My initial thoughts: This isn't bad, but it's not spectacular like some of her past singles. I was expecting something that really showed off her vocals, but the song never really got to that point (which, I think we can all agree, is a huge strength for Cam). This seems like a middle-of-the-road, radio-safe choice ... that also has potential to get lost in the shuffle of things. I've listened to this three times and hear a few hints of Carrie here & there.

This is great. The production on the track feels kinda similar to how a lot of Maren's Girl album sounds. Very modern and decidedly pretty radio-friendly, which I'm happy about because I want her to have another hit. Not sure what I expect to happen with this single because there's a lot of factors working against her here, but I obviously am rooting for her to make a comeback. I'm glad that the plan seems to be to put her sophomore album out soon regardless of how this does, because there's no way that this will blow up into a hit by the summer if it ends up doing well (like it'll most likely need most of the year to peak with how country radio is).
One of my biggest takeaways with this so far is how incredible that music video is. I loved everything about that aesthetic of the post-apocalyptic honkytonk. Between that and the cover artwork, it gives me a bit of a Golden Hour Kacey Musgraves vibe stylistically, so I'm kinda hoping that her album follows in that same vein.

I love this. Love the vibe. It wasn't as instant as I had hoped, but it will definitely grow into a favorite. "Diane" sure set the bar high for the follow-up album. Stupid fricken Country radio... It should've been a multi-week #1 and we should be getting ready for album #3 right now! I'm just happy the sophomore album is finally coming! Also, since everyone else is bringing it up, I've always thought Cam had the vocal ability of Carrie Underwood and on many songs sounds similar. There are certain notes she hits that are VERY Carrie-esque. She still manages to very much have her own style though.

Between that and the cover artwork, it gives me a bit of a Golden Hour Kacey Musgraves vibe stylistically, so I'm kinda hoping that her album follows in that same vein. First off, boy was I surprised by that day-early release! I was too busy most of the day yesterday so I didn't get the chance to listen to this or see the video until just now. Also glad the "soon" is relatively an Ariana Grande soon, and being released in the early summer rather than fall. I saw someone say the track doesn't *go there* with her vocals but I thought it did towards the end. Notes went a little bit high I thought. The same person said they heard hints of Carrie Underwood...for a couple seconds I thought she was the one going la-da-la-da-la-da the whole time, despite seeing Cam lip-syncing it, suggesting Cam did her own BGVs. Tbh tho, I heard whispers of Carrie in Cam's vocals throughout a couple parts of the chorus, especially towards the end, leading me to wonder how well this would've sounded as a Carrie Underwood track (and now the stan I am wants to hear her cover this lmao). As for the video, I LOVE it!! This honky-tonk apocalypse, honey...I loved the vibe of that! I do get a bit of a Golden Hour vibe from this as well, so if Cam's new album sounds anything remotely the same, it's worth the Adele-like wait. Hoping this does great as a comeback single, even if it takes most of 2020 to hit #1. Yes, I said #1. I'm getting my hopes up; I want her to have another hit.

Nice song; loved the video. It's definitely a safe bet but considering how long it's been since her last single and the overall climate for female artists at country road, can't fault the woman for playing it safe out the gate.

Wonderful performance! Sounded just about the same as the studio recording. This has been on repeat all day; I think it's an absolutely incredible song!

It's weird I loved Cam's debut album (sans "Want it All") but "Diane" was only decent for me and this is a noticeable step down from her debut album and even "Diane". I tend to not really care most of the time for the Maren Morris Girl sound, mainly because it sounds much more pop than country, unlike Cam's debut album which I thought was a great mix of pop and country equally and this song just kind of left me bored.
Also I am lost on the notion this was going to country radio or anything like that, Cam is not with Sony Nashville anymore and I don't recall this song being sent to radio yet regardless. Like maybe another label will pick her up (which I can see going either way) but I don't recall when this was going to country radio.

Another great performance! Love her outfit and the aesthetic--living for these after-Golden-Hour vibes! God, I just can't get enough of this song! Personally no burn rate on it tbh; I've had it on loop and it's still not getting old.

I really love this! I remember watching the live performance video at the Opry around the time she was there and it was electrifying even then. I like others have mentioned am getting Cam-esque Golden Hour vibes from the treatment of the video. Does it feel safe? I guess maybe. Does it sound like something that could connect on radio today? Absolutely. I was worried that she'd have to start all over again because it had been so long. This should bridge that time gap post "Diane" nicely. Really hoping the best for this song and this era. Cam out of any other new artist is by far my favorite. The genre and industry could learn a few things from her.

Like maybe another label will pick her up (which I can see going either way) but I don't recall when this was going to country radio. She is still with Sony's RCA imprint, just not based out of its Nashville division anymore. It has not been indicated that this is going to radio yet, but I would be very surprised given all the promotion for this being her big return single if they did nothing to get it any airplay. That would be pretty illogical. I'm sure that it will be sent to radio at some point somehow, even if it isn't immediate.

SO much better than Diane! I am loving this song and the video is perfect for it. So visually pleasing. I do hope this goes to radio, since I think this could be thrown a bone.

So my bf isn’t a fan of this, but I really like it. That being said, her add libs at the end should have been more prominent, and would have made the song more impactful and less repetitive. Still enjoy it though... especially the second part of the second verse, and the bridge. The song ends abruptly though.
I need to see the video and live performances, didn’t know there were any. I liked her debut album but I’m hoping this new one will hit all the right notes.

This is great! Definitely her best since "Burning House". Hopefully this will get back to the top of the charts (where she should be).

Great video, great performances!
I love this woman. I just rewatched her cover of "Palace" and her duet of "Girl Crush" with Alicia Keys. <3 <3 <3 Shes so good live; such pure, spot on vocals.
Give me the album!!

I've never got the hype around Burning House, but this song is so good! I can't stop listening to this.
Is her debut album worth checking out or does a lot sound similar to Burning House?

Her debut album is incredible! Highlights from the top of my head besides "Burning House" are "Mayday," "Cold in California," "Untamed" (the title track), "My Mistake," and "Village."

As a longtime fan of Cam all I can say is...I love this! I'm honesty just thrilled to hear her voice again and no matter what radio does with this I'll be playing it non-stop.

We get a new song on Friday.
“It’s heavy, magical, raw and heartfelt. One of the most personal songs off my upcoming album. I’m being reminded just how special music is, and I am even more committed to giving you something meaningful.”
