It's only a matter of time now that official publications and critics will be putting together lists marking the best of the 2010s. As they get published, we can share them here to see how wrong they actually are. :kii: Not a music chart but SPIN's best movies of the decade: www.spin.com/featured/30-best-movies-2010s/(many of my favourites are on here!) I'll be checking periodically for new lists.

Pitchfork's more indie picks are fine but the mainstream picks are very funny. Beez in the trap, my type, bitch better have my money, lifestyle, 2 on, bodak yellow, work etc. Imagine including these on a year end best hits list, let alone a decade end best songs list, you'd be laughed off YouTube.

I stopped reading the lists when I saw Formation at 4, XO at 10, and Work at 15. It's not based on facts. Just peoples random opinions.

Everything not based on figures will always be opinion-based. Art is subjective and music is art, thus, music is subjective. I already know I won't agree with most of the decade-end lists that get published, but it's good to have a thread where we can discuss that, for those who care to.

Sure it's entirely opinion based but Pitchfork seems to contradict their own opinions more and more. They seem to have forgotten MBDTF is their only 10 this decade (Runaway at #18) and that they had Ultralight Beam as the best song of 2016 but put it at #77 on the list here. And that's not even to mention that there's some obvious glaring omissions.
I don't really understand their angle. Cool #2 & #1 though. Most of the rest is just another chapter in the Pitchfork turns into a joke saga.

Pitchfork is mehh, this list has 3 Beyonce tracks and no Sufjan Stevens, really? I don't understand what are they trying to accomplish with that list, but yeah it kinda gives you overview what has been released, but at the same time, they miss so many great artists, so this is definitely a mess. For me one of the great tracks of 2010s is Toad The Wet Sprocket song "The Moment", I wish Pitchfork would find this kind of great tracks, not give me once more Drake and Hotline Bling.

Well we can just make our own lists too and not use random peoples onlines. I’ll be putting my own lists together pretty soon. Not sure where the idea of facts come up though. I think any list depends on what the person/people value in music. A list emphasizing songs that offered something new or innovative will look very different than a list pulling together the songs that best represented the decade as a whole in terms of culture and trends. And both of those will look vastly different from lists that highlight the biggest hits in terms of streaming and/or sales. It simply comes down to what you value. None of these lists will change my opinion on the songs but it’s still neat to see music I like get recognition from reputable (or not lol) publications.

Okay but besides "Beez in the Trap" (which I haven't heard) and "No Type", all of those songs are pretty great. Wouldn't necessarily put some of those songs in my Top 200, but still.

If you want to participate in this kind of poll, I'm creating a series of 10 Best of the Decade surveys on Sporcle, one new year each week. I just posted the survey for 2011 today, and will try to do the others over the next 8 weekends.
In the survey, I list about 60-70 songs from each year, including the top 50 Hot 100 songs based on complete chart performance, and assorted alternative, rock and better-remembered lesser hits. For each song you can choose Love It, Like It, Hate It or No opinion (for the many you probably don't remember of never heard). The songs will then be ranked by a weighted percentage, 3x Love It % + Like It % - Hate It %.
I'll be updating my signature with a new survey each week.
So far I have:
So I'd love to get everyone's opinion.

I’m just happy with how much love The 1975 are getting, they have at least one album on each list I’ve looked at and on Pitchfork they’ve got 2 songs including one at 16. Also so glad Melodrama isn’t being underrated.
