It's hilarious how one note this guy is, both vocally and musically. This is just so basic, and sounds exactly like everything else he always puts out.

He's always chasing after a hit by any generic, trend-chasing means necessary. This is more generic, hit chasing drivel from him. He could do so much better.

I will say to say something positive about Granger Smith, he seems like a really likable guy so it is easy to root for him, like I have absolutely zero qualms with him as a person.
That being said this song is so basic and if the pattern holds this song will spend 30 to 35 weeks on the charts and fail to make the Top 40 and continue the trend of each single have less impact than the last one.

I like how they have his son's face, River; shown on where the mountain is in the audio video and even on the single cover for the song. Also if you are look closely while listening, you will see that the horse is moving as well!!! This has had to be a difficult year as losing his son River to an accident from drowning. Hope this song does well for him.

I think this is alright. Don't know his chart history, but I hope it does okay.

Granger has one of the more sincere sounding voices in country music imo. I love the references to his son in this song and on the artwork. Hope it does well for him.

Seeing his son on the mountain broke and warmed my heart at the same time.
That said, this song is just as basic and trend-chasing as everything else he's ever put out imo. I'm gonna have to pass on it.

Such a pretty, picturesque music video. It's a shame that the song is just so blah, but I admittedly like it a little more while watching the video just because of how beautifully it was shot.

Went recurrent tonight on Billboard after 20 weeks, don't know if this song is officially done, but since this song has only gotten up to #52 on Bilboard I doubt even if it returns this does much more beyond maybe Top 50 to Top 40 run.
I do love how since "Backroad Song" each of Granger Smith's songs have progressively peaked worse and worse. Just kind of funny how it is a constant downhill trajectory.

I think he's done having hits. The interest just isn't there for him with the GP, and country radio would clearly rather just continue to slot "Backroad Song" into their playlists than bother with the fifth version of it since all of his singles are almost identical in sound and equally vanilla. The variety in his radio singles, in visual form:

A very likeable artist who just doesn't have anything to add to the scene and won't be remembered much when he's gone.

True, one of the colors was 'diverse beige' so we could rule that one out for sure. 'Everyday White,' 'Reliable White,' and 'Utterly Beige' would all work was viable album titles though, if Wheelhouse lets him release another one.

Didn't even know he had a song out right now. Apparently I'm forgetting about him when he isn't even gone yet

28 weeks on the Billboard chart and it still hasn't gotten any higher than #51. I'm not sure, but that has to be some kind of a record.

New album just came, but no announcement about the next single on mainstream radio? Country Things and Hate You Like I Love you are amazing songs. Hope Country Things will be released to mainstream and do well on Airplay Chart.

Granger discovered Lathan Warlick, and they did a remix of this song with Lathan rapping on his song. Lathan had a similar lost in his family. Lathan was not on any manjor labels at the time.

Hope Country Things is the next single. Would give Granger a great chance at more radio success. Terrific song!
