This is still doing well on iTunes and streaming. Let's see what radio does with this.
It's still one of my least favorite songs from them, but I'm rooting for it to go at least top 5 on pop and top 10 on the Hot 100.

If people are buying and streaming the song, do callouts even matter?
Out of all the metrics, they seem like the least meaningful.
People clearly like the song enough to stream it and PAY MONEY...as opposed to people clicking "don't like"/"burnt out" on a free survey that you willingly sign up for JUST to influence radio.

Not this back to #1 on iTunes while Lover is #14! Lol no shade but isn't Lover pretty much a dud? Like Taylor isn't exactly the hit machine with singles anymore (as is the same with many popstars that were big in the early '10s)

People clearly like the song enough to stream it and PAY MONEY...as opposed to people clicking "don't like"/"burnt out" on a free survey that you willingly sign up for JUST to influence radio. Depends on what you mean by meaningful. They are often inaccurate/biased, but I would say to radio callouts matter more than sales, just looking at trends over the last year or two. Terrible callouts seem to kill a song, but great sales don't really seem to help since the bottom fell out on digital sales. Like, we have had a LOT of songs sell well, but do poorly in streaming and callouts and they never seem to do well. I'm not saying it is the same for every song or that there are no exceptions, but if I had a song on the rise I would pick streaming+callout success over sales by far. I mean, I feel like the #1 song on Itunes sells like, 5K a week and Apple is considering killing Itunes altogether soon lol. For me personally, Itunes/Sales are much more fun to watch, but with the market so dead it feels kind of worthless to watch them now :'(

Yeah following the iTunes chart was really fun. It's peak also matched with a huge resurgence for dance and pop which are genres I love so... it was fun.
Nowadays though, I automatically roll my eyes when people try to claim an iTunes position as some sort of win. Sure some tracks like "Shallow" and "Girls Like You" eventually leg their way into respectable totals but the other day someone tried to claim that Selena's dominance on iTunes over the #2 song was a record over Adele's "Hello" percentage wise, and it's just ridiculous, especially when nothing is selling overall what Adele sold that week.
Of course records of "pop bars" and "dominance" are gonna be "broken", but does it really mean anything when the #1 song is selling 3k and the #2 song is selling 1k?

Surprisingly this is up to #7 on Spotify. Looks like it could climb into the top 5 there. I can see this going top 5 on the Hot 100 quite easily in the near-future.

Do callouts matter? Yes. It is a direct way for listeners of radio stations to give feedback to the stations they listen to. Please remember that people that download and stream are MUCH less likely to listen to the radio simply because why would they when they can play the music they purchased/saved any time they want? Sales and streams, especially now, just aren't a good indicator of what radio listeners want to hear. Yes, there is going to be correlation because naturally there is going to be some amount of overlap in the demographics of the three top ways music is consumed, but the overlap isn't always big and changes song to song. Callouts are certainly not the least meaningful metric of measuring listener taste. It's actually quite the opposite as, again, it's the most direct way for listeners to give feedback. Actual people listening to the radio giving feedback to the actual radio stations they listen to absolutely trumps a position on iTunes or Spotify that uses country wide data based off of people who don't even listen to the radio. As per your last point: again, the demographics are different. Sure, it's awesome people are willing to purchase or stream this song, but are those same people willing to stop doing those things to listen to it on the radio? Probably not. This is why callouts are important. Also, you're confused as to what callouts actually are. The Mediabase callout data posted here is not for everyone to do. It's a survey where the participants are selected at random. Rate the Music is the one where anyone can sign up and abuse the system, but RTM's scores are largely taken with a grain of salt and are proven to have much less of a pull on stations than Mediabase. Not to mention, Mediabase isn't the only one that does callout surveys. In fact, many stations hire either other 3rd party services or perform the surveys themselves and we never get to actually see the results of those surveys. Mediabase is the only company that posts intricate data of their callout research and has randomized testing rather than fan voting, so that's why it's discussed so heavily here, but it's important to acknowledge that it also isn't the end all be all for callout research, but it does give us a look into how the song could be performing in callout surveys across the country. An aggregate, if you will. And by no means are any of these surveys done by people signing up to take them outside of RTM. Callout research is performed largely similar to how Nielsen collects television ratings: randomized surveys directed at people who actually consume entertainment through said format. Program directors look at everything when they go to set up their playlists, and callouts may only just be a slice of that pie, but it absolutely is the largest of the slices.

Callouts have also killed songs that were otherwise doing well on other components like "No" and "Never Really Over".
Rihanna's "Work" was massive and yet callouts slowed it down so much on CHR that it only peaked at #9 there.
It's an important way for radio to measure what radio listeners wanna hear. Whether the sample size is too small or if the method is outdated is another discussion.

Based on this week's callouts this looks like it may be one of those that get better reception as the chart run progresses. That'll be enough to get it Top 3 on Pop at the very least, unfortunately.

My country really likes this song at the moment and everywhere I go, I hear this. And as Leo ✔ said and I perfectly agree: This is a hit and y'all can stay mad and salty, nothing will change :kii: Although, this is the Maroon 5 song that doesn't need a guest rapper (although likely it will). But if it does, let's say with the help of DaBaby or Lil Baby, it will just skyrocket "Memories" on the top of the charts.
