INSANE how Post Malone garnered mainstream success just 2 or 3 years ago and is on every damn list for the decade end. And not just there but placed very highly on most of the categories (#10 artist of the decade #11 song of the decade, #5 & #6 album of the decade)...incredible

The digital songs of the decade list is ridiculous. How are songs that have song 5-6M copies below songs that have barely sold 1M? I know its based on chart runs but my god that list feels so disconnected to what people actually bought. And very misleading to non chart watchers that will view it.

Im a bit confused with this. Is this just a partial list that will be updated by the end of the decade, or is this the final deal? Can somebody clarify this for me, please?

I'd be very surprised if Billboard did an update. Their year ends on Nov 30 for charts. So expanding to decades, missing only 2 months out of 120 is actually more accurate.
And nothing close to the top would change. You might see an album move from #137 to #134 (purely for illustration purposes) but it wouldn't affect the top ten, which is still more than 90% of the population cares about.
This is a way for Billboard to get ahead of the decade-end list curve in the media. They ARE a business, after all.

Post's placements are beyond impressive. But his numbers will take a serious nosedive very soon as he continues his transformation into alternative rock singer or whatever. 2020s are not looking good for him.

I hope this post remains relevant a decade from now. In my opinion, Post Malone will likely lose some steam, but should maintain a loyal audience for a while. The 2020’s will have some new names in the picture, but expect Drake to continue his hold on the market. Taylor Swift will still have #1 albums, but realize that an opening of 600k is going to be the new “big opening”. The name I’m concerned about the most is Katy Perry. She will be a name in passing to describe the 2010’s pop music scene, and I’m perfectly fine with that. The “Teenage Dream” album set a bar so high that you can only go down. It is a masterpiece but you can’t deny that her last 5 or 6 singles have all flopped, and that is a massive problem.

Well, the only artists that made the top 20 AOTD in the 2000’s that are now in the 2010’s top 20 are: Rihanna, Pink and Eminem. Rihanna is the only top 20 artist of the 2000’s to now climb into the top 5. INSANE LONGEVITY. No one knows if Drake, Post Malone, Rihanna, Ariana etc. will again be commercially relevant 5 years from now to have a high mention in the 2020’s chart. It’s 10 years away. Katy Perry is finished for the most part. I think she’ll become a throwback to 2010’s pop music, like Avril Lavigne, Xtina, J.Lo etc. were in the 00’s.

Fun Facts. • Rihanna was the #16 AOTD in the 2000’s, and is #4 for the 2010’s. [She’s the only artist to climb from the top 20 in a previous decade to the top ten/five in a current decade]. thegreatdivineDon’t we just adore true longevity. 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿 • Rihanna, Pink and Eminem are the only artists who made the top 20 AOTD in the 00’s to again make the top 20 in the 2010’s. (Mariah Carey did the same in the 90’s to the 00’s).

I am still shocked that post managed top ten. Mad Beyoncé didn’t at least grab top 20:(. Otherwise I’m pretty satisfied with how things played out

Closer is THAT song! #4 on Digital Sales, #6 on Radio Songs, (Top 5/10 Streaming???) and #4 on the Hot 100.
Happier being the biggest non-#1 of the decade is surprising, but I like the song and it deserved at least a week at #1 (IMO).
In My Feelings (10-week - 90k peaking #1) in the top 100 is great.
...and just like the 2000s, the end of the decade was overrepresented (Without Me at #12? Come on...).

(Mariah Carey did the same in the 90’s to the 00’s). There's also 80s/90s acts like Madonna, Michael, and Whitney... probably Janet, too... who all ranked high in two decades. I believe Madonna *just* missed the top 5 for the 90s, after being the top female of the 80s, for example. I'm not looking at the data, just recalling the world before your beloved Rihanna hit the charts. Yes. Madonna ranked at #6 for the ‘90’s, just behind “Celine Dion”. 1) Mariah Carey 2) Janet Jackson 3) Garth Brooks 4) Boyz II Men 5) Celine Dion 6) Madonna 7) TLC 8) Whitney Houston 9) Michael Bolton 10) Toni Braxton I only highlighted Rihanna’s achievement as there’s NO specific 1980’s Decade-End list.

They should've (imo) just left the multiplier the same for the 8/11/2018 - present era instead of changing it to x0.85. To me at least, it should be clear that Radioactive is the biggest non-peaking #1 song. The last year is overly represented on the list, and with that multiplier we get 4 songs in the top 50 of all time from this past year. Then again, IMF wouldn't have made the top 100 under that system so.......

Billboard - Top 5 AOTD.
1990’s:
• Mariah Carey • Janet Jackson • Garth Brooks • Boyz II Men • Celine Dion
2000’s:
• Eminem • Usher • Nelly • Beyonce • Nickelback
2010’s:
• Drake • Taylor Swift • Bruno Mars • Rihanna • Adele
Billboard has no Decade-End data for the 1970’s and 1980’s, unfortunately.
We can assume that...
• Michael Jackson, Madonna and Whitney Houston were the top three for the 1980’s.
• The 1970’s were a mixture of Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Barbra Streisand, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney/WINGS etc.

IM SO HAPPY! And Rihanna is at #4. OMG! Now I see the other lists! I don't know how we all underestimated Bruno Mars in our predictions. I think the highest I had him at was 5

I think Billboard removed their "leaks" for the decade-end lists, as the links on iHype's first post do not work anymore. I tried other links too and they didn't work either.

Yes. Billboard have removed the links. 😂
They probably saw it being spread like wildfire across Twitter etc. and had no choice.
Didn’t they think anyone would notice the leak?

With Meant to Be as the #1 country song of the decade, it's also the #1 country song on the all time list. That might be challenged soon enough by 10,000 Hours.

Post's placements are beyond impressive. But his numbers will take a serious nosedive very soon as he continues his transformation into alternative rock singer or whatever. 2020s are not looking good for him. I don't think he'll lose a lot of steam or nosedive, but I think he'll gradually slow down. I need him to drop another album to see, but if I could call it in at this very moment, beerbongs & bentleys is his biggest album with his biggest hit song. That's a pretty early peak. He also debuted in the middle of the decade and so his success will be spread across two decades. Drake will continue to enjoy massive commercial success until at least halfway into the 2020's decade. It all depends on how he evolves as an artist and if he even continues to release music into his 40's. He'll be 43 in 2029.
