter (this song sounds like it would be great during this time of year), and Chris Young being a pretty decently recognizable name, this song shouldn't after 20 weeks be just barely in the Top 40 without a pulse.

Yeah, I'm kinda stunned myself. Like you said, being passed by Luke is one thing, and Miranda isn't much of a surprise either, but the other two are stunning. Can't believe it's taken this long to begin even trying to take off.

Chris just isn’t that big of a star these days. He’s certainly still a recognizable name, but with the current climate for country charts, he just won’t be zipping up the charts in under 20 weeks anymore, especially a heavy hitting song like “Drowning”. This isn’t exactly the most digestible song at radio right now.

The production is dull, but not offensively bad by any means. The song itself is pretty fantastic though, so I have absolutely no issue with this in my playlist.
