If we could have a non-disappointing winner unlike the previous rankdown that'd be sweet

Both the #2 and #1 song have sixteen top 10 rankings (out of 29 participants).

I didn’t expect “Like a Stone” to make it this far. I expected tankers. I’m sure that it’ll still get tanked from winning because it’s ‘too poppy’, or something, but I can still hope.

Pleasant surprise! I do enjoy “Float On”, but it was just never one of my favorites. Great winner, and thanks for hosting! nickd

Really glad to see 'Like A Stone' win this; I don't remember off the top of my head whether it won any of its rock RD appearance, so if not I'm glad it pulled off a win somewhere.

Really glad to see 'Like A Stone' win this; I don't remember off the top of my head whether it won any of its rock RD appearance, so if not I'm glad it pulled off a win somewhere. It won Active Rock 2003 and came second to No One Knows for Alt 2003.

#10 - MGMT - Time To PretendThis is cool. Truth be told I didn't love this band until 'Little Dark Age'. That title track is my all time favorite song from them ,and that will probably never change? #9 - Keane - Everybody's ChangingI never really fully dove into this band's sound. I charted "Is It Any Wonder" and "Crystal Ball" but nothing else. This sounded like a first time listen. I know I didn't chart it, but it sounded pretty cool for first time. I knew I would be one of the lowest rankers, but still in a high slot. #8 - Coldplay - Fix YouOne of my favorite Coldplay songs is this piano ballad, but it just sounds so epic. Go figure. #7 - Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The DancefloorJust like MGMT, I really didn't get into this band until 'AM'. I was way too much into "Cock Rock' back then, but I did give it some chart action. #6 - Muse - Supermassive Black Hole...and yet another band I got into late in their game. 'Absolution' was when I first heard of them. but I discovered a bunch of earlier jams in one other Rd. I think it was Red 's Rd? Anyway "Supermassive Black Hole" has pretty much what I crave in Alternative rock. #5 - Maroon 5 - This LoveBack when Maroon 5 was a great and listenable band. I don't know WTF happened to their music, but this a timeless Pop song. #4 - Phoenix - 1901I got into these bands really late. THis is a cool song, but my favorite is and will probably always be "Ti Amo". That's how late I got into this band. #3 - The Killers - Somebody Told MeHere is a band I got into from this very first single. That intro rocked my pants right off. I took this monster jam straight up the top of my charts and decided to give The Killers a V.I.P. status on my charts from that moment on. #2 - Modest Mouse - Float OnFirst song I ever heard form this band, and it wasn't on Alt radio. It was on Pop radio. For some reason i thought this was the coolest and quirkiest song around at the time, and I kinda wish This song would have won the Rd. #1 - Audioslave - Like A StoneGreat winner. Just misses out of my top 10, but still a timeless ALternative Rock song. The album had a few other hits, but The last time this band went top 10 on my personal charts was "Be Yourself". nickdGreat job with the Rd. I took a scroll at the other list of songs, and truthfully I know next to none, but That means all new songs to preview. Should be fun.

Took me long enough to respond to this. #5: Well, there goes the song that I thought would win. I thought it might get a bit tanked, but I assumed there would be even more support. #4: Without knowing the results of the top 3, I will say that I would have wanted this to win over one of the songs still in. I can't decide if me nearly ranking this top half reflects on the little bit that it has grown on me in the last year or so...or if it reflects on how rough it gets near the bottom of this list. #3: WHOA. There's a tiny, tiny part of me that wishes that I switched this and "1901". I had said for years that "All These Things That I've Done" was my least favorite single off of Hot Fuss, but, truth be told, it has grown on me a little bit over the years. This song, meanwhile, continues to grow off of me with each subsequent listen. It's not a bad song (I'd argue that there are no bad songs on Hot Fuss), but this song has problems that I can't really ignore anymore. Well, I was not expecting this top two going in. I kind of expected it to be "This Love" and "1901". At best, I thought it would be "This Love" and "Float On". #2: I think that this song is proving to be more and more timeless as the years progress. They could have released "Float On" today, and it would still work. It's not my absolute favorite Modest Mouse song, though the back-to-back combo of "The World at Large" and this on Good News For People Who Love Bad News is, undeniably, what made me a fan of the band. For me, the battle for #1 was a four-way race. This just happened to be at the back end of said race. #1: I've always loved this song, and if we had completed this rankdown a few months ago, it would absolutely be in my top five...probably at #2 or #3. In the last couple of months, though, I've been finding myself revisiting this song more and more, and it has really hit me just how powerful of a song this is, especially now that Chris Cornell is no longer with us. In death, "Like a Stone" has become an even more engrossing song than it already was. It was razor-thin between this and "Everybody's Changing" for my #1, but, ultimately, I think that I went with the right song for my #1...and not just because it won here. Great job, nickd, as always. Now let us get ready for the hell on earth that will be trying to rank the songs in the next rankdown in this series. I'm genuinely not sure how I'm going to do it. (The only rankdown I've hosted that SBH has been in is the Muse RD, Doc Indie Party Rock. You did send in a ranking for that one.)
